As the effects of the alcohol wore off, he realized he had forgotten to take his painkillers, and the discomfort from his bullet wound began to resurface.

Enduring the pain, Alex found it challenging to focus on Joanna's behavior. Despite his desire to confide in her about his intentions, the presence of other people complicated matters.

Being his contract wife, Joanna had certain privileges that other staff members did not. Therefore, he hesitated to share his secret with her while surrounded by others, including Violet.

Perhaps she would have to wait until he was ready to disclose the information to everyone.
