บท 6: Chapter 6 (edited)

In fact, there was another thing that truly impressed Kara. Beyond adding clothes that better matched the surrounding style, she also needed to acquire various daily necessities—everything from tableware to items essential for baby Clark.

This included bottles, diapers, and other essentials for an infant. They also needed beds for both children, as well as quilts and other household items.

The sudden arrival of two children in the Kent household not only brought excitement and vitality to the family but also required numerous adjustments in a short period of time. Even their identity paperwork had to be arranged; otherwise, they wouldn't be able to attend school and might even risk being taken away by authorities as undocumented individuals.

Fortunately, the peculiarities of the era made it possible for the Kents to address this issue. On a trip to the nearby town, Jonathan and Martha successfully registered both Kara and Clark as adopted children of the Kent family.

Kara's age made it impossible to claim that she was their biological child—her sudden appearance would raise questions, and even Clark's arrival had seemed too abrupt for anyone to believe Martha had been pregnant.

Thus, Kara and Clark officially became the Kent family's adopted daughter and son.

Next came a shopping trip to gather the necessary supplies. Kara gained a few new outfits, including dresses, while the pickup truck was soon filled with items, including Clark's crib.

That evening, Martha prepared turkey for dinner, even though it wasn't Thanksgiving. To the Kents, Kara and Clark were gifts from God, and they wanted to celebrate the new additions to their family.

In short, Kara and Clark quickly integrated into the small, loving household. This smooth transition was a great relief to Kara, who had grown weary of wandering alone in this strange new world.

That first night, since there hadn't been time to prepare separate rooms, Jonathan volunteered to sleep on the living room sofa while Martha shared the queen bed with both children.

Exhausted from the day's events, Kara quickly fell asleep, comforted by the sound of baby Clark sleeping beside her. For the first time in a long while, she felt a sense of peace.

The next morning, Kara woke feeling refreshed, though she knew she wasn't yet fully accustomed to her new life. Jonathan and Martha, understanding her unease, chose not to pressure her and instead gave her the time and space to adjust naturally.

Jonathan began preparing a room for Kara, moving Clark's crib there as well, even though she hadn't asked for it. Kara found herself appreciating their care and thoughtfulness. While Martha would have been the logical choice to care for Clark, Kara instinctively felt the need to protect her younger brother herself.

To show her gratitude, Kara donned work clothes and helped Jonathan with the farm chores. Thanks to her growing abilities, she could handle tasks with remarkable efficiency, much to Jonathan's amazement. He even joked that Kara might be the perfect candidate to inherit the family farm someday.

Though touched by Jonathan's sentiment, Kara had no intention of staying on the farm permanently. She had greater aspirations for her future and imagined that Clark, should he choose, might one day take over the family legacy instead.

Under the Kents' nurturing care, Kara and Clark both settled into their new lives. Jonathan and Martha patiently waited until Kara had fully adapted before enrolling her in a local school. Jonathan's approach was thoughtful; he didn't want Kara to feel rushed or burdened until she trusted them completely.

When Kara finally called them "Dad" and "Mom" for the first time, both Jonathan and Martha were overwhelmed with joy, embracing each other as tears streamed down their faces.

Five Years Later

Five years passed in the blink of an eye. During that time, Kara fully mastered her powers, including flight, which had initially eluded her. From the moment she arrived on Earth, she could feel its lighter gravity, but it took significant effort to transition from merely jumping high to truly soaring through the skies.

Kara didn't keep her abilities a secret from her adoptive parents, happily sharing her progress with them. However, Jonathan warned her against displaying her powers in public, fearing that others might react with fear or hostility. Kara, understanding his concerns, promised to be careful and only practice when she was certain no one was watching.

In these five years, Kara established herself as a model student and a helpful presence on the farm. She was beautiful, intelligent, and responsible, making her popular at school and earning the admiration of her teachers and peers.

Meanwhile, Clark also grew rapidly. Now five years old, he had started attending preschool. Every morning, Kara would take him to school, and Martha or Jonathan would pick him up in the afternoons.

Recently, though, Clark began experiencing some strange occurrences. He complained of hearing faint whispers and knocks, even when no one was around. His vision was also becoming unusual; at times, he could see through people's skin to their skeletons or observe their hearts beating within their chests.

Kara recognized that Clark was beginning to experience the same changes she had.
