As soon as Tian Ling returned to the Serene Mist Sect, he felt a comforting familiarity upon stepping once again onto its grounds. He decided to scan the entire sect with his soul sense. Now, as a cultivator of the Perfected Soul Realm, his spiritual sense could easily cover the entire extent of the sect. He closed his eyes and let his sense expand like an invisible wave, searching for any signs of abnormality.

"Hmm, everything seems in order," he thought, noticing nothing out of the ordinary. Satisfied, he turned his attention to the main island, where the Sect Master's palace was located. He sensed the Master's Qi and realized that he was still recovering from injuries. Immediate concern took hold of his heart.

"I need to see how he's doing," he decided.

Without wasting time, he headed directly to the Sect Master's palace. As he walked through the familiar corridors, memories of his years as a disciple surfaced in his mind.
