บท 12: You're a devil !

Zuri entered the room after calming her mind. But entering the room was not the best choice as her once calm heart quickly became agitated at the sight of Liam.

Liam was sitting there watching TV with a glass of wine in his hand. He looked at Zuri, who looked at him reluctantly.

"Come here, I want to talk to you," Liam said in his usual flat tone.

Zuri walked over. But she chose to sit some distance away from Liam.

"Sign the agreement. Besides the one I made with your father, we need another one," Liam said, pointing to the paper on the table. Zuri took it and read it briefly. There were several important points in the agreement:

No falling in love. If pregnancy occurs, it must be terminated. Do not interfere in each other's personal matters.

The second point shocked Zuri. "I don't plan to get pregnant with you. Besides, it is too cruel. Do you think a child is just a toy?" she raised her voice, upset by Liam's request.

Liam looked at Zuri, expressionless.

"I don't plan to have a child with you either. I will only have children with the woman I love. So I'm just making sure that if we ever have sex and you get pregnant, the baby will be aborted," Liam said coldly.

"Murderer! Past or present, a murderer is still a murderer," Zuri retorted, staring sharply at him. This wasn't Zuri's anger, but that of Princess Elara, who saw Liam as Prince Tristan in her memories because of their resemblance. It seemed that Liam also shared Tristan's cruel nature.

Liam returned Zuri's sharp gaze.

"She always speaks in strange phrases. What does she mean by 'past and present'? She even mentioned 'the great king'? What's really going on?

Zuri listened to Liam's thoughts. But wait - did Liam just mention 'the great king'? How did he know that? Zuri only remembered that when she was kidnapped, she thought her rescuer was Princess Elara's father, the Great King. Could Liam have been her rescuer? No, impossible, Zuri thought, dismissing it because of Liam's cold demeanor.

"Stop talking nonsense. Sign the agreement and go to bed," Liam ordered, not wanting to be contradicted.

Instead of obeying his command, Zuri bravely tore up the agreement. "This is ridiculous! How can you treat a human life like a game? If I ever get pregnant, I won't ask you for anything. Just divorce me and set me free," Zuri said, glaring at Liam with growing hatred.

"I made a copy of the agreement. Sign it tomorrow. I'm not asking you, I'm ordering you," Liam replied coldly.

"If the second point remains, I will never sign it. Unless you agree to let the baby live!" Zuri shouted, furious at Liam's heartless demand. After all, Zuri was Princess Elara, who deeply despised Prince Tristan, now embodied by Liam.

"My decision, it never changes." Liam stood his ground.

"You are indeed a devil in human form," Zuri screeched, refusing to accept the nonsensical order Liam had written.

"Call me anything you like. I never change my mind.Especially when it comes to you. You're just a pawn in a little game, and you'll do as I say. Don't forget, I have plenty of people who can make your life hell. Your dad, and your boyfriend's career, for starters," Liam said, his eyes cold as ice.

"You're a devil ! I'll never give in to you, not ever!" Zuri shouted, furious.

Liam smirked. "We'll see about that. You can prove me wrong."

"You're a devil !" Zuri screamed before leaving Liam and heading to the couch to rest. Zuri cried silently, longing for the past life of Princess Elara.

Meanwhile, Liam left the room to meet someone.

"Zen, keep investigating whether my wife is involved in Mr. Harrison's scheme. She wasn't supposed to be the bride. It should've been her cousin, but Mr. Walter pushed his daughter into this marriage. Grandfather agreed because Mr. Walter had helped him before. But Zuri acts like she knows nothing. I'm sure she's pretending and secretly plans to destroy me," Liam said to his personal bodyguard.

Zen nodded obediently to Liam's orders.

"So far, there's nothing suspicious. Miss Zuri has been acting normally. Although, she did speak with Mr. Oliver earlier," Zen reported, causing Liam to glance at his bodyguard.

"Oliver? Where?" Liam asked, clearly irritated. His relationship with his cousin wasn't good.

"He's with your grandfather now." Liam nodded.

"Keep investigating discreetly. I want to know how far Zuri is playing her part," Liam said, walking away to meet his grandfather.

Oliver emerged from his grandfather's room just as Liam arrived.

"Oh... nice to see you," Oliver said casually with a sweet smile, but to Liam, it was nothing more than a fake smile to cover his true intentions.

"Why are you here? Just to see Grandfather?" Liam asked flatly as usual.

Oliver chuckled slightly. "I came to see Grandfather and also to congratulate you on your marriage," Oliver replied calmly.

"Are you mocking me?" Liam asked, but Oliver just laughed.

The laughter quickly turned into a mischievous grin. "I'm heading out. See you later, cousin," Oliver said as he started to walk away.

"Don't try to kidnap my wife again. Even though I married her under an agreement, her safety is not a game," Liam said without looking at Oliver, who paused mid-step.

Silence filled the air.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Oliver replied.

"Don't play dumb. I know all about your plans. Even if my wife dies, I won't give you what's mine. Stop using Grandfather to force me to do what you and your parents want!" Liam spoke with a cold, threatening tone that made Oliver smile.

"And if your wife dies this time, the claim to the inheritance of the Core Company will be revoked. I want to see you frustrated by this, constantly losing your partners and dying a miserable death," Oliver said before walking away, leaving Liam visibly seething with anger.

Could the curse of the past be haunting Liam?
