Chapter 73: This Is Quite Shameless
After Zhao Ling escorted Ah Yin back to the hotel, he leaned down and kissed her smooth forehead.
"Ah Yin, I'm going to meet the woman who tipped us off earlier and figure out who she is. You take a bath and relax. Wait for me to come back, and then I'll pamper you properly."
His smile was reassuring. "Don't worry; I'm only going to check her identity. I promise I'll be back soon."
"Alright, husband. Go and come back quickly," Ah Yin said with a sweet smile, practically pushing Zhao Ling out of the room.
As soon as Zhao Ling was outside, Ah Yin hurriedly closed and locked the door. Inside, her delighted cheer echoed faintly through the hallway.
"Finally! I can get some real rest tonight!"
Outside, Zhao Ling's expression darkened. He felt slightly offended. 'Is she that eager to get rid of me?'
He glanced back at the locked door, muttering to himself, "It's just a door. If I really wanted to break in…" But then he sighed, relenting.
"Fine. She's been exhausted these past few days. I'll let her have a good night's rest."
With that, he turned and left the hotel, releasing his mental power to search for the mysterious woman.
After about ten minutes of scanning the area, Zhao Ling spotted the woman walking on the street roughly a kilometer from the hotel.
He approached her with a polite smile. "Thank you for warning us earlier. Without your help, things might have gotten messy."
His tone was gentle, far softer than the cold demeanor Liu Erlong had witnessed when he taught her cousins a lesson.
Liu Erlong looked at Zhao Ling, feeling both pleased and flustered. This was the first time she had managed to interact with him directly instead of observing from afar.
Her delicate features softened into what she thought was a gentle, pleasant smile.
"Your Excellency is too kind," she replied. "With your strength, it's obvious you didn't need my warning. You pinned a Soul Emperor to the ground like it was nothing."
Zhao Ling studied her carefully, but something about her demeanor felt slightly off. He couldn't place it, so he simply nodded and introduced himself.
"My name is Zhao Ling, from Notting City. May I know your name, Miss? Perhaps you'd allow me to treat you to a drink as a token of my gratitude?"
Liu Erlong's smile faltered slightly, her lips twitching.
'We've only just met officially, and he's already asking me for a drink? No wonder this guy has two stunning women falling over themselves for him. He's so shameless!'
She quickly reminded herself to stay composed. Accepting his invitation too easily might make her seem cheap, especially when he already had two beauties vying for his attention. She needed to maintain her dignity if she wanted to stand out.
Feigning caution, she took two steps back. "I'm Liu Erlong, from Tian Dou Imperial City," she said. "But isn't it improper for you to invite me for a drink when you're already so… happily committed? Aren't you worried about how your wife might feel?"
Zhao Ling's eyes widened like saucers. "Liu Erlong?"
His exaggerated reaction amused Liu Erlong, though she kept her expression neutral. 'This is the guy who called me a "female Tyrannosaurus Rex" in his diary? And now he acts like he barely knows me? Pathetic.'
Feigning innocence, she tilted her head and asked, "What's with the reaction? Have you heard of me before?"
Zhao Ling rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, unsure how to respond. In his mind, however, the familiar diary panel popped up, and he immediately began venting.
[What is going on? The person who warned me and Ah Yin earlier turned out to be Liu Erlong!]
[She's so different from how she's described later in the original story. Right now, she's young, vibrant, and absolutely stunning. Honestly, she's not far behind Bibi Dong or Ah Yin in terms of beauty.]

He chuckled at the thought but quickly returned his focus to the present.
Meanwhile, Liu Erlong watched Zhao Ling's distracted expression, her curiosity piqued. She could sense he was deep in thought but had no idea what was going on in his head.
"What's wrong?" she asked, breaking the silence.
Zhao Ling quickly snapped out of it, his polite smile returning. "Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about how fortunate we were that you stepped in to warn us. Truly, I owe you one."
Liu Erlong raised an eyebrow. 'Fortunate? With your strength, you'd have been fine even without my help.'
Still, she didn't press the issue, instead deciding to bide her time. Getting to know Zhao Ling would require patience, especially if she wanted to navigate the complexities of his relationships.
For now, she simply smiled and said, "You're welcome. I'm sure anyone in my position would have done the same."
