บท 84: Chapter 84: Punit Raichu vs Exeggutor Battle

The ballroom of the ST. Anne glittered under the golden light of chandeliers, their glow casting a glimmer over the polished floor. Guests, once mingling with drinks and hors d'oeuvres, now crowded around the makeshift battle arena, eyes glued to the center. A sea of trainers and spectators, everyone craving to see which one of us would come out on top.

I adjusted my black sling bag as I scanned the room. Misty stood a few rows back, flanked by Brock and Ash, her eyes lit up with a mixture of excitement and challenge. "Win this and show them your Raichu is the best!" she shouted, her voice rising above the hum of the crowd.

Raichu stood by my side, glancing at me, clearly confused about all the commotion. He tilted his head at me, sparks already crackling from his cheeks.

I crouched down, my hand brushing the sleek fur on his head. "It's time for your exercise," I said, my tone casual, almost bored. The corner of my lips twitched upward. Raichu gave a joyful pout, his tail flicking as if he knew exactly what was about to go down.

The referee, standing tall in the center of the arena, raised his voice. "Ladies and gentlemen!" His voice cut through the air, commanding attention. "We have a battle on our hands. Trainer Punit, with his Raichu! Versus... Carl, with his Exeggutor!"

Carl stood across from me, his smirk dripping with arrogance. He flicked his hair back, as if that alone would win him this battle. "You sure you wanna do this, Punit? Grass and Psychic type against your little Electric rodent?" His voice was filled with fake sympathy, like he was offering me a way out before I embarrassed myself.

I didn't flinch, didn't even glance at him. Instead, my gaze stayed locked on Raichu, his muscles tense, ready. "You're the one who wanted to battle my Raichu," I said, my voice calm. "What's the point of showing off now?"

Carl's smirk faltered for a moment, dumbfounded. Ash's voice cut through, eager as always. "Win this, and then we'll fight too!"

I gave him a curt nod without turning. Ash could wait. This moment belonged to Raichu.

The referee sliced his hand through the air. "Battle... begin!"

Carl wasted no time, his command sharp. "Exeggutor, Leech Seed!" One of Exeggutor's heads spat out a series of glowing green seeds, hurtling toward Raichu. They gleamed ominously, ready to sap his energy.

I barely blinked. "Raichu, Agility."

Raichu blurred, a yellow streak darting left and right. The seeds hit nothing but the polished floor, embedding themselves uselessly into the ground. The crowd murmured in awe as Raichu reappeared, his body coiled with electric tension, his cheeks sparking with raw energy.

Carl gritted his teeth. "Reflect!"

Exeggutor's eyes glowed, and a shimmering psychic barrier materialized, rippling in front of it. I could see Carl's confidence rising, thinking that physical attacks would bounce off that wall.

I leaned back slightly, my tone still relaxed. "Think that'll save you? Raichu, Thunderbolt."

Raichu's feet planted firmly, his cheeks lighting up with a surge of electricity before a massive bolt tore through the ballroom, crackling toward Exeggutor. The crowd gasped at the sheer intensity of the attack.

But Carl was ready. "Hypnosis!"

As the Thunderbolt ripped toward him, Exeggutor's eyes flared, releasing waves of shimmering psychic energy. The electricity sizzled through the rings, but I saw Raichu's movements slow. His eyelids drooped, his body swaying under the weight of sleep creeping over him.

"Raichu, Double Team!" I barked, not giving him a chance to sink.

Raichu snapped back into focus, his form splitting into dozens of flickering copies, surrounding Exeggutor. They moved in a whirlwind of yellow light, each clone an identical copy, making it impossible for Carl to track the real one.

Carl's smug expression twisted into frustration. "Cheap tricks! Exeggutor, Stomp!"

Exeggutor's massive foot slammed into the ground, sending tremors across the floor. Several of Raichu's clones flickered and vanished, but the real Raichu darted through the cracks, a streak of lightning ready to strike.

"Iron Tail!" I commanded, the words sharp, precise.

With a sharp cry, Raichu launched into the air, his tail glowing with metallic energy. He flipped midair, bringing his tail crashing down on the Reflect barrier. The clang echoed through the ballroom, the barrier holding, but faint cracks spider-webbed across its surface.

Carl's confidence wavered, his teeth grinding together. "You won't get through that easily. Exeggutor, SolarBeam!"

The ballroom filled with a blinding light as Exeggutor's heads tilted back, gathering energy from the room's golden chandeliers. This was Carl's final move, his trump card. I could see the smug look creeping back into his eyes. He thought it was over.

"Raichu, Volt Switch," I said, my voice low but sure.

Raichu vanished in a burst of light, reappearing at my feet as Exeggutor's SolarBeam sputtered, its focus broken. Carl growled, knowing his plan had just fallen apart.

I wasted no time. "Electro Ball!"

Raichu shot forward, a ball of crackling electricity forming between his paws, growing larger and more powerful with each step. He hurled it at Exeggutor with everything he had.

Carl's eyes widened in horror. "Exeggutor—!"

Too late. The Electro Ball slammed into Exeggutor, bypassing the shattered Reflect barrier with ease. The impact sent a jolt of electricity surging through its body, Exeggutor stumbling, its legs wobbling under the force. The SolarBeam fizzled out, the collected energy dissipating into the air as Exeggutor faltered.

The crowd was silent, breathless, watching as Carl's Pokémon struggled to stay upright. Carl's fists clenched, his face a mask of disbelief. He knew it. I knew it. The battle was over.

"I... I forfeit," Carl muttered, his voice barely audible.

The referee stepped forward, raising his arm. "Raichu wins! Trainer Punit is the victor!"

Cheers erupted from the crowd, but Carl stayed still, staring at Raichu as if trying to understand how he had lost. "How... how did you get those moves?" he stammered.

I shrugged, a smirk playing on my lips. "Everyone has secrets."

Raichu jumped into my arms, still sparking slightly, his fur singed but victorious. Misty approached, crossing her arms with a smirk of her own. "You may have beaten Carl, but let's see how you do without Raichu. I've got a water badge to defend which you get from my sisters before."

I raised an eyebrow, my voice calm. "Afraid you'll lose?"

Misty huffed, her eyes narrowing. "Yeah, maybe. But I'm not dumb enough to fight that Raichu."

I chuckled, glancing at Raichu. "You've spent too much time with Erin. You're getting honest."

"Sometimes," she muttered, smirking back.
