บท 50: Chapter 50: The Gift of the CP0 Organization
"Mr. Chiba, please take a look at this," Rob Lucci said, pulling a document from his pocket and handing it to Chiba.
Chiba opened it, skimming the contents, and his expression grew serious. He fixed his gaze on Lucci. "Is everything in here accurate?"
Lucci smiled. "CP0's intelligence network is second to none. You can be assured that it's all true."
Chiba gave a slow nod. "I see. This information is indeed a generous gift."
"In exchange," Chiba continued, "I'll provide you with my upgraded methods for Finger Pistol, Shave, and Iron Body. Additionally, you'll receive 1,000 milliliters of energy-training liquid, 100 foundation-building pills, and 10 barrier-breaking pills."
But Lucci only chuckled and shook his head. "I told you before, Mr. Chiba—I plan to clear out your entire stock of elixirs and potions."
Chiba raised an eyebrow. "Your intel is valuable, but the price is steep for a single file."
Lucci's smile widened as he pulled out a second document. "How about if I throw this into the bargain?"
Chiba scanned the new document, his eyes flashing with excitement. He looked up at Lucci. "Mr. Lucci, it's a pleasure doing business with you."
Chiba headed to a cabinet and retrieved several vials. "In the past few months, I've managed to produce 15,000 milliliters of energy-training liquid, 400 foundation-building pills, and 30 barrier-breaking pills. These potions are far superior to those Marine has been using. You're welcome to take the entire batch."
Lucci's eyes gleamed with satisfaction. This haul of potions and elixirs would bring him significantly closer to Admiral-level strength.
Chiba then handed him three more files. "Here are my latest techniques for Finger Pistol, Shave, and Iron Body."
Lucci opened the files and read through the techniques, his eyes widening in admiration. "Mr. Chiba, you truly are a legend in Marine. By following your training methods, anyone could master these skills with far less effort, and they're exponentially more powerful."
Lucci looked at Chiba with a mix of awe and respect. "You know, Mr. Chiba, a talent like yours is wasted in Marine. CP0 could offer you far more resources. I hope you'll consider joining us someday."
Chiba smiled lightly. "Mr. Lucci, I see you as an excellent collaborator. I'm looking forward to future partnerships."
Knowing he'd gained plenty from this transaction, Lucci extended his hand with a smile. "I feel the same, Mr. Chiba. Until next time."
Chiba shook his hand, then called out to his staff. "Bring out all our potions and elixirs for our distinguished guests from CP0."
Soon, crates of elixirs and potions were loaded onto Lucci's ship. Chiba accompanied him to the port, bidding him farewell. "Safe travels, Mr. Lucci. I won't keep you any longer."
Lucci waved back, as if parting with an old friend. "Until we meet again, Mr. Chiba."
Watching from the shore, Sengoku, Garp, and the others felt a mix of confusion and curiosity. Wasn't CP0 sent by the World Government to take Chiba? And why did Lucci leave so cordially?
Sengoku approached Chiba, frowning. "Chiba, do you know Lucci from somewhere?"
"First time meeting him today," Chiba replied.
"You two act like old friends," Sengoku said, still puzzled. When did CP0 become so friendly?
Meanwhile, Sakazuki watched with suspicion, his mind racing. Chiba must have cut a secret deal with CP0. He's building alliances outside Marine, making it even harder for me to secure the Fleet Admiral position.
If I'm to secure my future, I might need to let Blackbeard handle him.
Turning on his heel, Sakazuki left, already planning his next move.
Back in the research room, Chiba worked non-stop, using the last of his medicinal supplies to produce a high-grade batch of ultimate foundation-building pills. Three days later, he had everything he needed. That night, under cover of darkness, Chiba, along with Hina, Peacock, Koby, and Bell-mère, snuck onto a merchant ship and quietly left Marineford.
By the next evening, the head of Chiba's research office burst into Sengoku's office, frantic. "Marshal! We have a problem—Lord Chiba hasn't been seen all day."
Sengoku waved dismissively. "It's only been a day. Calm down."
"Sir, you don't understand. Lord Chiba has never missed a single day. He's never even been a minute late."
Sengoku's frown deepened. "Did you check with Hina?"
"Yes, Marshal. Hina Rear Admiral is missing too."
"What about Peacock?"
"She's gone as well, along with Koby and Bellmepo."
Sengoku's expression darkened. "And you're only now reporting this? Mobilize the entire base! Search every inch of Marineford and investigate all ships and vessels that left the port in the last twelve hours."
