Uchiha Fugaku didn't linger in the Uchiha Clan's secret base for long. After ensuring Yukiko's safety and providing instructions for her training, he quietly returned to Konoha. His absence had been lengthy this time—more than ten days—but thanks to his mastery of the spore clone technique, he avoided suspicion.
In the underground secret chamber beneath his home, Fugaku placed his hand on his spore clone. The chakra stored in it flowed back into his body, and the clone dissolved into spores, reabsorbing into him.
Simultaneously, the memories of the clone surged into his mind, recounting the events that had unfolded in Konoha during his absence.
Tsunade caused a big commotion at Root…
Learning about Tsunade's direct attack on the Root organization left him both surprised and amused. He marveled at her audacity; few dared to challenge Danzo Shimura so openly. Yet, he couldn't help but revel in the fact that Danzo was forced to endure the humiliation.
"Tsunade…" he murmured, a smirk playing on his lips. "Only someone with her background could get away with something like that."
As the granddaughter of the First Hokage, a disciple of the Third, and a celebrated Sannin, Tsunade occupied a position so untouchable that even Danzo could do little in retaliation. Whatever had driven her to confront Root must have been significant, though the details remained unclear. The Third Hokage had ensured that the matter was kept out of public discussion.
Fugaku briefly entertained the idea of forming an alliance with Tsunade to fight Danzo, but he dismissed it just as quickly. While Tsunade clearly despised Danzo, she had little reason to trust him or the Uchiha Clan. Their shared animosity toward the shadowy Root leader wasn't enough to bridge the chasm of distrust.
Satisfied that nothing else of consequence had occurred in the village, Fugaku turned his attention to his prize: two sealing scrolls he had carried back from the Land of Water. One contained the remains of the Kaguya Clan members, and the other held over a dozen corpses of the Snow Clan.
"Let's start with the Ice Release," he muttered to himself.
Breaking the seal on the scroll, he summoned the first of the Snow Clan's corpses into the chamber. Activating his Mangekyō Sharingan, he focused on the left eye. Its intricate pattern spun rapidly, creating a dark vortex into which the body vanished.
Within the corpse-melting dimension, the remains dissolved into a unique biological material that flowed back into Fugaku's body. A sudden, icy sensation surged through him, and frost began forming on his skin. His eyebrows turned white as his body trembled from the chill. The air around him filled with a faint mist, and the temperature in the chamber dropped noticeably.
The sensation was unlike anything he had experienced before. Where previous integrations had caused a burning heat, this one chilled him to the core.
Minutes later, the process concluded, and the frost dissipated. Fugaku flexed his fingers, feeling a newfound power coursing through him. A faint smile graced his lips.
He raised his hand, focusing on the Ice Release Kekkei Genkai now embedded in his body. A sharp, conical shard of ice materialized above his palm, glinting in the chamber's dim light. With a flick of his wrist, he sent it hurtling toward the wall, where it shattered upon impact.
"Not bad," he muttered, though he quickly realized its limitations. The Ice Release he had gained from the first corpse was weaker than Yukiko's innate ability.
Still, this was only the beginning. Reaching for the scroll, Fugaku unsealed two more Snow Clan corpses and repeated the process. Each time, the chilling sensation returned, but his body adapted, growing more resistant to the cold.
The results were immediate and tangible. His Ice Release abilities became stronger with each integration. He conjured an ice spike from the ground, its sharp tip gleaming dangerously as white mist curled around it.
"This is more like it," he said, nodding in satisfaction. Though still inferior to Yukiko's potential, his Ice Release had reached a usable level.
Determined to push further, Fugaku continued the process with the remaining corpses. One by one, he integrated the genetic essence of the Snow Clan members, each time enhancing his Kekkei Genkai. By the time he had finished with all the corpses, his Ice Release had surpassed even Yukiko's natural talent.
Standing in the middle of the chamber, Fugaku clenched his fists, summoning a wave of frost that coated the walls in crystalline patterns. He marveled at the power he now wielded.
"With this level of Ice Release," he mused, "I can reach Kage-level combat strength even without relying on the Mangekyō Sharingan."
This newfound power had practical implications. The Sharingan was his most potent weapon, but its distinctive abilities often revealed his identity. Now, with Ice Release at his disposal, Fugaku could fight under the guise of a completely different ninja, masking his true identity.
"Anonymity has its advantages," he thought, a satisfied smile tugging at his lips.
The integration complete, Fugaku sealed the remaining materials and began planning his next steps. His journey to the Land of Water had yielded incredible results, and he was eager to continue expanding his arsenal of abilities.
