The notifications from the wealthy group were turned off.
It was already noon.
Arthur and his three roommates went to the cafeteria together for lunch.
The lunch at the school cafeteria was very cheap, and a meal didn't cost much.
No one would have expected that just after brushing more than ten thousand Lion's wealthy Smoking President on the live streaming platform, Arthur would be eating cheap cafeteria lunch and even hesitating to order a meat dish.
"Maggie, what should I do now? Arthur seems unwilling to talk to me," Una held her phone that hadn't received a reply for hours, feeling very upset.
"Una, what's been going on with you lately? Arthur used to always listen to you. Why do you feel less confident in front of him now that you know he's wealthy? You can't do this. You see, men are naturally foolish. The more you indulge him, the more he'll ignore you. Just treat him the way you used to. If he ignores you, you can ignore him too!" Maggie suggested.
"But I feel like that method won't work anymore. Arthur now has several other women after him—Xanthe from the Art Academy and Judy from the Student Union. If I continue to ignore him like before, he might be attracted to those other two women!" Una shook her head with disappointment. Things were different now. Before, Arthur only pursued her. Now he has competition from two others, and they're not lacking in looks or charm.
"Well, thinking about it, that makes sense. You know, Arthur pursued you for three years without giving up, which shows you hold a special place in his heart. Men have a thing for their first loves. You're his first love, and no other woman can compare to that. So maybe Arthur is being cold to you now because he wants to vent his frustration, especially after how you treated him before. Once he's vented enough and calmed down, he'll probably forgive you. That's when your chance will come!" Maggie offered a rational analysis.
Una found this reasoning sensible. Perhaps if she reversed their roles, she would understand why Arthur wasn't responding to her messages.
"I understand, Maggie. To win Arthur back, I need to let him cool down first. I won't give up!" Una declared.
"Go for it, Una! You can do it!" Maggie cheered, showing support outwardly while feeling disdain inside.
"You used to reject him and treat him like a fool. Now that you know he's wealthy, suddenly you remember his good qualities? Dream on! But Una won't get the chance anymore. What about me? It'd be a bit shameless to chat directly with Arthur. Jay, Arthur's roommate, seems interested in me. I can use that relationship..."
After lunch, Dave, Jay, Rex, and the others dragged Arthur to an internet café to play League of Legends. Initially reluctant, they all agreed since they had no afternoon classes. As students, their main activities were either sleeping in the dorms or traveling outside. The most popular activity, besides those, was playing games at internet cafes.
"Hey, do you have four consecutive seats?" Dave asked as soon as they entered.
"Yeah, business hasn't been good lately, so we have plenty of available spots!" The girl at the counter, who seemed quite attractive, replied with a smile.
"Xanthe, what are you doing here? Are you working as a manager at the internet café?" Arthur asked, puzzled, seeing Xanthe at the counter.
"I'm not a manager. This internet café is owned by my family! Didn't you know?" Xanthe was excited. She didn't expect to meet Arthur here. Her family owned seventeen internet cafes, and due to the pandemic, they hadn't recovered financially. They were about to pay the rent for this internet café, which was located near the school and cost $200,000 annually.
"Wow, I had no idea. Your family is really wealthy. They own the entire 'Hello Internet Café' chain?" Rex asked, astonished.
"Yeah, but all our internet cafes are struggling now. We're almost bankrupt!" Xanthe admitted openly, giving Arthur a meaningful glance. Without Arthur's $5 million loan, her family's internet café business would have collapsed.
"You're amazing, Xanthe. You're actually from a wealthy family?" Jay admired her.
"There were a lot of rumors about you being a Materialistic Woman in school before, but now it seems they were all false!" Dave chuckled, glancing at Arthur, implying that Arthur had been incredibly lucky.
"They were right. I am a Materialistic Woman. Just because we know each other doesn't mean you get freebies, huh! Of course, Arthur is an exception. He can use my internet café for free anytime!" Xanthe joked naturally, diffusing a potentially awkward topic and boosting Arthur's ego.
"Damn, Arthur, why don't you just date her?" "I'm going to puke!" "Damn it, why doesn't any girl pursue me? Am I not handsome enough?" Rex couldn't understand why Arthur suddenly attracted the attention of three girls.
In the dormitory, Rex has always been the best at picking up girls. He's eloquent, handsome, and has a witty sense of humor. Over his three years in college, he's already dated seven or eight girls. Of course, he's not picky; as long as someone has a bit of attractiveness, he's interested, regardless of whether they are high-scoring or not.
Now, the three girls who are pursuing Arthur all seem to be high-caliber, each one more beautiful than the last. It makes no sense!
"Let's start a five-man team, Maggie is coming over soon!" Jay suddenly said.
"Who's Maggie? Isn't she Una's best friend? When did you meet her, Jay?" Rex asked.
"Well, I've actually been pursuing her for a few months now. I feel like she has a good impression of me. Just now, when I mentioned that we roommates were going to play games at the internet café, she kindly offered to support us. Perfect, we have five people now. Haha, finally, I can show off my skills in front of a girl!" Jay said excitedly, rubbing his hands together.
