Has never been as right as it was in that moment I chose to ignore Lord Thomas Grey completely as I forged ahead.

"I'd like to discuss supply chain management. Any updates on our manufacturer negotiations?"

Lord Thomas turned crimson in rage. Silence fell among the board, but it seemed someone couldn't control himself as Caden snickered.

Caden Day has always been like that. Mischievous and funny. He would have been my friend if his father wasn't a co-conspirator with the Greys.

My father smiled and instead of feeling proud. I was mad. He shouldn't be smiling when there had been a part of him that expected me to fail. He had anticipated that I would lose it, I'm sure of it.

He doesn't get to glower with pride when he didn't believe I was capable of doing something worth being proud of.
