"..." Elsa stood before me, shock written all over her eyes as she felt the pain she had been under for years nowhere to be found. I pooled out a spear from my Requip dimension and handed it to her. Elsa wasted no time, holding the sword where she went on to use her Ice Spear magic.
In the falling snow, her spear moved with skillful movement, before she suddenly speared towards the heavens, causing countless numbers of ice spikes to shoot into the sky, where they stopped once their tips touched.
"This... how? I'm stronger than my prime!" She said in joy, regaining her magic was something she was, of course, happy with. She wanted to jump up and down like a little girl but had to keep herself from doing that.
"I purified your body and soul, this more than doubled your power. Once you can get your spirit back to its former peak, you should be at your newfound peak." I said with a smile while looking at the thick ice spears, each as big as a dragon.
"Thank you... when I return to the army, I want to be under you." She said with hopeful eyes, to which I shook my head.
"I have no skills in leading people, I'm still learning the ways of war, I plan to be under someone else once I join the battlefield," I said to which she nodded lightly in understanding.
"We should go party, I will go get Levi." She said unable to wait to tell her boyfriend, but I instantly shook my head with a blank look.
"Come on virgin, I just got my magic back. Is this about 11 days ago? I don't even remember what happened." She said to which I just kept looking at her blankly, my stance clear, which left her pouting.
"Fine, but I owe you a favor." She said while jumping into the air, and tossing the spear towards me. At the same time, she stabbed forward with her palm as if it were a spear, causing an ice spear to shoot from her palm, which she took hold of. Stabbing forward once more, an ice spike formed under her feet, shooting her off toward Levi.
"Well, the boost to her charm plus the fact she looks like she is 16 would be a shock to her," I said with a slight smile. I walked off, heading to the homeless spots where I have seen many former soldiers who had injuries so great, it shattered their spirits. I healed them all, even regrowing many of their limbs. That's right, a phoenix had the best healing capability, far above others. They can come back from death, regrowing other limbs wasn't so hard compared to that.
Of course, I needed my blood to help them regrow their limbs, but to avoid causing unneeded problems for myself, I hid the fact I was using my blood when regrowing limbs.
"That should be everyone, do you guys know others who need healing?" I asked seeing the missing half of the homeless man all grown back. This used up a lot of magical energy, but it was cool seeing I was making a difference. I of course only healed those with clean souls, I didn't want to heal those who would cause problems.
"N-no, this was everyone." A man said while trying to hold back his tears, I nodded at him, feeling awkward at his reaction. He wasn't alone, as everyone gave me these grateful-filled eyes.
"Wait, there are the dragons, many were left crippled." Someone said, remembering the dragons who lived at the back of the mountain. Due to their size, and injuries, a home was built for them in the empire, but the dragons instead didn't want to feel like a burden, so they moved elsewhere. That being the other side of the mountain.
"I see... for that, I will have to ask the queen. Again, thank you all for your work on the battlefield. I wish you the best of lives." I said paying my respect to all of them, but they all instead kneeled, catching me off guard.
"Ryu, you fed us when we were hungry. You bought clothing when we were cold, and you even helped our capable brothers, have a second chance at life... We thought long and hard about this, and we want to join you on the battlefield." They said, leaving me unable to speak for some time.
"You guys can't, you did your part, and endured enough. I don't want you guys to go back into that, so rest." I said while shaking my head, and with my hands exploding into flames, I shot off, giving them zero chances to say anything. But would something this small stop them?
I went to the library, where I went inside with the 3 books I got last time I came here. The old dragon seeing me back had his eyes narrow sensing the changes to my mind.
"I have returned, it's time for you to train me," I said with a smile, causing the dragon to laugh slightly while taking hold of the books with his mind.
"I can teach you a few mind-based magic, but I sadly can't teach you mine. If I could, then the war with the dragons wouldn't be so hard for us." He said while putting the books back where they belonged, while moving his old body, which he seemed to have not moved for months.
"Suffering from back pain?" I asked to which he nodded while sighing.
"Age comes with wisdom, but the weight of wisdom is heavy on the back." He said jokingly, to which I just smiled lightly.
"I have been thinking... what is the reason behind dragons and the phoenix war?" I asked causing the old dragon to pause for a moment. He seemed to remember his time in the war,
"That's a good question, one I never really bothered to ask. Why did we war against the phoenix? I guess it's because of jealousy for most." He said causing my eyebrow to raise.
"We dragons could live for what? 5,000 years max, the Phoenix could go for 10 times that. Although they were not as powerful as us, the many phoenixes' abilities were unique. I guess it started with one argument, between the dragon god and Phoenix god." He said softly, causing me to look at him in confusion as that was a new title.
"The dragon God is a title given to a dragon whose strength touches upon the divine. They are said to hold the power to destroy the world." He said leaving me stunned. One should know, that the countries of this world would be considered continents back on earth.
{I will link a picture to why I think a Country in Fairy Tail is as large as a continent. To make things simple, the distances between two nearby cities are more than 300 KM. Adding the size of the whole country, saying it's as big as a continent isn't too much of a stretch. For example, New York to California is over 4,000 km, but the image I would show shows two cities far too close to think the country isn't a continent.}
"I don't even know what happened to push it into a race war, looking back on it, what was the point of all that?" He said with a shake of his head.
"I see... then let me help you out," I said while creating phoenix flames, which shocked the old dragon. His eyes almost popped up while he jumped, creating a small earthquake, that knocked many books off their places.
"How?" He screamed, making many people there throw displease glares at him, causing him to quickly apologize, before putting all of the books where they should be.
"I met a phoenix, and it gifted me its magic before it died," I said to which the old dragon nodded lightly, before sighing. He let me heal him, to the dragon's amazement, he felt himself regaining his youth.
"I feel like I could go for an extra 1,000 years," he said with joy, he was only 3,000 years old, and although dragons could go beyond 5,000 years, it was like saying a human could live to 120 years old, but how many would live long enough to see 100?
Dragons were different, as they grew older, they slept more and more. Soon, they would not know if they would wake up from that sleep. In many cases, they die in their sleep, not of old age, but of other causes.
"Well, I have to teach you with everything I have now. I will start with the 2 basics, Telekinesis and Telepathy." He said while I followed him outside, where he had me get on top of him before he fled off, flying towards a spot in the empire where we could train.
Along the way, he explained to me what those 3 forms of magic were. Telekinesis was about having your mind break the barrier between itself and reality, allowing it to take hold of things within reality and control it. The heavier the thing one wants to move with Telekinesis, the more magical energy and spirit they would need. In simple terms, it was having your soul take the shape of a hand, which would affect the world around it.
Telepathy was having your mind break the barrier between yourself and other minds, allowing you to speak into other minds. But that was the basic, if your skills were sharp enough, you could go through a person's memory, manipulate their memory, and even mind control them. But that was super hard to do, and it was even harder to defend against.
"I almost forgot to give you my name. I'm Hypnos." The dragon said while we landed on the ground.
"Are you able to read my mind?" I asked to which Hypnos looked at me for a moment, before shaking his head with slight pain.
"There is a reason phoenixes can come back to life, their souls are also immortal. When you create your fire body, your soul becomes a fire soul. It acts as a shield from those trying to touch it... and your mind is even more unique, you seem to have conquered it. that is impressive, and it would make things far easier for me." He said to which I nodded while paying close attention to his following words.
"Firstly, go over this spell." He said while tapping my forehead, sending information into my mind. I closed my eyes to absorb the information. I stood there for a few minutes before I made my move, I held out my palm, a magic circle forming in front of me.
If one could see the image of a Telekinesis hand taking hold of something, one would see it holding a rock. I picked up the rock and moved it around at a rate that only got quicker and easier for me. thanks to the mastery of my mind, I quickly began getting used to this feeling, allowing me to put my hand down and control the rock with my mind, causing it to fly all over the place with a simple thought.
"It moves at the speed of thought, in other words, the faster you can think, the faster you can move something with your mind... then again, the weight of the item would get in the way of that... as well as the air, so the item might explode into flames if you do not enforce it with your mind," Hypnos said with slight shock seeing how fast I learned the spell. But he also noticed how a hint of fire was infused in my Telekinesis, which made his eyes narrow at just what that would mean.
"That spell was called mind hand a simple spell... I will try and teach you one of my spells. This one is called Mind Dragon Claw." He said while something slammed down next to me, leaving behind the imprint of a dragon claw. After showing me, he gave me the way to use the spell, before watching with interest.
After a moment, a dragon imprint slammed down next to the dragon claw, just slightly burnt, and a bit red. The dragon was surprised as that was a dragon art, a human shouldn't be able to just copy it.
"Oh, I forgot to say this. But I'm part dragon. I'm a part human, dragon, and I guess phoenix. I was wondering if the dragon part of me would allow me to learn dragon magic. I seem to have been right" I said causing Hypnos to blink for some time before he jumped to his feet,
"How?" He asked, as one might be able to guess, he was a bookworm. he loved knowledge, and he liked collecting information, so he instantly wanted to know.
"This is a secret, but I was near death's door, and my brother used the DNA of a dragon to help heal me... I don't want to talk about it." I sighed. I didn't like lying. but Irene forbids me from talking about my brother, knowing the chaos that would cause. She didn't even want to know his name out of fear she might try to ask him to bring someone to life.
"Oh... Sorry, I didn't mean to bring back bad memories. but this could be what we need to turn the war around. You hold the secret to help us win." He said in joy, to which I shook my head.
"I only lived thanks to my magic, they didn't know the soul of the phoenix was inside me, leading me to go through a rebirth while taking in the dragon DNA." I lied again, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.
"Oh, and only a phoenix could pass on such things... then, I think it's clear what I have to do. I will turn you into a Dragon Slayer." He said, although he couldn't read my mind, he knew one thing. I could be trusted... well, more like my mind was giving off no ill thoughts towards the empire, or anyone at that thought. He noticed this the last time he saw me where he saw my soul was lost, in pain, regret, and so on.
"I plan to do just that, I will not disappoint the queen again. That I promise on my life." I said with flames burning in my eyes. Which made Hypnos smile lightly, nodding in approval. Who didn't love the queen...
"Spying on him again?" Belserion asked, causing Irene to jump. She was sitting before a crystal ball, which she had enchanted to allow her to watch my training.
"Don't sneak up on me like that, not when I'm doing something that could be considered perverted like this," Irene said with a sigh, she of course had to spy on her knight.
"You don't have to blame yourself," Belserion said to which Irene said nothing. She of course blamed herself, she was the one who told a child to go to the battlefield, and on top of that, she was so harsh with him after hearing he slaughtered so many people.
"I'm looking for another reason to keep him far away from the war, he isn't ready for war. He is still learning and is finding his way. I don't want to do more damage than I already had." Irene said with a sigh.
"You think he would care? Let the boy care for that burden of yours, you have more things to worry about as the nobles are pressing you into marrying. They are making the excuse of needing a new air to the throne, but it's clear they want you to marry Rung." Belserion said with a sigh
"Don't remind me," Irene said while rubbing her head, she could easily avoid all of this by getting married. but who would she marry? She had no interest in sex or love. Her interests are elsewhere.
'If only he was older...' Irene thought, before shaking her head, as that wasn't a good idea on so many levels.
