บท 65: Fight Starts

Valor could feel an immense pressure from Issei's Balance Breaker, a formidable power that he'd anticipated but had not expected to manifest so soon. As the crimson armor surrounding Issei's body gleamed with the aura of the Boosted Gear, Valor narrowed his eyes. He was aware of the legends surrounding the wielder of the Red Dragon Emperor, but even so, he remained unfazed.

With a grin on his face, Valor hurled the Excalibur fragments into the air. The shards ascended with an eerie precision, each of the five pieces moving as if guided by an unseen force. They hovered in the sky, aligning themselves into the shape of a pentagon. As the swords converged, an ominous energy began to radiate from them, filling the battlefield with a sense of dread.

Both peerages turned their attention to the sky, confusion etched on their faces. The sight of the Excalibur fragments forming a pentagonal formation was unsettling. Something was happening, and it wasn't good.

"What the hell is he planning…?" Kiba muttered under his breath, his hand tightening around his demonic sword. He could feel the weight of the situation, the raw power resonating from the swords was suffocating. Without hesitation, Kiba charged forward, his only thought being to destroy the swords before whatever was happening could reach completion.

Kiba's sword gleamed as he swung it toward the Excalibur fragments, but as soon as his blade made contact, a loud crack echoed through the air. His sword shattered upon impact, breaking into a thousand pieces. Kiba's eyes widened in shock as a wave of holy energy surged through him. The moment it touched his skin, a searing pain ripped through his body, causing him to scream in agony.

"KIBA!" Issei's shout cut through the chaos. Without a second thought, he leapt toward his fallen comrade. Valor, sensing an opportunity, swung his sword toward Issei's back, but the Red Dragon Emperor ignored the attack, enduring the blow as he reached for Kiba. His back burned from the strike, but he pushed through the pain, pulling Kiba out of the holy aura and bringing him to safety.

Both of them landed back on the ground with a heavy thud. Issei staggered to his feet, his body trembling from the weight of the injuries he had just sustained. Kiba, however, wasn't in any shape to stand. His body was still reeling from the effects of the holy energy, his face twisted in pain.

Rias, seeing the state of her comrades, clenched her fists. Fury coursed through her veins, her crimson eyes narrowing in on Valor. In a split second, she gathered her demonic energy and unleashed a blast of the Power of Destruction aimed directly at him. The dark, destructive energy surged forward, forcing Valor to abandon his attack and leap backward to avoid the incoming blast.

The destructive energy tore through the air, obliterating everything in its path. Houses within the barrier were reduced to rubble, but the real world remained untouched, safely encased in the magical barrier. Valor's eyes flickered with interest as he surveyed the aftermath of Rias's attack.

"Well, well," he remarked, his voice carrying a hint of amusement. "The princess of the Gremory Clan has some bite after all. I must admit, I'm impressed. Let's see if you can keep me entertained." His grin widened as he prepared for the next assault.

Rias met his gaze with a cold, unwavering stare. "Entertain you?" she spat, her voice dripping with venom. "I don't plan on giving you that luxury. You won't be alive long enough to enjoy it."

Valor chuckled darkly, but before he could respond, a bolt of lightning shot toward him. He barely managed to dodge it, the electricity crackling dangerously close to his body. His eyes snapped to the sky, where Akeno hovered with a predatory smile on her face.

Her purple eyes gleamed with sadistic glee, and her lips curled into a smirk as she watched him narrowly escape her attack. "You should surrender now," Akeno teased, her voice smooth and mocking. Lightning crackled around her body as she licked her lips, her tone dropping seductively, "Before you accidentally get fried by a stray bolt."

Valor's attention was divided between the various attacks coming his way, but he remained composed. Just as he was about to respond, he felt a surge of force behind him. Without turning, he raised his arm and blocked a powerful punch from Koneko, who had aimed directly for his head. Although he managed to stop her fist, the sheer strength behind her blow sent a shockwave through his body.

"She's strong," Valor thought, briefly impressed by the raw power Koneko possessed despite her small stature. But before he could dwell on it, he threw her back with a swift motion, putting some distance between himself and the onslaught of attacks.

Meanwhile, Asia knelt beside Kiba and Issei, her hands glowing with healing light as she worked to restore their strength. Her gentle magic flowed into their bodies, knitting wounds and easing the pain. Issei, feeling the rejuvenating effects of her healing, gently placed his hand on her head.

"Asia," he said, his voice low and serious. "You need to get out of here. Find a place to hide, fast."

Asia's eyes widened in concern, but she nodded. She understood the gravity of the situation and knew that staying would only put her in more danger. Without another word, she hurried to find cover.

Kiba, on the other hand, wasn't so easily convinced. Though Asia's healing had restored him, he stared up at the pentagonal formation in the sky with a feeling of helplessness. His sword had shattered against those Excalibur fragments, and his strongest attack had failed. If that was the best he could do, what hope did they have?

Issei noticed the doubt in Kiba's eyes and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Kiba-senpai," he began, his tone serious. "I know things look bad right now, but you can't give up. You have a Sacred Gear too, right? There's gotta be a Balance Breaker in there somewhere, just like mine. We need you to use it."

Kiba glanced at Issei, his mind racing. He had always felt inferior, always struggled with the trauma of losing his friends to Valper Galilei's experiments. But now, standing here with his new family—the peerage he had sworn to protect—he realized he couldn't let that fear hold him back any longer.

"Izashi-sama's words…" Kiba thought, recalling a lesson from the past. "A sword is only as great as its user."

A small smile tugged at the corners of his lips. He had been holding himself back, allowing his fear and guilt to weaken his resolve. But now, that had to change. He straightened, determination flaring in his eyes.

Just as he was about to charge at Valor again, a voice echoed across the battlefield, sending a chill down his spine.

"Well, well, if it isn't my old test subject. Isaiah, wasn't it?" The voice was laced with malice, and Kiba's blood ran cold. "You ran from me, and now it looks like you've joined the devils. How pathetic."

Kiba's heart sank as he recognized the voice. It was Valper Galilei, the man responsible for the twisted experiments that had taken the lives of his friends. The hatred he had buried deep inside surged to the surface as he turned to face the man. "Valper…"

Valper smirked, his eyes gleaming with sick amusement. "Ah, so you do remember me. How sweet. I was wondering if you'd forgotten your dear old mentor."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small blue crystal, holding it up for Kiba to see. "Do you remember those failures who were with you in that project? I made something out of them. Disappointing, really… but why don't you take it as a keepsake?"

With a casual toss, Valper threw the crystal toward Kiba. Kiba caught it instinctively, his hands trembling as he held the delicate object. As soon as it touched his skin, the crystal shattered, and a torrent of memories overwhelmed him. The souls of his fallen friends appeared before his eyes, their voices echoing in his mind.

This wasn't reality, but Kiba's own perception warping under the weight of his emotions.

As Kiba stood frozen in place, Issei turned his attention to Izashi, who was engaged in his own battle with Kokabiel. Izashi deflected yet another Light Spear from the fallen angel, his movements casual and almost lazy. Kokabiel's face twisted in frustration, his patience wearing thin.

"And you wanted my brother to come here?" Izashi said with a smirk, his tone dripping with arrogance. "Are you an idiot? This war would've been over before it even started. You'd be dead before you could blink, or worse, kept alive just so they could beat the crap out of you whenever they got bored."

Kokabiel snarled, launching another Holy Lance toward Izashi. But the attack was effortlessly crushed in Izashi's hand, his aura flaring with dangerous intensity. "... Just like how I'm going to deal with you."

Kokabiel's eyes widened as he felt the pressure of Izashi's power. It was suffocating.

"You're too arrogant!" Kokabiel spat, trying to maintain his composure. "You're fighting one of the top fallen angels—"

"If you're one of the top fallen angels," Izashi interrupted with a cold smile, "then your entire race is a joke."

With that, Izashi unleashed a blast of demonic energy so powerful that it tore through the battlefield, shaking the very foundations of the barrier.

"I really hope you won't die with this move of mine; it had taken away the fun from the fight, wouldn't you say?" He shot of a strong beam from his hands, the beam seemed to go straight with destroying everything in its path.

Kokabiel could detect a strong amount of power from this beam so he did his best to dodge the incoming attack. He flew towards his right and was fortunate enough to dodge it without a single scratch.

However, when he turned his eyes towards Izashi, he found that he was missing from his original position. He turned his head towards his left and right and tried to find him, his eyes widened when he saw Izashi right in front of him approaching him with a high speed, he had a large ball shaped energy in his right hand which was burning with flames while being made up of the Power of Destruction.
