••• Arabella’s POV •••
I became so flustered when I heard Max’s mom’s voice asking if she could come in.
“Go and open the door.”
I pushed Max away and went to sit on the bed, leaning against the headboard, trying to look as if nothing had almost happened between us.
Max looked upset, whether because of his mom’s interruption or of me pushing him away, but it was his mom on the other side of the door, and we couldn't ignore her.
“Open the door,” I whispered and urged him again.
He looked at me and heaved out a long sigh before getting off the bed and opening the door.
“Mom,” Mam greeted his mother.
“Is Ari awake?” Max’s mom asked.
“She is,” Max answered and opened the door wider to let his mom in.
“Ari, you are awake,” Max’s mom smiled at me. “I brought you medicinal herbs.”
She gestured to the door, and two Omegas appeared carrying a few paper bags, which I assumed contained the traditional herbs Max’s mom had bought for me and placed them on the table.
