Nicolas's eyelids snapped wide open as he stopped working on the gadgets that he was going to teach Loki with and looked out of his room and in the direction of the Warehouse.
Prenelle did the same.
Nicolas had a somewhat fearful look on his face as if several terrible memories had been brought to the surface of his mind while Prenelle looked at it with a sort of reverence.
But neither moved from their spots.
Fleur on the other hand was a little startled by the divine presence and by the deep reverberating voice.
She'd conducted several rituals before that involved communication with True Gods, but never had she seen one personally or even caused one to speak to her.
It was always a strict silence in which the deity of her choosing analysed her and calmly responded to her by performing an action to indicate whether they liked or disliked the contents of her ritual.
Knowing that it would be wrong to keep looking at a True God, Fleur quickly lowered her head in an attempt to avoid angering the God in front of her.
That was when she saw a sudden burst of golden light that exploded in her vision. The angelic lights dimmed for a second but they did not vanish, instead they coalesced into a gigantic figure of maddening proportions that was white on one side and black on the other.
'An angel!?' Fleur thought, her mouth agape.
The angel had six pairs of wings around itself and appeared to be honoured with a golden crown made of the same holy light that floated just above its head.
Fleur didn't have a lot of time to analyse the situation as the angel fell onto her with its wings and hands wrapping tightly around her as if it were the blanket that protected her from the bitter cold around her.
A feeling of joy sprouted in Fleur's heart as the warmth spread all around her but the feeling was soon drowned out by confusion when a tall door shut out her vision of the grand and benevolent god that had just helped her.
'Zhat's all?'
Fleur was confused about what had just happened.
She tried examining herself with spirit vision to see if there was anything different about her, but she couldn't find anything amiss.
'But…'
Fleur was a little lost about what she had to do next.
'Is Gabrielle cured?'
Fleur quickly pulled out a small sand bottle that she had left tied around her neck, it contained some of Gabrielle's hair but the hair appeared to be smouldering despite being corked causing Fleur's heart to drop.
She found tears climbing into her eyes but she couldn't understand what had happened.
Yet she somehow managed to keep herself calm using cogitation as she tried to analyse everything that had just happened rationally.
'No…I asked for 'Him' to simply cure the error that had been restricting my ability to converse with 'Her'.'
'Then I can perform the ritual for 'Her' now?'
Fleru quickly took out a few more of her candles and placed them on the makeshift altar after clearing out the previous candles religiously.
And then she quickly repeated the steps from earlier but chanted words that pointed in a different direction.
"I"
"I pray for zthe power of calamity."
"I pray for zthe power of chaos."
"I pray for zthe Goddess's loving grace."
Fleur then took out some of the hair from the small bottle before setting it aflame with the third candle that represented her.
"I pray for zthe Goddess's great powers to cure my sister of zthe curse zthat was inflicted on her when I failed to perform zthe ritual to create a plague charm."
"Corpse Flower grout, a fragrance that belongs to calamity, I pray for you to bestow powers to my incantation.
"Asphodel dew, a fragrance that belongs to mirrored perfection, I pray for you to bestow powers…to…my…incantation."
Fleur kept her eyes closed as she hoped with all the anticipation in her body for a response.
Her voice had faltered in the end because of the several times she'd been rejected before, but Fleur now hoped for something to change. Perhaps even if the Primordial Demoness gave her a reason as to why her sister couldn't be cured she could work on it to help her.
It didn't matter if the task set before her was impossible, she wanted to be finally able to have help from the goddess who had so abruptly abandoned her.
Fleur kept her eyes closed for nearly a minute but nothing seemed to be happening. Nothing different from all the other times she was rejected.
Gabrielle's hair that was pinched between her fingers was all but gone and the candles flickered as she found herself trembling in fear of rejection again.
But just as she'd given up all hope and was about to drop her hand she felt a strange force work around her.
All of a sudden she felt the gaze of a being she was so familiar with.
There were no flashy entrances with lights or even sounds, but Fleur knew that the Primordial Demoness was looking over her.
All of a sudden however the gaze flinched as it flickered before it vanished.
Fleur's heart stopped.
She remained in her kneeling posture out of shock at being rejected again, but some of the colour that had been drained from her face returned when she felt the gaze come back.
The gaze slowly examined Fleur as she remained kneeling.
The gaze felt threatening at times as if it wanted to destroy Fleur with a simple blink but since Fleur could feel the caution in it as she was examined she did not dare move, not even when the flames of the candle she was using to burn Gabrielle's hair started toasting her finger.
Fleur did her best to wish and make known to the Goddess looking over her that she was ready to do anything to help her sister.
After a few seconds, just as the hair in between Fleur's fingers was about to burn away, she found the hair flashing as if it were a spark before it vanished in a moment.
The gaze lingered for a few seconds longer and just as Fleur felt herself slowly losing control because of prolonged exposure to her Goddess's gaze she found it vanish.
Fleur collapsed onto the floor as she quickly checked on the small glass bottle with Gabrielle's hair.
'It iz no longer smoking!'
A joyous brightness lightened Fleur's chest as she realised that her sister had most likely been cured.
But that was when she suddenly froze in shock and worry.
'But…'
'Zhat god…'
'He never asked me to pay a price for his help…'
Loki who was looking at Fleur through the crimson star that represented her saw the smouldering hair in her bottle simmer out as it naturally died out.
Then his gaze through the crimson star slowly shifted itself as it looked around the area, noticing the several runes and wards drawn around the Flamel's house before he cut off his connection with a small smile.
'Now that I know which crimson star is her's I guess I can ask her or even cheek for some help when I need it after today.'
'I mean I did help Cheek by giving her a reason to stop being embarrassed like a little girl…'
'I'm sure she'll see the merit in forming a partnership with me and helping me out a little.'
'Especially because I'm letting her vessel into my little castle…'
