Emma let out a tired sigh as she looked at Nick's face. 

This dispute had been tricky, to begin with, but the fact that a pureblood child had been hurt from the vampire's side complicated things even more.

Pureblood children were rare for any race, but they were also the race's most precious resource.

It was even rarer for an immortal race like vampires to reproduce since their bodies were wired differently. At present, only about 100 or so pureblood children exist for vampires, and the number is lessening every decade.

"Would you mind if I take a look at the body? I am sure my subordinates have thoroughly checked, but I would also like to look."

Emma was a diplomat and tried to be as calm as possible. But everyone tensed up at her question, even her people. The wolves behind her had a guilty look in their eyes.
