บท 8: Interval Two: Droid 101

I don't own star was.

it's just a small day in the life of living with Short-round.

So attesting to the fact that I stole the Scarlet Rebel I can honestly admit that I wasn't quite aware as to just how much space it concealed. So when Yura, Milky, and I found Short-round's hidden storage room I admit I was impressed at his collection…

"…Smells like sweaty jawa in here…" Milky announced loudly as she stepped over some scrap, pausing slightly at the large and oddly phallic-shaped metal rod. Lifting it, she viewed it thoughtfully before she caught me staring and smiled sheepishly adding in a shrug and a cute ear twitch "Eh… brought back memories…" she tossed it over her shoulder and rubbed up against me as she passed by, "…And ideas for later…" she cooed and viewed what looked like a stack of old blasters.

"Hey who's messing with my stuff?!" came Short-rounds voice as it echoed around the storage room, and naturally out popped Short-round from a vent in the floor blinking irritated at us. "Oh… figures…"

"Short-round where did all this come from?" I asked gesturing to the mass of metal and equipment.

"Oh… well over there…" he waved his screwdriver to the left of the room, "Is Mos Eisley and the Dune Sea and over there…" he gestured to the right of the room, "Is what I pocketed from all the jobs you took. And that stuff in the center there?" he gestured to the center of the room at a less dusty cluttering of stuff. "I found the first time we were on Nar Shaddaa. You know, while you were plowing Milky for her private retirement video in your room…"

Milky glared him coolly, over my shoulder, "…I expect a copy of that night Short-round…"

"Ultra-vid or regular portable?" he asked naturally, viewing the contents of his pouch.

"Ultra?!" she asked suddenly, quickly walking towards him, "You've got ultra-vid of that night!?"

"I got Ultra-vid of everything…" he replied dismissively while digging deeply into his bag. "Huh… maybe not in this bag… hold on."

And with that he was back in the vents.

I, however, smirked knowingly at her, I imagine if she wasn't covered in fur she would be blushing. "..What?" she asked indignantly, "I can appreciate good work too you know…"

"Whose work are you appreciating?" Yura asked smugly as she dug through the stack of blasters in the 'jobs' pile.

Milky chose, rather tellingly, not to answer and not meet my eyes as she quickly approached Yura they began a very whispered conversation. I on the other hand decided to distract myself among Short-Rounds treasures, "Hey buddy now that I think about it how's my slugthrower coming along?"

Short-round's voice echoed around the room from somewhere in the vents, "Eh…" he replied bluntly, "Little tougher than I thought boss… at first I settled on the old trandoshan design but then I figured I could improve on the grip, and fire-rate so I mixed in some old Czerka tech… didn't quite work…"

"Didn't quite work… how?" I asked as I pulled away a heavy piece of sheet metal and found the torso of a protocol droid with several pieces of embedded shrapnel.

"The rounds didn't heat enough." Short-round replied from… well somewhere, "Tore up the hull something bad. Don't worry though I got it patched before we hit atmo."

"…Comforting…" I mumbled but wrote it off, Short-round tended to know what he was doing. I on the other hand kept shifting through the pieces of tech until a saw something interesting in the 'Nar Shaddaa' section. It looked like a droid chest piece… but it was much larger. I could just barely make out the letters painted on its chest. Moving a piece here, and moving a piece there I cleared it away enough to read…

IDD-101

"That seems so familiar…" I said out loud, delving into my memory trying to recall what I recognized that serial number from.

"Aha!" Short-round shouted above me, causing the vent latch to drop and slam onto the 'Nar Shaddaa' pile… the scrap shifted and the droid chest piece was revealed fully… along with a head. A single and ominous cyclopean thing with bits of exposed wiring on the cracked armor of its head…

And then it came back to me like a punch to the gut.

"Oh Fuck…" I breathed.

"What, right now?" Yura asked promptly, never missing a chance.

"Okay, that's not as funny right now…" I said softly, not taking my eyes off the droid which seemed to be… flicking slightly from the sudden physical shock.

"It's kinda funny…" Milky replied, staring down at the sight of a long blaster rifle, before putting it back into the pile, "I don't think he understands what that word means to us when he says it…" she giggled to Yura.

"Well I think he'll learn… or we'll teach him… whichever cums first…"

"Probably him!" Milky laughed causing both of them to erupt into giggles as the eye of the droid flicked to the sound.

Oh fuck I was going to die to puns… I was not amused.

I hissed at them for quiet and finding my nervous instruction rude they turned to find me staring down a 'dead' droid. "Okay listen… we need to get out of this room slowly. And carefully, and dump this stuff onto the closet asteroid…"

Completely ignoring my instructions they walked up behind me to stare at the droid, "What's that?" Milky asked, eying the thing.

"It's a prototype Imperial Destroyer Droid." I said calmly, slowly walking backward with them. "My sisters told me about it after it was sent out for pacification testing in the Nar Shaddaa slums."

"Oh? How did that work out?" Milky asked bitterly, it was no secret she didn't like the empire. We were definitely cool… or you know hot depending on the moment, but she wasn't amused regardless.

"Well, it sort of failed… it killed everything in the testing area, out of the testing area… and the testers…" I said slowly as to my horror the eye seemed to dimly glow with more strength. "It generally killed everything until my mother sent in bombers to carpet the area…"

"…That sounds…" Yura began but suddenly realized that the droid was sparking to life. "Oh fuck that looks bad…"

"But it's broken right?" Milky asked hesitantly trying to ignore the fact that it was obviously waking up. Suddenly the eye glowed prominently, its red infrared laser locking onto us, "Well it doesn't have any weapons right?"

It suddenly smashed through the scrap to its right, aiming a slightly damaged triple blaster barrel hand that slowly began to turn, warming up, "Milky stop talking!" I shouted and caught them with my shoulders and with a burst of adrenaline through my veins I carried them away from the droid and tossed them behind the long durasteel crate that Short-round used as a working desk before diving behind a far less safe sheet of scrap ship plating as the blaster roared into dangerous life spitting fire like raindrops in a storm.

You have to understand, we were safely on the ship. No guns, no armor. Nothing. This was a fucking nightmare.

"FUCK!!!" we screamed together. Milky and Yura cradled each other and kept their heads down as the screaming metal horror rained down hot death at us.

"Okay I'm sorry, it's not funny anymore!" Milky shouted at me apologetically.

"How do we stop it!?" Yura shouted over the noise.

"Well!" I began sarcastically, "Considering a carpet bombing of tie bombers didn't exactly do it, I'd say a lightsaber!"

"Okay I'm sorry, don't be snippy!" she shouted back over the rata-tat of the blaster, "Maybe Short-round has an idea!"

"Or a lightsaber!"Milky added, "At this point, I'd believe anything!"

"Short-Round!" we shouted together just as the droid ceased its firing.

"What's up guys?" he asked popping out of the vents above them just as the droid reacted to the movement. Aiming up at him, "Oh shit!" he quickly ducked back up into the vent just as the hole was peppered with blaster fire…

A small communicator was suddenly tossed down to me… it began to ring so I answered.

"What the fuck did you do!?" Short-round's voice demanded indignantly over the com.

"What the fuck were you thinking bringing a fucking IMPERIAL WAR DROID onto my ship?!" I replied, just as indignant, looking around my metal plate and taking cover again as the droid opened fire reflexively.

"IT WAS BROKEN!" he shouted, trying to justify it.

"OBVIOUSLY!" the girls and I yelled sarcastically back as its gatling blaster continued to fire.

The blasting stopped again and this time I didn't look around the plate providing my cover, "Okay anyone got any ideas? Or should we just accept our new lives of fear?" Yura asked, watching me carefully as my mind tried hard to remember something. Anything about the IDD…

"Short-round do you think you can disable it?" I asked, remembering the vent grate that had dropped earlier, clearly close enough to it for Short-round.

"I don't know…" he replied over the com, "I mean I was going to look into it but I never got the time. Even if I manage to get on it I'd need to look for the right wiring…"

"Okay Short-Round…" I said, remembering, the exposed wiring on the back of its heads, "Its head has circuitry expose. Maybe you can turn off its targeting." Forgetting for half a second what I was dealing with I looked around the plate to view it. Pulling back immediately as a sweeping wave of hot blaster fire again peppered against the plate. "Right! Fucking right!" I grumbled, "Short-round we'll keep it firing at us alright! get on it and shut it off!"

"How will I know if that'll work!?" he replied.

"Seriously?!" the girls replied as the blaster fire ceased.

"Short-round it's not fucking warp science!" I shouted into the com, "It's a droid!"

The com was silent for a moment as Short-round seemed to think on it; finally it cackled out static, "Okay… I'm ready. Get it firing again…

Well I was good at that… sticking my head out and pulling it back quickly the blaster once more began to fire. Then there was the sound of something heavy landing into the room over the blaster fire and the sudden fizzling of power as the blaster fire ceased…

"Got it!" Short-round shouted happily, waving a handful of wiring in his hand as he sat on to the depowered droid. The girls and I looked hesitantly over our cover as he easily removed the plating on the droid's gatling arm, then in half a heartbeat he separated the arm and let it crash loudly to the floor. "Alright, it should be safe now…"

The droid, now fully exposed had no legs or treads, and it was missing its left arm. I suppose theoretically, Short-round was right in thinking it was broken. Still though, it didn't stop Yura from violently shaking him.

"A war droid?! Really!" she screamed at him, shaking him back and forth as he dangled in the air.

"Ah! I get it! I'm sorry!" here replied dizzy, "I figured I could scrap later it for parts!"

"SCRAP IT NOW!" we shouted together as the unresponsive droid, now thoroughly off balance fell forward with a crash to the floor causing us to back away cursing. We all stood still… having come so close to death in a place with all considered safe was a little… well it was fucking unnerving. Even if the droid was essentially and literally disarmed I wanted it fucking gone.

"Seriously Short-round scrap it." I said pointing to it, "Or kick it off, I don't care I want it gone…"

Short-round sighed as he got up from where Yura had dropped him in surprise, "Right right…" he mumbled sheepishly pulling various tools from his satchel. "What a waste though…"

Collectively and silently the girls and I decided we needed a fucking drink and a nap to relax… when Short-round suddenly remembered. "Oh right, Milky…" he pulled out his hand from the satchel and handed her the ultra-vid disk. "There you go."

Milky stared at it for a moment, then eyed me with a look I had quickly grown to love about her she grabbed Yura and my arm while making a beeline for my room dragging us along.

Well, I guess there are other ways to relax…

End of interval.

In hindsight, this might not be an interval. But when I wrote it years ago I was hesitant in posting it on Hentai Foundry because it didn't have any hentai in it, but I got over it. I now I can't really change it because of the numbered 64 other intervals ... so an interval it remains.
