When Lucian arrived at his palace, he dismounted his horse and handed the reins to a guard. He glanced around the messy palace grounds where the Emperor's soldiers had not bothered to put back all the things they'd scattered while searching for his non-existent treason documents.
His fifty soldiers, whom he had secretly been training on his premises to test if the spy in his palace would report to the Emperor, had been captured and locked up in the dungeon for going against the rules to serve an exiled prince.
Lucian thought of the treason he did indeed plan to commit, confident that when he finally did, they wouldn't see it coming.
