"Richard!!! You bastard!!!"
Outside the set, as soon as Richard answered the phone, a roar blasted through the receiver, making his eardrums buzz.
"Hey, dear Charlize, who made you unhappy? Tell me, and I'll make sure to beat him up."
Richard asked, picking at his ear.
"It's you, Richard, you bastard! You filthy liar! What did you draw in that painting? That woman is fat, ugly, and looks fierce. Are you saying that's me? Are you saying I'll look like that in five years?!"
Charlize furiously shouted.
"Oh, you received the portrait. FedEx is way too slow. I want to complain about them. Do you think I'll win?"
"Bastard, don't change the subject. Tell me now, tell me the truth. If you lie, I'll block your number."
Charlize threatened.
"I saw it, maybe it was a vision, but I didn't lie to you. Gypsies never lie."
Richard said seriously.
"Why would I look like that?"
Charlize asked, frowning.
"I don't know, maybe my bloodline isn't pure enough. When I met you, I only saw that one image."
"Ha, bloodline? More lies. You're a big liar, I'm going to block you."
Charlize said angrily.
"Wait, don't rush. I can analyze it for you."
"Analyze what?"
"The source of that vision. Look closely at the painting."
"What's wrong with it?"
Charlize asked.
"According to Gypsy clairvoyance, the vision I see now is something I will see in the future. Which means in the future, I can see you like that."
Richard said, rubbing his chin.
"Keep going with your lies."
"Look closely at the painting. The angle, the scene, it looks like a movie scene. I think you might play such a role in the future."
Richard analyzed.
"No way, I would never take on such an ugly role."
Charlize said firmly.
"That's your choice. I won't interfere."
"Hmph, liar. Goodbye. No, never see you again."
*Click* Charlize hung up the phone.
Richard shook his head. Why won't she believe me?
"Richard, we're ready to shoot."
The clapper loader came over to remind him.
"Got it."
Richard stood up and walked into the set.
Today's scene was being shot in a bedroom, the same bedroom where David Shaw and Emily had their affair.
After learning about their affair, Steven confronted David.
"I'm very jealous of you, you know that?"
Steven said, sitting on the bed, staring at the ring in his hand.
"Jealous of me?"
David, sitting opposite him, said in surprise.
"Yes, you should feel proud. Usually, I wouldn't be jealous of others because it's a pathetic emotion, like having cancer. And right now, I'm sick with that emotion. You know why, don't you?"
Steven stared at him and asked.
"No, I don't."
David shrugged.
"Of course, you know. It's the most thrilling experience in life, and not everyone gets to have it."
"What are you talking about?"
David asked, puzzled.
"Sleeping with my wife."
Steven emphasized.
David shook his head and laughed. "Mr. Taylor, I don't know."
"I think you should call me Steven at this point."
Steven said in a low voice.
"But we are truly in love."
David said.
"Is that all?"
Steven stood up, clenched his fists in anger. "You stole the most precious thing from a man's soul, and your explanation is so childish and ridiculous, like a greeting card's message. Even if what you say is true, it's not nearly enough."
"And if it is true?"
"She might love you truly, but you are just doing business."
"What are you talking about?"
David stood up abruptly.
"Cut!"
"Stop here!"
Director Davis took off his headphones. "Richard, you stood up too early. You need to hold it in, suppress it. Stand up only when it's time to explode. Don't let Michael lead you."
"Got it!"
Richard nodded, feeling the pressure.
Douglas was standing and speaking, constantly waving his fists, his aura getting stronger. Richard was sitting on a stool, looking up at him, feeling weaker. So he stood up early.
But standing up early disrupted the overall layout and clashed with the director's script design. The director didn't approve of his impromptu performance, so he had to sit and spar with Douglas.
"Richard, you're a boxer. You should know how to fight in the ring. Today's scene is a match between Steven and David. Steven is attacking, David is defending. You don't need to compete with me. Just sit there and take all my attacks, and you've won. Do you know why you've won?"
Douglas coughed a few times and asked.
"Why?"
"Haha, because you're playing David. David slept with Steven's wife. No matter how loud or strong Steven's voice is, in front of David, he's still a loser."
Richard's eyes lit up, sitting steadily, "Mr. Douglas, I think I understand."
"What do you understand?"
Michael Douglas asked.
"David slept with Emily, so he already won against Steven. Facing Steven, he should have a victor's smile."
"Haha, well said. Hope you perform better!"
After a few minutes' delay, the crew resumed filming.
In the following scene, Steven exposed David's identity. David grew up in a slum, started committing crimes at ten, was a pickpocket, car thief, male escort, and served time in state prison, where he learned to paint. He was wanted by the police for swindling a widow out of her money.
Under Steven's threat, David accepted the commission to kill Emily.
This scene had over a hundred lines of dialogue, with strict requirements on details and emotions. It took the crew two and a half days to finish shooting.
After this, the crew moved on to shoot the lead actors' scenes.
Steven, the lead, hired David to kill Emily. But David, who genuinely loved Emily, couldn't go through with it and hired a friend to do the job. Unfortunately, the friend botched it, and Emily killed him instead.
The murder attempt failed. Steven conspired with David again, but David used their recorded conversation to blackmail Steven, took a sum of money, and tried to flee. He was killed by Steven on the train.
Before boarding, David sent the recording to Emily, who then learned that Steven was the real villain.
When Steven returned home, he and Emily had a violent confrontation.
Steven tried to kill Emily, but she killed him in self-defense.
In the end, Steven died, and Emily inherited all his wealth, making it a perfect murder.
Richard played a major supporting role, with a few scattered scenes later. He traveled with the crew for half a month, shooting over thirty scenes intermittently. By the end of November, he completed all his scenes and returned to New York.
