บท 46: Beautiful carelessness

Jacquelyn helped Ballister sit on the couch, looking around for a pillow to help him rest his head.

Griselda, who was standing by the door, watched the girl with softness in her eyes. She had missed Jacquelyn so much, and she couldn't contain how grateful she was that the girl was alive. It came as a surprise to her that the Vampire King hadn't killed Jacquelyn yet, and she wanted to know why. But at the moment, Jacquelyn wasn't ready to look at her or talk to her, and Griselda knew why.

"Ballister, here, have some water," Jacquelyn said, pushing a cup of water to the boy's lips after making him rest on the pillow. But as soon as the water entered Ballister's mouth, he coughed it out again, his body now burning up.

Jacquelyn touched the boy's forehead. "What is happening?" She didn't turn to look at Griselda, but the woman replied.
