บท 34: Sleep with me

Kael had met many humans in the past centuries of his life. He even knew what people wanted to do before they made their move. Be it humans, witches, or vampires, he always knew what they wanted to do. He could guess their next actions just by looking at their faces. Yet, the girl standing before him, clad only in his grey shirt, left him utterly bewildered.

The soft candlelight glowed on her golden skin, making her look vulnerable. Nobody, no being had ever made him feel shocked, stunned, and surprised all at once. No being, until now. This very moment. The Vampire King tilted his head to the side to be sure he had heard the girl correctly.

Jacquelyn chewed her lips nervously, her body tensed with the unsettling silence, and her heart pounded against her chest. The princess raised her hand, wiping the sweat that had now formed on the side of her face. The girl was scared.
