As the night had fallen, the entire mansion had gone quiet. The roads echoed the loud buzzing of cicadas and the clucks of frogs. The evening lamps were turned on, and the lights were brightly lit in the house's basement.
Asahi wore his gray haori over his black shirt and was in normal black sweatpants as he precisely added just 0.2 ounces of the venom of a mamushi snake. Then he adds the datura's powder to form a concoction.
He transferred the poison to a little container and took a few steps away from the working table to let go of the breath that he had been holding onto for so long. He looked sideways. The tiny bottle contained the priceless poison, which took him half his life.
He had a glint of happiness on his face. It would be a fun experiment, he thought to himself as he left the room after washing his hands clean.

"Master! Master!" The house servant knocked on Asahi's door.
"Um, come in," he answered.
"The association masters have requested your presence in the mansion of North Star."
"I shall be there," Asahi replied, swiftly standing.
It had barely been a day, and they already had the next examination ready. Although the last match was easier, Asahi couldn't break a sweat as there were far more dangerous hurdles along his way to revenge.
While the servant bowed and left, Asahi went to his closet. He detested wearing full traditional clothing, especially because it restricted his movements; moreover, he wasn't like those old men. He was the new generation.
He took out his dark blue, which had a simple dragon crest on its back. Haori put on a white shirt under it and paired it with black pants. He carried his kiseru and left the house.
Along the way, he inhaled the smoke from the kiseru while clutching the device in his pockets.
The North Star Mansion was located in Kobe prefecture, and it took him about two hours to reach there. The car stopped before a house that was gigantic and had modern architecture. Ito Asahi stepped out of the vehicle, and a servant immediately pulled the door from the other side, as if they had been waiting for his presence all along.
He stepped inside the premises of the house. He was greeted by a group of servants who silently followed him while he viewed the zen garden. The path was made of gravel mimicking sand, and there were plenty of small ponds, a few pruned trees and bushes, and even a bamboo that fell on the rock each time it was filled with water droplets.
'Weird' he remarked in his mind, as such gardens should have been constructed at the porch. The garden was almost a rejection of the appearance of the mansion, stating that no matter how much Western influences take place first and foremost, they would never forget their traditions.
'I can sense the rat' He heard the voice of Kuro.
'Rat?'
'Yea, rat. He has a distinct smell compared to the rest. It seems like he will test you. Be sure to win.'
Kuro has a menacing tone. Even without seeing his appearance, Ito could tell the red mark on his forehead was probably glowing.
'You don't need to tell' Asahi simply brushed off the cat's words with a nonchalant face. Especially by a cat who was hibernating.
After a long walk, they reached the front door of the mansion. It was grand and lavish; the mahogany door had a large circular wooden art piece that had the carving of a mugwort leaf. He simply pressed on the wooden disk, and the door opened by itself, revealing a grand living room where all six members were seated.
Asahi placed his hand in his pocket, making sure to clutch the little device he had carried. The room was grandiose. There was a large chandelier on the second floor, reaching to the first floor. The floor was made of luxurious vinyl tiles. The couch was an amalgamation of brown and silver, and at the top sat the head of the association.
"Good afternoon" Just as Asahi was about to bow a greeting, he felt something enter through his sleeve, but since any movement would make him a disgraceful person, he made no move while the creature continued running inside his sleeve. It ran fast, and its sharp nails dug through his skin.
"Good afternoon, Ito." Mr. Kobayashi had a smirk on his face, while Asahi finally raised his head. His body was becoming futile and maimed, and although he wished to give a smug face to the old man, he swiftly got on his knees as they gave out.
His own body was out of his control. Whatever the creature was, its nails contained strong poison, as Asahi was mostly repellent to most poisons; after all, he experimented the most with himself.
His breathing became heavier, and his eyes started to redden. He was incapable of even raising his head yet; he gritted his teeth and firmly stayed still.
The unknown thing reached his other arm. Just as it was about to escape, Asahi perhaps used every drop of energy he could gather and hastily grabbed its body and, from his pocket, took out the pen-like object and stabbed its body, but instead of being paralyzed by the liquid, it wiggled its way to the floor, and only then did Asahi realize that it was a mouse.
All the masters of the association were taken aback by Asahi stabbing the mouse, as no one had ever done it before. Maruyama Kenji raised his voice.
"Master, we ought to expel the house, Ito. How could he stab?"
"Quite down, Kenji. Every action will cause a reaction, and that's what we are here to observe," said Mr. Kobayashi with a pleased expression while Asahi was about to fall unconscious.
Kenji wished to cause an uproar, especially since he believed that this kid needed some special lessons. He ground his teeth in anger.
The mouse from before transformed into a human; its pitch-black eyes glared towards Mr. Kobayashi and whispered something to his ears before returning to the Hidden Realm.
Just then, Asahi too was at his limit, and he fell to the floor, unconscious.
