│1st Person POV of Meliodas│
[Underworld Realm, Leviathan City, Iwaki's Japanese Food Corner…]
"Lightning Edge? What does it do?" I asked.
There was a book in our Library that had details of many Sacred Gears recorded in it, though not all of them.
Iwaki's Sacred Gear just so happens to be one of the many undocumented ones.
Iwaki answered me, without any hesitation, "My Sacred Gear lets me convert my Mana into Lightning as easily as breathing and freely control the Lightning to achieve various results.
"Like, shaping the Lightning in the form of arrows or spheres for lethal offense, shock my enemies to incapacitate them, form a static barrier around me that electrocutes anyone who comes in contact with me, etc.
"However, I always prefer to fight up close rather than from a distance as a mage typically should. So, my favorite spell is Lightning Boost, imbuing lightning into my body to increase my speed, strength, reflexes, etc.
"Now you can figure out how I alone can manage to cook for everyone even if the place becomes full, right?"
I nodded my head in response.
A lightning-based Sacred Gear. And going by Iwaki's explanation, a High-Tier one.
I never thought I would encounter my first Sacred Gear in such an unexpected way.
After regaining my memories, I had hoped that one of the Peerage members of my parents had some Sacred Gear.
However, my hopes were crushed as all of the former Humans in their Peerage were just some talented nobodies in the grand scheme of things.
Better than most Humans and also better than even some High-Class Devil with Clan Traits with just raw power and trash skill
But, they were not that special.
When I asked Mother and Father why they didn't reincarnate Humans with Sacred Gear, in private of course, they at first, looked at me with a weird look before explaining that coming across such Humans was nigh-impossible.
Every non-affiliated Sacred Gears they came across were already aware of the Supernatural and all the problems that come with joining a particular faction.
So, they declined my parents' invitation and my parents were not the ones to forcibly reincarnate others into Devils through trickery and other convoluted means.
That was just a dumb move as the possibility of such Reincarnated Devils going Stray was very high.
And the penalties one faces in such a case are not insignificant.
First, all of the Evil Pieces used to reincarnate the Stray Devils are lost until they are killed.
Second, although the King gets their Evil Pieces back once the Stray Devil is killed, the recalled pieces are unusable for a certain period ranging from more than a decade to a century, depending on the strength of the King.
Third, the King has to pay an exorbitant fine to the government for the trouble they cause by not having better control over their subordinates.
An interesting tidbit that Father shared with me is that all the fine goes to Ajuka's Technological Department.
Anyway, the reason I was eager to meet Sacred Gear wielders is that I wanted to perform some scans on them and collect some data.
Iwaki in front of me was the perfect candidate and the fact that he was a pure Human was an even better situation.
"Mr. Iwaki, will you make a deal with me?" I asked.
A look of intrigue crossed Iwaki's features as he gave me his full attention, "Go on, kid. Tell me the details."
"Can you show me your Lighting Boost first?"
Iwaki raised an eyebrow at my request before shrugging his shoulders, "Alright, but I will only show it once."
Upon receiving a nod from me, Iwaki backed away slightly.
A look of concentration appeared on his face for a second before suddenly, his hair spiked up and his black eyes gained a blue glow around his pupils.
Then, he started to move around the cooking area with incredible speed, the various obstacles and turns posing zero problems for him.
Watching him, I can see faster than Samara and Mother's Knight, Dorothy Hunter, who took two Knight Pieces to reincarnate.
Though I only ever watched them spar with each other, so they may not have been going all out.
A few seconds later, Iwaki stopped in front of us, the blue in his eyes was gone along with his hair falling flat on top of his head.
"Was that enough?" He asked with a smile.
I answered as I stood up from my seat, "Yes, it was."
Stepping away from the counter, I smiled at Iwaki. In the next moment, with a snap of my fingers a magic circle appeared in front of me before it sank into my body.
My hair spiked upward exactly as Iwaki's hair had done a few moments earlier.
I imagine my normally sky-blue eyes are now glowing with a brilliance akin to Gojo's Six Eyes.
I zipped around the large dining area, experiencing the boost provided by the spell.
'Hmmm… A 2.5 times boost to all physical parameters, huh? It will be a good spell to teach the ones I will mark in the future.'
I came to a stop in front of Samara, Iwaki, and Serafall, still a slight distance away from the counter.
Looking at them, I saw that Samara and Iwaki were watching me with their mouths wide open.
Even Serafall expressed her surprise for a split moment there before regaining her usual cheerful smile. If I hadn't been boosting my thought processing speed with Thought Acceleration, I would have missed it.
"It isn't over yet." I said before, suddenly, my body was wrapped in a layer of lightning.
I clenched my fists and felt that my physical attributes have increased even further, a 10 times boost I would say, though I may be wrong without properly testing this out.
There was no way to test it at the moment since Iwaki's restaurant would likely collapse from the aftershocks of my movements.
Additionally, I could feel a slight strain on my body. It was expected as my body wasn't used to experiencing such a large boost before this.
After all, enhancing my body with either Demonic Power or Chakra could never result in such a substantial increase.
"Well, according to my estimation, this is boosting my physical parameters by at least 10 times. Hmm… I will call this Lightning Armor."
I blatantly plagiarized the name, feeling no shame at all.
Beyond Genius Level Intellect or not, my naming sense hadn't increased one bit.
I think this is the one thing that no level of intelligence and wisdom will be able to solve.
Anyway, Samara and Iwaki's mouths snapped shut at my proclamation while Serafall hopped over to me.
Without any hesitation, she poked her right index finger at me.
The most surprising thing was that the defensive function of the Lightning Armor was not able to stop her finger for more than a second.
Just shows how much stronger she really is compared to the current me.
"Mmm… Its defensive capabilities are decent." She commented.
I canceled the spell with a snap, letting the lightning around me fade away a moment later.
Both of us returned to our seats and I said to Iwaki, "My purpose for doing all this was to show you a glimpse of my capabilities.
"Now, my deal. I want to perform some scans on you, in exchange, I will owe you a favor. You can ask for anything within a reasonable limit to me and I will deliver.
"What do you say, Mr. Iwaki?"
Iwaki didn't answer, he just looked at me with an intense gaze.
Serafall didn't interfere and even Samara was silently watching us, having no intention of stopping me even though she was likely thinking that I was giving way too much for little gain.
Making a Deal was a big thing for us Devils.
Unless I attempt to make a truly retarded deal, Samara wouldn't stop me. Any failure or unsatisfactory result would just be a learning experience to do better in the future.
Finally, Iwaki leaned back and answered, "Alright, I accept. And I will hold onto your favor."
"You must call in the favor within five years though. Deal?"
I extended my right hand for a handshake to seal the deal. Iwaki accepted it while declaring, "Deal!"
The next moment, Iwaki crossed the counter separating the dining area and the kitchen area before he stood in front of me.
He gestured to me, giving me the signal to start performing my scans.
I nodded before raising my right hand and snapping my fingers, summoning a golden-yellow magic circle. In response, a multitude of golden yellow magic circles of varying sizes surrounded Iwaki from all angles.
I activated Thought Acceleration, increasing my thought processing speed by 100 times to process the large amount of data my spells were feeding me.
This continued for a few minutes, with the magic circles around Iwaki vanishing one by one once they had gathered the necessary data.
When the final magic circle surrounding Iwaki disappeared, I snapped my fingers again to disperse the magic circle above my hand.
I don't need to snap my finger to trigger my magic circles, however, I feel cool by doing so.
I know that I will probably look into this moment in the future and cringe at my past self's actions. But, I am enjoying this now and that's all that matters.
On that note, my past self is an absolute fucker, leaving all his tasks to me. My future self is a savior though.
Anyway, we spent a few minutes in the restaurant with Serafall settling the bill, me asking Iwaki a few questions about the Human world, etc.
Then, Serafall summoned a teleportation circle beneath the three of us, teleporting us to the reception room of the Miracle Studio.
"Alright, Melio-tan. I think it's time for you to head home and I also have to go to make preparations for an important meeting."
Saying so, Serafall knelt down in front of me and kissed my cheeks. In response, I also did the same to her.
Then, she attempted to move away only to be stopped by me, "Wait, Sera-nee-chan. Please summon your magic circle."
"What's the matter, Melio-tan?" Serafall asked though she did follow through with my request.
Instead of verbally answering, I summoned my own golden-yellow magic circle before placing it on top of Serafall's blue-colored magic circle.
I saw Serafall's eyes widen slightly as she understood what I was doing.
I withdrew my hands once the process was complete and said, "There. Now you can also use the Lightning Armor spell in an efficient manner after a bit of tweaking."
"But, Melio-tan, you shouldn't have shared this with me so easily."
"Hehehe~!" I let out a small laugh at her words before explaining, "Silly silly Sera-nee-chan. When did I say this was for free?"
