"Please... of all people," Raena couldn't help but whine over what her uncle had said. 

She looked at Professor Ronan with a pouting face, and her uncle gave her a weird grin. What was he thinking? He knew it was already difficult for Raena to communicate with others due to them discriminating against her origin and the nature of her abilities, let alone be grouped with someone who was a friend group of the tyrant Lucius? Ugh. 

The library's towering shelves loomed over Raena and Jaun as they stood in a momentary silence. The previous events had left Raena feeling flustered, especially now that she was paired with Jaun, the tall, bespectacled boy who had always been a calming presence yet was surprisingly clumsy! The way he tripped earlier made her wonder if there was more to him than met the eye.
