Before my brother can respond, I hear the sound of a car approaching. At first, I think it's nothing, but then the rumbling of the engine grows louder, nearer. I turn my head, and there it is.

The prettiest car I've ever seen in my life.

It's gliding down the grassy hill, slow and deliberate, like something out of a movie. Wrapped in glossy red ribbons that crisscross over the hood, with colorful balloons tied to the door handles, the car gleams under the late afternoon sun.

For a second, I think I'm dreaming. My jaw drops, and I just stand there, frozen. My eyes dart between the car, my brother, and Rachel, trying to make sense of it all. I must look ridiculous, wide-eyed, with my mouth hanging open.

"Wait, what—?" I manage to mumble, but I'm not sure anyone hears me over the low hum of the engine.

Finally, the car comes to a stop right in front of us, perfectly centered, like it's been placed there by the universe itself. The door swings open.
