Sun Wukong had originally wanted to say a word in his defense, but before he could speak, he was interrupted by Xuanzang.

"I am a humble monk from the Great Tang, heading to the Western Heaven to worship the Buddha and seek scriptures. I intend to leave before dawn and hope you would be so kind as to accommodate us," Xuanzang said, repeating where he came from, hoping the old man would oblige.
