Maris, now fully recovered, was a different kind of threat—a sheer force of nature that could crush her if she let her guard down. The problem wasn't just their individual strength—it was how well they worked together.

For a brief moment, Nyx entertained the thought of continuing the fight, confident in her abilities to hold her own against them. But she wasn't foolish. Fighting both Lucan and Maris at full strength simultaneously left room for uncertainty. The possibility of losing was real, and Nyx hated uncertainty. Winning was the only thing that mattered, and right now, she wasn't one hundred percent sure of the outcome.

Better to retreat. Better to come back when she was even stronger.
