บท 116: 116

Newt Scamander and his family lived in seclusion on a hillside in Dorset, southern England.

Surrounded by green, soft grass, you could see the Muggle village in the distance from the doorway. Of course, the same spells as those used at Hogwarts were cast here. To a Muggle, the mountain looked like nothing but bare rocks.

Steven opened the door with familiarity, revealing a winding garden path.

A group of fairies, accompanied by butterflies, flew among the bowl-sized flowers, creating a dreamy scene.

There was a rustling sound among the grass blades, and a brown cat-like creature poked its head out. It stared at Wade warily, its big ears twitching slightly.

Then came the second cat-like creature, which was naturally clever and could detect people with bad intentions.

"Hi, Hoppy, Millie," Steven knelt down and said cheerfully. "Long time no see, did you miss me?"

When Hoppy saw him, it relaxed its guard, climbed onto Steven's body, and made a baby-like cooing sound.

Another cat-like creature approached Wade, reservedly sharpened its claws on his pants, and then climbed up his legs. Wade quickly picked it up.

"Millie likes you very much," Steven said happily. "They are Mr. Scamander's pets. There's another one named Molly who doesn't like to go out."

The two walked along the gravel path to the yard, where they saw Newt Scamander already at the foot of the steps, with a cat-like creature lying lazily at his feet.

Newt Scamander was ninety-five years old.

He was not young and shy like in the movies. Time had given him gray hair and less obvious wrinkles. But it didn't change some of his innocent and serious qualities.

His eyes were still clear, and he turned his body slightly sideways, as if unconsciously avoiding other people's eyes, seeming a little reserved.

Even though the two people in front of him were far inferior to Newt Scamander in terms of age, social status, or magical ability, he did not show any condescension.

Like a child who is afraid of harm and easily hurt by evil.

"Good morning, Steven," Newt looked at Wade cautiously and said, "Welcome, Mr. Wade Gray."

Wade bowed and said, "Please call me Wade. I have always admired you. I'm sorry for coming here so suddenly."

"No," Newt said softly. "I am very happy that there are outstanding young wizards who are willing to learn about these things."

A boy with brown curly hair came out from behind Newt and looked at Wade with a bright smile. "Hi! I heard that the Friend Book was your invention?"

"Be polite, Rolf," Newt said gently.

Obviously, he was not a majestic grandfather in his grandson's mind. Rolf made a face and held out his hand.

"Hello, I'm Rolf - Rolf Scamander."

The boy grinned and said, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Wade Gray, the inventor of the Friend Book."

"Hello." Wade also shook hands with him.

"Do you want to visit my grandfather's animal sanctuary? Come with me, I will be your guide!"

Rolf pulled Wade forward enthusiastically, and Newt and Steven followed behind with smiles.

"I heard that you went to the United States before?" Steven asked.

"Yes, to meet an old friend." Newt sighed and said, "About seventy years ago, I sent it to the United States. I didn't expect that now, I would have to send it away from this world again."

When Steven heard this, he knew that the old friend he was talking about was a Thunderbird, and said in surprise, "I remember that the lifespan of Thunderbirds should be very long?"

"In order to protect its children, it was too seriously injured and did not wait for treatment," Newt said sadly. "You know, they can summon lightning and storms, so they are often targeted by poachers."

Steven said angrily, "Damn poachers! I have always dreamed of seeing the Thunderbird with my own eyes, and how dare they hurt it!"

"Then your dream can come true today," Newt forced a smile. "After Frank died, its child lost its shelter. To protect it, I brought it back."

Rolf didn't pay any attention to what his grandfather was saying to Steven. He excitedly said to Wade, "The Friend Book is such an amazing invention! Everyone in our family has one. My grandmother has the most—she has three!"

"I have one too! One with my grandfather, one with my grandmother, one with my father and one with my mother, and one with my uncle... Chatting on paper is more interesting than face to face!"

"There's just one thing! The information is stored for too short a time! Sometimes I wake up after an afternoon nap and miss my mother's message. As a result, she complains—ah, I have to enter from here!"

He put a brown suitcase on the ground and opened it, then got in first, turning back and waving to Wade when only his upper body was outside.

Then the whole figure disappeared as if it had been eaten by the box.

Wade had seen this scene in a movie in his previous life, smiled upon seeing it, and then followed him in.

The entrance to the suitcase was narrow, but the space inside was magically expanded, like a small world in your pocket.

Going down the stairs, there was a small house like a utility room. There were many things in it, many of which seemed to be old, and Wade didn't have time to take a closer look.

"Come on!"

Rolf shouted in front and opened the wooden door in the room that didn't look very solid.

"Ka—"

The wooden door joint made a hoarse groan, and the cool water vapor and the smell of animals came over.

A vast world suddenly appeared in front of him with an impactful posture.

Wade couldn't help holding his breath, and his heart was beating like a drum.

Experiencing all this in person and being in this magical space created by magic was completely different from the feeling of seeing the picture on the movie screen.

For a moment, he felt his breath taken away.

Magic... What a wonderful power...

Rolf had been playing here since he was a child, and he was long accustomed to it, unable to understand Wade's shock. Seeing him standing there, he pulled his arm to the side.

"Come this way, I'll take you to see the new residents here!"

The two didn't walk far before a golden desert appeared in front of them, and there were several huge stone pillars in the center.

In the depression of the stone pillar, a baby bird with three pairs of wings and a slender tail lay. It fell asleep with its eyes closed, its feathers swaying gently in the breeze.

Rolf made a gesture to silence it, tiptoed over with Wade, and then motioned for him to gently extend his finger like he did.
