บท 4: Chapter 4: So I Hate The Dark
(Yumi POV)
Me, Gon and Killua sit down and chat for a bit longer as everyone who hadn't passed out catches up. Well, I guess not that one guy I think his number was 305. Yeah, the doors closed before he got to make it through but that sucks on his part.
Satotz starts to warn everybody again about how the animals may deceive you when that fake exam proctor shows up and tries to confuse the crowd.
'Wait this is when the idiotic clown acts cool and imposing when trying to determine the real examenor. Like hell I'm going to let that happen! You hurt Gon so I'll make sure you get no screen time!'
Now before the man can pull out the fake monster while everyone is still confused I pull out a weapon from my pocket that at my touch starts to unfold as I run toward the fake proctor.
Before anyone knows what's happening I've decapitated the head of the fake beast with my scythe and landed behind the beast before the head touched the floor.
Everyone was stunned as they saw me turn around blood dripping off my blade.
(Okay quick authored break I just wanna explain what Yumis scythe looks like because she put a lot of effort into designing it! So it's reminiscent of Kite's scythe but just with the type and proportion to the body. It has a magenta colour scheme with a skull at the end of its hilt. She wanted it to look like a feminine grim reaper. Anyway moving on!)
As I turn back to the stunned crowd posting my blade as majestically as possible I'm secretly impressed.
'Wow, my body almost moved on my own after I told it what I wanted to do. Even now it feels like this position has been ingrained in my memory after countless years of training. The god is truly the best! Like when I asked for mastery over the scythe I didn't expect this!'
"As you can see this was a fake. If this creature was the real proctor he wouldn't have been weak enough to be injured that badly by a lowly beast when they are supposed to be hunters. And two he wouldn't have been able to be killed by me so easily even if I'm strong in my own right." I then smile but this time I let it be creepy.
"I suggest all those who lost faith in our wonderful proctor should be careful when it comes to the rest of the exam."
'Especially you Leorio! Everyone else can die if they want to. Especially that ninja. Maybe I should kill him myself as I don't have to be all sneaky about it during the exam. Hm, who knows.'
I then press a button that folds back up my scythe and walk back to where I was standing with the rest of the main four while everyone was now occupied by the vultures devouring the body of the beast I had just killed. Of course, I was watching too as even if I've felt this experience many times before it's still super fun to feel it again.
"Thank you number 14," Satotz says while walking through the crowd regaining their attention.
"That creature was trying to confuse the applicants and even lure some of you away. These attempts are to be expected."
"We can't let our guard down" Killua comments which Gon agrees to. "Of course not I wouldn't want to feel any of you dying," I say sincerely which confuses the group and even raises some suspicion but Satotz started speaking again so they put a pin in it.
"Please be aware that you will encounter such deceptions regularly." He then stops to observe the beast getting eaten before turning around to face the crowd.
"As applicant 14 already stated many might've already been suspecting my identity. I hope you now understand. I want to make it abundantly clear that if any of you were to lose sight of me once we enter to fog of the Noisey Wetlands you have no hope whatsoever of reaching the second phase of the exam."
"You've been warned, now let's begin, please follow me."

(General POV)
"Hey guys?" Yumi starts asking Gon and Killua. "Is this the fastest you can go?" she says smiling cheekily. "If we run to the front I can even introduce you to Satotz, we talked a bunch during the first half and know each other well!"
Killua was going to agree before picking up on how Hisoka was about to get jumped and wondered if Yumi sensed that too.
"Of course, we can go faster!" Killua says accepting the challenge.
"It's also important we don't lose sight of him, so you're on!" Gon replies fired up he then turns back and shouts.
"Hey, Leorio! Kurapika! Yumi challenged me and Killua to a race!"
"Hey calm down! Don't you know the tension in the air!" Killua nags.
Yumi smiles. "It's fine, don't you think it'd be more interesting if they started something?"
Killua nods. "But we might lose sight of the proctor if that happens"
"You idiot!" Leorio soon interrupts making Yumi melt at his tsundere nature.
"If I could run to the front I'd already be there!"
"Go ahead we'll meet you there" Kurapika adds more politely.
"Awww" Gon says disappointed.
"Come on!" Killua urges. "The last one there is a rotten egg!"
"Wait! That's not fair!" Gon yells.
"Don't worry Killua I still love you after that!" Yumi says a bit louder than she intended but thankfully nobody heard her or at least addressed what she said.
-----------(Time Skip ?hours)-----------------
"I wonder what's happening I can hear screams all around us" Gon questions as they continue their jog.
"I can feel the anguish as well. It is different types of suffering for each group of people. Too bad I can't see it up close and feel what's happening." Yumi says a bit sad.
"But what they might be facing is exactly what we must be careful of," Killua says before finally addressing Yumi's odd comments.
"You keep on talking about feeling stuff, what do you even mean?"
"Oh," Yumi says stiffening slightly as she doesn't really try to hide it but this question has still driven many people she cared about away.
"You see I have a unique type of Mirror-touch synesthesia. If you've ever heard of it, it usually means that I can feel a sensation of touch that I see on another person on the opposite side of my own body. But in my case, it also has components of Hyper-empathy syndrome as I not only feel the physical pain much clearer than others with my condition but I also can feel their emotions in the moment which are usually only negative emotions. Another way I'm special is that I can even feel pain from fictional characters like from books or live-action films as long as I envision it as real enough my body responds. I've lived with it my whole life so I've gotten better at regulating my condition and dulling how in tune with my surroundings but it doesn't make it go away. And at some points, it acts up."
'And other points I want to feel the suffering and drink up the pain like a vampire.'
"Wow, that's co-" Gon starts before they get swallowed up by a frog.
(Yumis POV)
'It's dark, it's f*cling pitch black in here. F*ck I hate the dark. When can I get out of this place? Like now, please, sh*t. F*ck, F*ck, F*ck I can't even slice my way out with my scythe because of Gon and Killua!.'
Okay, I was having a panic attack. I just f*cking hate the dark okay? It's stupid but I do. So now my killing intent was going kinda haywire and before I realized it my kitchen knife was already in my hand repeatedly stabbing the oversized plastic frog. Again and again and again I stabbed that frog whispering curses upon its ancestors before it finally vomited us up.
I kinda come back to my senses that I have my knife in my hand that is currently covered in the frog's blood so I wipe it on my pants and put it into my right pocket calming myself down.
"Finally that's stupid frog let us out"
"Yeah, I guess it was your stabbing as well as this" Killua says bringing out the soda from Tonpa.
'You're joking, right? Why didn't I remember that you fricken psychopath! Whatever,'
"I guess you two saved us then," Gon says with his usual light-hearted tone.
"Well if I just kept on stabbing we would've gotten out anyway," I say trying to convince myself more than others that I hadn't overreacted.
"Now I'm even more worried about Leorio and Kurapika" Gon says seriously.
Now that's a subject I can get on board with you know getting rid of these nasty panicky feelings.
"I am as well, even if I haven't known them for long they are strong but who knows what lies in the forest? They'll make it but my worry is at what cost."
'Yeah like if I f*cked up the plot and now I can't show up and save them at the right time. Wow, I guess I'm still spooked from the sudden darkness that I'm so out of wack.'
"You guys need to forget about them," Killua says slightly irritated. "We'll still be able to catch up if we just start now."
I started following Killua but I stayed back as I felt Gon stopping.
"Is it Leorio and Kurapika" I whisper and he slowly nods.
"Then lead the way."

A slightly shorter chapter today guys! I hope you guys are liking it so far! Here's a little interaction as I loved how the author of Changing Destiny did there's.
Seekeroflight: Hey why do you like Satotz of all people?
Yumi: Oh simple he wasn't a b*tch to Gon and honestly wanted to help him even if it was only because of his clown of a father. Talking about clowns how am I going to string Hisoka's neck seeker?
Seekeroflight: .... Well I haven't thought about th-
Yumi: Don't breathe, don't move, don't speak, and don't even try to think of writing me away
Seekeroflight: *nods*
Yumi: You better let me string that stupid clown's neck!
Seekeroflight: I'll try I'm just horrible and writing fight scenes
Yumi: Zip, zip zip. You will.
Seekeroflight: It looks like I'm writing a horrible fight scene next chapter.
