บท 33: Chapter 31 - Kitchen worktop (R-18)
When the heart receipt message appeared in front of my eyes, Asia was still in my arms.
I was confused for a second, just a second really, because I soon realized that Asia wasn't really angry with me. It was something else that bothered her and made her pull away.
So even after the message popped up for me, I didn't let go of Asia's hug. I felt her warmth as I held her.
"Please don't think I meant any disrespect." My mouth was very close to one of her ears, so I almost whispered.
I felt her breathing start to stabilize, and her fingers lightly touched my arms, which were still wrapped around her.
"I know, Leo. It's not your fault. I was... caught up in the moment, too. But..."
She slowly turned around in my arms to face me. Her eyes glistened with tears in the corners, and there was a mixture of confusion and uncertainty in them.
"But what?"
"But... I'm confused," she admitted. "Part of me feels guilty about this. I don't think I should..."
I frowned. "Guilty? But why should you be?"
Asia looked away, staring at a spot on the kitchen floor. "Because of Rias."
This revelation surprised me. I hadn't expected her to mention Rias in this context.
"Rias? What does she have to do with this?"
Asia let out a heavy sigh and turned back to me. "I see the way you look at her, the way you worry about her. And... I don't want to intrude. I don't want to seem like I'm trying to... steal you away from her. You knew each other before you and I met."
I was silent for a moment, trying to organize my thoughts. The situation was more complicated than I had thought. On the one hand, I had feelings for Rias. She was important to me, a strong, magnetic presence who had been with me throughout my adolescence and whom I literally knew like the back of my hand. On the other hand, the same was true for Asia. She was sweet, caring, and had a special place in my heart as well, and I didn't want to leave her out or neglect her.
"Yes, I respect Rias very much. But that doesn't mean that you and I can't be close. I'm... not dating Rias. She's amazing, but I respect her like a servant respects his master."
"Really?"
I nodded, keeping my eyes on hers. "Yes. Asia, you're important to me. I want you to know that. I don't want you to feel like you're doing something wrong by feeling a little desire for me."
She didn't say anything for a moment, just stared at me with those big, expressive eyes. Then, slowly, a shy smile formed on her lips.
"You're... really serious, aren't you?"
"Yes. And... I really enjoyed our kiss. It was special for me. Every time I wake up with you by my side, it's special."
Asia blushed intensely, and the smile on her face grew. "I liked it too, Leo. I really enjoyed it. It was so... Kyah!" She put her hands to her face to hide her embarrassment.
I looked at Asia, who was still covering her face with her hands, and I couldn't help but feel a wave of tenderness for her. Not wanting to get hard again seeing her so cute, I let her go.

Loving words were something Asia Argento, an orphan raised in a church environment, had never heard. Love was different from the kindness of the nuns she had as colleagues.
"Leo, I want to try again."
I stopped and looked at her. "Try what, exactly?" I asked, practically teasing her.
She clasped her hands together, closed her eyes and called out boldly:
"I want to try to kiss you again! This time without guilt..."
My heart warmed when I heard those words. The sincerity in her eyes, the vulnerability in her voice, everything about her. Asia attracted me in so many ways. I turned and approached her.
"If we're going to do this, let me do it my way this time."
"I promise I won't stop you no matter what you do." She said with a sweet smile at the corner of her mouth.
"It's a promise. You can't go back on it."
So I grabbed her by the waist and sat her down on the kitchen counter. It was the only way we could be the same height.
Asia didn't back down, even after my boldest move. She wrapped both arms around my neck and pulled me close to her.
This time I didn't have to ask her if she was sure. It was natural. Our lips touched first, and then our tongues began to intertwine. As we kissed, I felt more confident to try a little harder.
