บท 18: Debut
"It's time for the gift ceremony," the MC announced, drawing everyone's attention. "Ms. Yennefer, please come here."
The MC extended his hand and guided Yennefer to the center of the room. As she moved gracefully, the guests began to prepare their gifts, each wanting to make a lasting impression on the birthday girl.
First to step forward were her parents. They greeted her warmly and handed her a beautifully wrapped box. "This is a surprise. Open it later, okay?" they both said, smiling.
Next was Dianne Santos, holding a beautifully crafted necklace. "Happy birthday, Yennefer. This necklace has an automatic protective barrier. I hope it keeps you safe."
"Thank you, Dianne. It's lovely," Yennefer replied, her cold exterior softening slightly.
Atreus Blaze approached next, his cool and confident demeanor now softened. "Yennefer," he said, handing over a green rock. "This rock was found after killing an ascendant fire monster. As long as you pour your mana into it, the fire will never go out." His face reddened slightly as he spoke.
Kai laughed secretly to himself. 'Look at that, the cold young master of the Blaze guild,' he thought. He knew that Atreus had a crush on Yennefer. Sadly, Yennefer only focused on her potion-making and never really cared about anyone except her family and close friends.
This caused a slight commotion in the crowd; even the renowned guests were shocked. This type of rock cost 20 billion dollars.
Yennefer nodded, taking the rock. "Thank you, Atreus. This will be very useful."
Amelia Blaze was next, offering a beautifully bound book. "Happy birthday, Yennefer. This book contains ancient alchemical recipes, some of which are long forgotten."
Yennefer's eyes lit up with genuine interest. "Thank you, Amelia. This is truly a treasure."
Symon Nuballs sauntered up next, a smug smile on his face. "Yennefer," he said, holding out a crystal. "This is the crystal from the ANACONDA, WHOSE RANK IS HIGHER THAN ME, that I killed BY MYSELF."
"This kid," one of the teachers of the academy muttered while sighing.
Yennefer took the crystal, her expression unreadable. "Thank you."
Next, Alice Stein stepped forward, her blonde hair gleaming under the chandeliers. She held out a sleek, silver amulet. "Happy birthday, Yennefer. This amulet enhances one's magical focus and clarity."
Yennefer smiled softly, taking the amulet. "Thank you, Alice."
Suddenly, a beautiful young lady, dressed in a beautifully stitched blue dress, came running in, slightly out of breath. "I'm sorry, Yennefer, I'm late," she said, panting. "Oh, this is my gift." She handed over a rare medicine, causing a small scene.
"Thank you, Alora. This will help me with my new research," Yennefer said appreciatively.
Alora Starlit, daughter of the second strongest person in the human domain. Her mother is the owner of one of the most influential organizations in the human domain. If the Octagram is first, then her organization, the Luminous Peak Academy, is second.
After Alora, many other young guests presented their gifts, each trying to outdo the last. The procession took about ten minutes, filled with a variety of enchanted items, rare books, and precious artifacts.
Next, it was time for the adults to present their gifts. Edwin Santos was the first to step up. He handed Yennefer a small, elegantly wrapped box. "Yennefer, this is a rare artifact from our collection. It enhances one's total focus."
Yennefer accepted the gift with a polite smile. "Thank you, Mr. Santos. I appreciate it."
Elara followed, offering a beautifully crafted potion bottle. "Happy birthday, Yennefer. This potion will help you easily break through in the future."
"Thank you, Ms. Elara," Yennefer said, taking the potion with gratitude.
Elara then said, "Come, Kai, Hanabi."
Everyone in the crowd looked at them, shocked by their stunning appearance. They were also curious about who they were, but the most shocking was among the adults who sensed Kai's aura. Even Symon didn't recognize his face because he looked like a young master now, whereas before he looked like a homeless person.
"This aura, a high-tier warrior," one of the teachers present from the academy remarked.
Kai stepped forward confidently, holding a small box. "Happy birthday, Yennefer," he said, presenting the box to her.
Yennefer's eyes widened slightly, and she gave Kai a small, genuine smile. "Thank you, Kai. This is wonderful."
The crowd buzzed with whispers, clearly impressed by the quality and thoughtfulness of Kai's gift. Hanabi stood beside him, beaming with pride for her brother.
Next, various business partners, guild leaders, and politicians presented their gifts, each one adding to the impressive collection of treasures Yennefer had received. The atmosphere was filled with admiration and respect as each person tried to make their gift stand out.
As the ceremony drew to a close, the MC stepped forward once more. "Thank you, everyone, for your generous gifts. Let us continue the celebration!"
The crowd dispersed, and the party resumed its lively atmosphere. Music filled the air, and the guests mingled, discussing the impressive array of gifts.
"It's time for dinner," the MC announced, and the guests began to make their way to the grand dining area.
Yennefer and her friends, including Dianne and Alora, sat together at a beautifully decorated table. The table was set with fine china, crystal glasses, and an array of delectable dishes that filled the air with mouth-watering aromas.
As they settled in, Dianne glanced around the room and noticed Alice sitting alone at a nearby table. "Alice! Come join us," she called out, waving her over.
Alice hesitated for a moment, then stood up and walked over to their table. Yennefer looked up and smiled warmly. "Alice, we're friends. Why are you always alone?" she asked, her tone gentle.
Alice lowered her head. "Uhm..."
Yennefer patted the empty seat beside her. "Come on, sit with us."
Alice nodded and took the seat, her presence adding to the lively atmosphere at the table.
While they were talking, Atreus approached the table and took a seat next to Yennefer, his demeanor more relaxed. "Mind if I join you?" he asked, his eyes locking with Yennefer's.
Yennefer smiled at him. "Of course, Atreus. You're always welcome."
The conversation continued, filled with light-hearted banter and shared memories. Atreus, who was usually reserved, found himself boasting about his achievements to Yennefer.
Kai watched from a distance, keeping a protective eye on Hanabi, who was enjoying her meal and chatting with some of the other children.
"Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves," Kai thought.
Back at Yennefer's table, Alora turned to Alice. "Did you prepare your things for the academy?" she asked, genuinely curious.
Alice took a sip of her drink before answering softly. "Yes."
Dianne smiled encouragingly. "You should come out with us more often, Alice. We miss you."
Alice nodded shyly. "I'll try."
As dinner progressed, the conversations flowed easily, and the group grew more comfortable with each other. Yennefer, surrounded by her friends and feeling the warmth of their companionship, couldn't help but smile.
Atreus leaned in closer to Yennefer. "This party is amazing," he said softly. "You look stunning tonight."
Yennefer smiled. "Thank you. I'm glad you could come."
Back at Kai's table, Elara looked over at Hanabi, who was happily eating her food. "Are you enjoying your meal, Hanabi?" she asked kindly.
Hanabi nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! It's so delicious!"
