บท 15: Chapter 15: What is Air Superiority?
Though Yuhara found it fascinating how fate had led him to encounter Raiga in such a manner, he never forgot the most crucial aspect of being a ninja: getting the job done. Ambushes were a fundamental tactic for ninjas. Yuhara had no interest in exchanging words and posturing before a fight. If he did talk, it was only to distract his opponent before launching a surprise attack, a tactic he had perfected.
However, Yuhara's approach didn't always work, especially against seasoned warriors like Raiga. The sharp sound of metal clashing rang out as Raiga swiftly drew his ninja sword, parrying Yuhara's kunai with remarkable speed. Raiga immediately counterattacked, wielding his dual swords with such agility that they whistled through the air. Yuhara found himself on the defensive, realizing Raiga was more formidable than he had anticipated. His swordsmanship was exceptional, and his speed was astonishing. Moreover, Raiga avoided making eye contact, preventing Yuhara from using genjutsu.
Despite being pressured, Yuhara could evade Raiga's attacks relatively easily with his Sharingan. He also noticed flaws in Raiga's attack rhythm, making his fierce strikes less effective. Recognizing the situation, Raiga sought to create distance, allowing him to use other jutsus, particularly the Hidden Mist Technique, which countered the Sharingan.
As expected, Raiga took advantage of a clash to create distance. He wore a serious expression but spoke with derision, "Think you can take my life? I may be a rogue ninja, but I'm not someone you can easily handle!"
"Indeed, your swordsmanship is impressive, Raiga," Yuhara said, smiling. "But whether I'm qualified to take your life will be decided by this battle. As a rogue ninja, didn't you foresee this day?"
"I knew this day would come, but I didn't expect a Leaf ninja," Raiga retorted with a laugh. He started forming hand seals. "I don't know where your teammate is, but it's just you and me now, and you're an Uchiha. Didn't your elders warn you to be cautious against Mist ninjas?"
As he spoke, Raiga completed his jutsu, and chakra surged around him, quickly enveloping the area in mist. The Hidden Mist Technique hindered the Sharingan, and Raiga had no hesitation in using it.
"I admit, the Hidden Mist Technique does impede the Sharingan, especially with such a large chakra infusion," Yuhara said calmly, a smile playing on his lips, which unsettled Raiga. Without giving Raiga a chance to react, Yuhara released a significant amount of chakra and began to float.
"How large is your mist's range?" Yuhara asked as he ascended. Hovering above, he looked down on the increasingly worried Raiga.
The mist's range depended on the chakra investment, but a ninja wouldn't usually gamble all their chakra unless absolutely necessary. Raiga, a seasoned warrior, wouldn't deplete his chakra reserves recklessly. Now, he was in a predicament, not having anticipated Yuhara's ability to fly.
"A flying jutsu? This is troublesome," Raiga muttered. He didn't dispel the mist immediately, intending to gauge Yuhara's flight duration and altitude. However, Yuhara didn't plan to give him that opportunity. Mid-air, Yuhara quickly formed hand seals, his chakra surging and heating the surrounding air.
"Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!"
A massive dragon of fire erupted from Yuhara's mouth, spiraling in the air before diving toward the ground. Raiga swiftly dodged, increasing the mist's density to obscure himself. He realized that if he didn't, Yuhara would continue targeting him from above with impunity.
The roaring fire dragon crashed into the ground, causing a tremendous explosion that lit the white mist with an orange glow. Though Raiga managed to avoid the flames, he felt the intense heat. The fire dragon's power was considerable.
"Damn Uchiha! Using flight and fire jutsu like this?" Raiga cursed inwardly, peering through the mist at Yuhara. To his dismay, he saw Yuhara gathering chakra and forming hand seals again.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!"
Small fireballs scattered from Yuhara's mouth like seeds, spreading out and targeting the mist-covered area. Controlled by chakra, the fireballs blanketed the entire range of the Hidden Mist Technique. Before mastering the Flight Technique, Yuhara used fire jutsus tactically. Now, with aerial advantage, he could unleash devastating carpet bombings.
As a transmigrant, Yuhara understood the significance of air superiority.
