On the next day of school, they showed up together and were instantly informed that the principal wanted to talk to them. He demanded the essay from her, which Paige had naturally not written.
The principal wanted to admonish her, but seeing her having lost so much weight through her sickness, he was somewhat appeased. He just reminded her to apologize to Natasha after the morning lessons.
Every Monday, their school praised the students who scored especially high or did something that deserved merit.
Fighting students would have to apologize before the school.
Every time Paige should apologize in public, she was "sick," and the principal let it slide. Now she had to, even if she did not want to, or he would kick Paige out of the school.
"Yes, I will be there." She nodded obediently. The system did not micromanage her, which meant she could decide whether to apologize or not.
She wanted nothing more than to apologize to the female lead. Not only for bullying her but also because of Paige's involvement with the male lead. The male lead had a somewhat strange picture of Natasha, and he didn't seem to really like her.
In part one, the male and female leads were at least a step before friendship. Now, Paige saw Lance disgusted with her and not finding her 'remotely attractive'. That was a headache. Since when was the male lead not attracted to the female lead? He was a bit disappointed that Paige slimmed down, so he liked big breasts. Should she fatten up the female lead? Was this bullying if she bought her chocolate each day?
Many questions without any answers.
[No fattening up the female lead.] The system said suddenly.
Lance, beside her, commented.
"It's not just her breasts; she is somewhat fake. I wouldn't say I like the tons of makeup on her face. And the not-realistic nice persona. Dunno, I don't like it."
They were already going to class from the principal's office.
"Did I talk out loud?" She asked, startled, with a bit of hair still standing up from her head.
"Yeah, but that's okay; at least I always know what you think." Yesterday, she gave him money, and today, she went to school without needing to be dragged, so Lance was a lot gentler.
He put his hand on her head to smooth out her hair.
She grimaced. "Hands off." She was so old, she couldn't let a little boy touch her hair.
"Force me!" He cheekily said.
Paige just kicked his shin and walked unperturbed to the class.
"Whyyy" He whined behind her while she smiled. He should be like this, a whiny sixteen-year-old. She had to get it together and give her all this time. She would not let him down.
Juno and Natasha, naturally, for a school romance storyline, saw Paige and Lance exchange. Natasha was surprised while feeling crestfallen.
Juno seethed but still tried to calm her best friend. "Don't worry. I will write to my friend. But they don't seem like friends or lovers, right? They seem more like relatives, right?"
"You think they are related by blood?" Natasha was hopeful at once, then said sadly
"But they got to know each other on the first day of school. I was there at that time."
"I was there too, and that was really fake, right? And if I remember right, he even gave her his jacket unwillingly- as if he was responsible for her, like an older brother?" Juno paused and thought a bit more.
"Ah, right! You told me that he was charming initially, and when she slapped you, he was suddenly cold to you. Wasn't that because he liked you at first but could not be against his family later? And… and… and…. What did Paige say again before slapping you?"
"I think she said, 'He is mine.'" Natasha nodded, half believing her.
"Yes! Is that not like a jealous little sister?" Juno asked.
Natasha waited for it for two seconds.
"Right?" Juno followed up.
"Right!" Natasha giggled, being hyped up again.
When they arrived at class, the bell had just rung. Natasha walked to Lance and sat down beside him.
"Welcome back!" She grinned beautifully.
"Thank you," Lance answered in a neutral tone. He did not know how to talk to her. He did not like her, but Paige was right. What did Natasha do wrong?
He hated to play with her feelings, but Lance had no other way.
Furthermore, what would change if he first was mean to her only to be nice again only to fulfill the self-given "Enemy to lovers tag"?
Because of this, he settled on a neutral way of talking with her.
"I'm sorry for being mean. I was out of it that day." That was part of him being neutral, too.
To every other person, he had apologized to. Or he had broken off the contact because he didn't like to be fake with people. But he had to marry her anyway, so having contact with her was a must.
Natasha's eyes sparkled. She felt now that Juno was right about everything!
"No problem! Sorry to come to you for comfort when we are not close. But I want to be friends with you."
Well, she was not as unsympathetic as he imagined. He felt a bit better. He could do this.
"Okay, let's be friends." Lance smiled, but felt that what he did and would do was not right in any way..
Meanwhile, there was only iciness on Paige's desk. Pigtail just gave her the cold shoulder. She would have never even noticed this if Pigtail had not occupied only one-third of her desk, trying to be as far away from Paige as she could.
Paige took in this situation and placed her books boldly on the two-thirds of Pigtail's desk.
'If she is not using it, I'm gonna.'
Pigtail looked at her accusingly but did not speak out, making Paige feel that she did the right thing. Satisfied, she lowered her head to sleep.
