บท 206: His Only Family

Evelyn sat in the car, cold and blank, as Elias stepped out. Her hand that had held onto Elias was in mid-air, trembling just like her heart, which had just taken a major blow. Her mind was a whirlwind of emotions, thoughts racing faster than she could process. She felt a crushing weight of helplessness and betrayal, but also a deep void formed in her heart. 

Elias walked toward the other side, every step feeling heavy and painful. This would probably be the last time he would ever see her, which hurt even more. At least, he should have spoken a little more and expressed his gratitude more sincerely so she would hate him less. At least, he should have hugged her one last time. The thought of leaving her behind, of never seeing her again, was almost unbearable.

"What are you doing?" Zevian grumbled at his stupid brother-in-law. When Elias didn't listen and continued walking toward them, he shouted, "Get back into the car, Elias!"
