บท 89: Instant Crush

The balcony door opened, and chaos ensued. A wave of fire swept the room, engulfing Misha, who stumbled in, her purple hair smoking and skirt ablaze. Ru sprang to his feet, his heart racing. He grabbed the nearest pitcher and rushed to her aid, pouring it over her flaming clothes.

"Are you okay?" Ru asked, his voice filled with concern.

Misha wobbled to her feet, her crooked grin a stark contrast to the smoldering remains of her skirt. "I think I might have caught on fire a little," she replied, her voice a mix of embarrassment and amusement.

"Want to lean on me?" Ru offered, but Misha held up a hand to stop him.

"If you want me to be okay, give me a little dust, actor," she winked.

"Stage dust?" Ru teased, smirking.

Misha shoved him hard and suddenly burst into vibrant purple flames. As panic gripped Ru, unsure of what to do, he couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the hypnotic dance of the flames enveloping her. The warmth from the fire played against his skin, and he felt his spirit almost slip into the rhythm of the blazing spectacle.

As the flames around Misha finally extinguished, she emerged entirely renewed, glowing as if she were a different being altogether. With a quick motion, she gathered her hair into a ponytail, using a simple elastic band from her wrist.

Misha struck a pose, her arms outstretched and her hands clasped together in a heart shape. She lifted one leg behind her, her body forming a graceful arc. A burst of sparkling light emanated from her palms, illuminating her surroundings. With a smile and a twinkle in her eye, she exclaimed, "Just one of my many powers!"

Ru was lost in the moment and still stood there, wide-eyed and completely enchanted by the display. The song of the flames was still echoing in his mind, captivating him.

Misha said, putting her hands on her hips and acting offended, "So you were charmed that easily?" When Ru didn't respond, she grabbed his hand and led him to the bed, snapping her fingers in front of his face to break the spell.

"If you don’t snap out of it, Lulu, I’m gonna eat you alive."

Ru blinked and suddenly came out of his daze. His blood ran cold at her words. "Wait, what? What's going on?"

"What’s going on is you asked me to find a contract. So I found one. Here," Misha said, handing him a scroll of parchment.

Ru took the scroll, unrolled it, and glanced over its contents. After a moment, he raised an eyebrow, looking back at Misha.

"Interesting."

"What's interesting?" Misha asked, her voice lilting.

"You stuck to your word," Ru said.

Misha sat beside him, her smile softening. "What’s so surprising about that?"

"I cheated and got punished. That means I lost my right to make a wish," Ru explained, his tone shifting into one of quiet reflection.

"You did the real trick by getting punished. That djinn sultan needed a contract, after all," Misha chuckled.

"Oh, you got me," Ru said, standing and pacing toward the table.

"Would you have preferred being caught by Amunet, my wildflower?"

"Thank you for helping me get past her," Ru replied, settling at the table.

"You weren't disqualified from your wish," Misha said, curling a pillow into her lap. "I made a wish on your behalf."

"For me or the djinn?" Ru asked, just as he picked up the pen.

"For the djinn."

"What did you wish for?"

"Exactly what the djinn wanted," Misha grinned.

"And what exactly did he want? I had to leave before I could hear that part," Ru asked, curious.

"The prosperity of planet Arinna," Misha said, barely holding back her laughter.

"Don't joke around," Ru muttered, twirling the pen over the dotted line.

"Joking is my job," Misha replied, suddenly appearing behind him, her hands resting lightly on his shoulders. "So, what are you going to wish for?"

"That's a secret," Ru said, his voice turning serious again.

Misha leaned in, her breath warm against his cheek, and teased, "Should I go, my level one boss?"

Ru guessed, "You're going to ask for my heart."

"No," Misha whispered, running her nail softly along his cheek, just enough to leave a faint scratch.

Ru tried to hide his nervousness by joking, "You're going to ruin my charm and stop me from becoming popular on the show with a single scratch?"

Misha ogled at the sparkly dust on the end of her nail and whispered into his ear, “I'll be hungrily waiting for you to survive and become what you are, Lulu.”

"Oh my goodness, you are planning to eat me, aren't you?" Ru shuddered, pulling away in fear.

Misha sucked on her finger, nodding with a playful glint in her eyes, "Yep."

Ru said with a hint of humor, "Maybe I should wish to become the Demon King?"

"You wouldn't want to ruffle Faceless," Misha warned, walking backward with her usual flirtatious sway.

"Who’s that? Or rather, what?" Ru asked with a shudder.

"Seneca's father. Thanks to you, he's back on his throne," Misha said, her tone more serious than her earlier teasing.

Ru turned towards her without getting up from the chair. "And you... what's your role here?" Are you kind of hell princess? Or a succubus?"

"Succubus? Oh, no, no. I don’t have horns," Misha laughed, heading for the balcony door. "I’ll be off now. You are too much!"

"Sorry, my dear gluttonous foe," Ru said sarcastically, gesturing toward the regular door. "Use the normal exit. Don’t burn up."

"I don’t burn. I burn others," Misha shot back, throwing herself through the balcony door.

Ru ran after her, but all he saw was a burst of purple flame. He stood there momently, stunned until the doomsday sun heat dried his lungs and forced him to go inside.

"Well, that was weird," he thought, returning to the table and picking up the pen again. Without hesitation, he signed the contract. He tapped the pen against the paper, lost in thought as he considered what to write on the wish line.

He thought about all his wishes: immortality, endless wealth, ultimate power, a new planet, ruler of the galaxy, becoming god, most loved, only loved, the most famous, mega-talented, adored. But he stopped himself. He needed to find something unexpected that would throw Almighty Ru off balance, even if it meant putting himself in a tricky situation.

"I’ll get you out of prison, but I won’t let you leave as yourself. Just like you changed me, you’ll be changed. So, because of that..."

Suddenly, he scribbled down his wish, rolled the parchment back up, and sealed it. Quietly, he slipped out of the room and tiptoed down the hall, slipping into another chamber.

A sudden sound made his heart race.

'Shrak!'

The silk fan snapped open, revealing venomous, slanted eyes behind it.

"Heise!"

Ru frantically looked around for the door handle, but there was none. The door had vanished.

"I set the rules of the game. And it seems you're the one breaking them," Heise said, stepping forward, his fan lowered. "Now, hand over the second contract."

"But..." Ru began, wearing a dumb grin. "I worked so hard to get that djinn into the game because you wanted him and—"

"Oh yes, I know," Heise smirked. "Demon’s threesome!"

"What?"

"You, the djinn, and Misha. The three of you playing tiny but oh-so-dangerous games, and you’re wearing me out."

"How do you even know?"

"The witch told me."

"No way. The witch is totally on our side."

"Ah, foursome then."

Ru gulped, laughing nervously. Heise held out his hand.

"Give me the contract."

Ru hid the scroll behind his back. "What are you going to do with it?"

"You can’t enter the game with the djinn’s contract."

"I don’t trust you, Heise. Not one bit."

Heise teased, "Is it because I saw that porn short film of yours?"

Ru protested, backing away with the scroll behind still, and asked, "Who ratted me out?" He stumbled into something soft and turned around. They were in a cube-shaped room, and all the walls were padded, like clouds made of cotton.

Instead of answering, Heise gave him an allusively look.

"Where are we?" Ru asked, trying to distract Heise, while subtly preparing for an attack.

"Just hand it over!" Heise lunged at him.

Ru ducked, rolling out of reach. In his hand was not only the scroll but also Heise’s sword.

"Game over," Ru said, pointing to the sword.

"Finish me then," Heise taunted with a smug grin.

Ru raised the sword to strike, but a hand gripped his wrist. He was shocked to see the owner of the white hand.

"You... why?"
