9.35% A Forced Marriage to a Wealthy Billionaire in Town / Chapter 13: Her Past Relation

บท 13: Her Past Relation

"Wild of you to think that I have ever been in a relationship." She muttered under her breath.

"What did you say? Are you scared to say it out loud? You aren't a coward, are you?" He wanted to force things out of her mouth, and that was the only way he could have provoked her.

"Woah! I guess you just want me to say what I don't want. Stuff like that doesn't work on me anymore." She fired back, and then he smirked. She felt that there was no good reason for him to know that she had never been in a relationship.

He could even get to use that against her, and she didn't want something like that either. After some minutes of driving, Joshua got to his parents' house.

Claire noticed that they had already arrived at their destination. She saw how wonderful the place was, and she was in love with it. She gasped upon seeing the place once more. It was a very large mansion, and there was a fountain in the compound.

They were welcomed by maids and also entered the huge mansion. She was from a rich family, but his was definitely wealthier than hers.

"Just follow me." That was what Joshua told her, and she did what she was told. She followed him right into the house. She looked at the time and saw that they were a little bit late.

He held onto her wrist, and she was shocked that he had done something like that. She tried to fight it, and she then remembered that she was supposed to act with him so they could convince his grandfather.

He arrived in the dining room, and his family was already sitting on the chair. His grandfather was the first to notice that he was holding her hand. He was pleased that both of them were getting along. He couldn't wait to share such wonderful information with his friend, Claire's grandfather.

Claire greeted everyone who was sitting right at the table and sat right on an empty seat. "You are welcome, darling." Joshua's grandfather replied to her. "How are you doing, my dear daughter-in-law?" Joshua's father questioned her, and he smiled.

He wasn't against the two of them; he just wanted the best for his son. He loved his son fiercely and would do anything to improve their relationship.

"Yeah, you two were five minutes late. Do you know how disrespectful that is? We sacrificed our time to be here for you two, but you decided to delay us." Vivian, who was Joshua's stepmother, interrupted their joyful moment.

Claire was already getting scared of her. "She is worse than any other evil stop mother I have read about." She thought.

"Yeah! I'm sorry we are a little bit late. That will not happen again." He apologised without even saying anything. Claire was stunned by his actions. She never expected that he could apologize. She didn't see him as someone who could do such a thing.

"You could be this calm?" Claire murmured, but he heard what she said and shot her.

"I heard your two marriages were sudden ones! Grandfather, are you sure the two are getting along? "What if she came into the picture and took everything that belonged to us?" Joshua's stepsister, Alex, stepped into the picture.

"Watch what you say. You don't get to talk about my wife like that. I can take anything from you, but don't bring her into those miserable thoughts of yours." Joshua reacted, as everyone who was sitting right on the table was surprised by the way he had reacted.

Claire, who was sitting right next to him, was also stunned by his behavior. She thought it was real for a second before she remembered that everything was just acting. "It felt so real; he should just go into Nollywood." She thought to herself.

His grandfather, who was sitting with them, was impressed by his performance. Everything was going their way. "I was just saying..." You know there are a lot of ladies out there, and they are just after their man's money." Alex tried to defend herself.

"You are just defining yourself. Not everyone is like you." Joshua informed her.

"You two should stop the argument. For the first time, there is a visitor here. We came here to eat, not to be in some little petty fight." Their grandfather cut in.

Claire was more interested in their fight than anything else. She wanted to see both of them in more arguments later in the future. She wanted to see the person who was way better with his words than both of them.

She looked around, and she didn't notice any signs of her stepbrother. She had remembered that his maid talked about him having a younger brother. The maids came in with the food they were going to eat that night.

Throughout that night, Joshua acted lovey-dovey towards her, even though they were just acting. No one would have imagined the bite I'd then be taking with the way they were acting.

It was time for both of them to go back home. It looked like it was going to rain, so they needed to go home early.

"Can't you stay here for the night?" His grandfather asked them. Immediately, they announced that they would be going back to their house.

"You don't have to worry about that. We need some things to do at home. We are going to get back to you later." Joshua told him, and then they both walked out of the house after greeting the whole family "goodnight."

"Do your palms usually get that sweaty? It is irritating." Joshua let go of Claire's hand. After they reached where their car was,.

"Are you okay at all? How could you say such things?" Claire retorted immediately, and they got back into the car. Joshua ignited the car's engine and then drove off out of the compound without saying a word to her.

บท 14: Waiting For Husband

"You know how nervous I was, right? I mean, it's not easy to be in a family where you are not even loved." Claire shouted out in anger. It was already raining, and Joshua was deeply affected by what Claire had just told him.
He knew that she was telling the truth.
"I mean! Oh! My husband's family doesn't like him. How are they going to act towards me? Would they like me? Would they consider the fact that we didn't even get along well? Those words were ringing right in my head repeatedly." She shouted right at him, while he just kept on driving.
"Do you think your mother would be proud of you if you kept on acting this way towards a girl for no reason?" When he heard her calling his mother's name, Joshua immediately pulled up his car.
He wasn't expecting someone to just call his mother's name so casually. "What did you just say?" He looked at her. Claire knew that she had woken up the demon in him already.
She was scared to see him react that way. She spoke out of anger.
"Get out of my car! Right now!" He shouted right at her.
"It's raining. You don't expect me to stand in the rain? Do you?" She questioned him.
"I don't care! Just fucking get out of my car!" He cussed, hitting his steering wheel.
Claire came out of his car while she was still in awe. "Are you going to leave me here for real? I'm so sorry! I said the wrong thing, and I hope you can let me back in." Her hand was right on the car.

Joshua, who was blinded by anger, didn't bother to react to the stunt she was pulling. He drove off like it was nothing, which made Claire fall to the floor.

"Was he drunk? How could he do something like that?" She complained. She was feeling pain since she had twisted her ankles already. "Ah no!" She cussed while she tried to stand up and noticed how it was really painful.

The street was pretty silent, and there was no one right on the street. She was a little bit scared, while she just stood in the same position, hoping that he was going to come back to look for her.

She stood in the rain for hours, tears falling right from her eyes. "Why was he so heartless? Why did he have to be this way?" She had never stood in the rain for too long. She knew she was going to get a cold immediately.

She then saw a car approaching from afar. She didn't know if she was going to be happy or not. She stood up, thinking that it was Joshua who had come to get her.

She kept waving her hand till the cat got to her side, and then she pulled up. She then realised that it was not him. "What are you doing in the rain?" The stranger, who was right in the car, questioned her. She stuttered, not knowing what she was trying to explain to him.

"I'm waiting for my husband." She managed to say, but the stranger chuckled at hearing what she did.

"Why don't you get a car, and I will drive you to the nearest hotel?" He offered her a ride. She was hesitating, but not until reality hit her again that Joshua wasn't going to come back to pick her up.

She entered the car quickly.

"I'm so sorry you, dear, will get wet because of me." She apologised to the stranger who picked her up. She could feel that he had made the car warmer.

"Thank you very much. I needed it." She was shivering so badly, and she could feel her head getting so hot. She felt the pain right in her head.

She started sneezing, too. "How long have you spent in the rain? Would you like to go to the hospital instead?" The stranger who carried her noticed that she was not okay, and she had been sneezing badly.

"No! I don't want to be seen by people or anything." She cut in. She knew that the media knew about the cat that she got married to. She was scared that someone might see her.

"Should I take you to my apartment, then? I'm just back in the city, and I got to realise a drive to the hotel from here is going to take a few hours." He questioned her, and she shrugged her shoulders.

"I'm totally fine with it..." She couldn't complete her statement before she sneezed so hard again. Her eyelids were getting so heavy due to stress and everything.

Joshua got home and realised what he had done wrong. He knew he was going to be in trouble once his family got to know what he had done. He rubbed his head against his forehead when he saw that she was not picking up the call.

"Pick up your damn phone!" He hit his car after he realised she was not picking up. He knew the kind of phone that she was using and how it could get to work inside water.

"Sir? What about Miss?" Ann, who was right outside the car, questioned him. He didn't know what kind of excuse to bring it up.

"You must keep your grandfather from knowing this, or you will lose your job again." He threatened her and entered his car, driving back to where she had left.

"Oh no! Why did I do that? I shouldn't have done this!" He was already regretting his actions. He realised what his anger had made him do, and he wanted to correct himself badly. He looked around, hoping to see any security cameras that might have captured where he had been.

He called one of his friends, who could help him in that situation. A close friend could help him see what happened through a security camera.
