บท 10: Vegeta’s Shock: Khans Unmatched Strength
"Raditz, since your little brother is so stubborn, it's up to you to deal with him," Vegeta, who had been silent for a long time, finally spoke up.
Raditz nodded, glanced at Goku, and said coldly, "Kakarot, you chose this path, so don't blame me for what happens next."
With that, Raditz hurled Goku into the air. A beam of deadly energy began to form on his fingertips. Although Goku was his brother, Raditz felt little to no affection for him. If Goku had been reasonable, Raditz would have welcomed him into their team. But since Goku was so defiant, Raditz saw no issue in eliminating him.
"Goku!" Krillin, lying on the ground, cried out, his eyes wide with fear.
"You bastard!" Yamcha gritted his teeth. Piccolo, Tien Shinhan, and Chiaotzu were already dead. Were they really going to be wiped out?
Yamcha struggled to stand and stop Raditz, but he was too weak. In contrast to Krillin and Yamcha's despair, Vegeta and Nappa watched with sneers. To Vegeta, those who were useless did not deserve to live.
Even though Goku was a Saiyan, his refusal to join them meant he had to die.
In the next instant, Raditz's energy beam shot towards Goku's heart.
"Goku!" Krillin and Yamcha screamed in unison, their eyes wide with horror. They watched helplessly as their friend, who had defeated so many of their enemies, seemed destined for a tragic end.
"Kakarot, goodbye," Raditz muttered, smirking as the energy beam shot forward. However, just before it struck Goku, a black shadow flashed across the sky. Goku vanished, causing Raditz's beam to miss.
"What?!" Raditz was startled.
Vegeta and Nappa also frowned. They scanned the area and finally saw a tall, imposing figure standing behind Raditz, holding Goku. The newcomer gently placed Goku on the ground.
Krillin and Yamcha, who had been on the brink of despair, felt a surge of hope. The newcomer was Goku's older brother, Kahn!
Kahn gently laid Goku on the ground and took out a senzu bean, feeding it to him. Though Goku was gravely injured, he managed to eat the bean. Almost instantly, his injuries healed.
"Brother Kahn…" Goku spoke.
Kahn handed him a small cloth bag. "There are more senzu beans here. Give them to Krillin and the others. Leave the rest to me."
"Okay, Brother Kahn, be careful. They're incredibly strong!"
Vegeta and Nappa were stunned. Seeing Goku, who had been on the verge of death, fully recovered, they were speechless.
"What kind of trickery is this? He's all healed now?" they wondered.
Raditz, turning to see the newcomer, went pale with fear. The memory of being overpowered by Kahn was still fresh in his mind.
"K-Kahn, it's you!" Raditz stammered, his eyes filled with dread. Despite Vegeta and Nappa's presence, Raditz felt no courage in facing Kahn alone. He quickly retreated to Vegeta's side, seeking safety.
"Is he Kahn?" Vegeta asked, frowning slightly as he observed him.
"Yes!" Raditz responded, sweating profusely.
"He doesn't look that strong," Nappa remarked casually. However if he had a a battle scouter, he wouldn't have said that.
Ignoring Vegeta and Nappa, Kahn addressed Raditz, "Raditz, it seems you didn't kill Frieza and have come back empty-handed. What's shall I do with you now?"
"Kahn, you don't understand your situation," Raditz said confidently with Vegeta beside him. "Do you see Vegeta here? He's the Saiyan prince, a genius fighter. To him, your power is insignificant. Kneel and apologize, and maybe I'll ask Vegeta to spare you."
Vegeta smirked, pleased with Raditz's flattery.
"So, you didn't kill Frieza, and you came back?" Kahn asked, unfazed by his threats. "It seems you know you can't hide, so you came to die."
"Hey, don't you see Vegeta and me here? Stop being so arrogant, the way I see it is that you're tired of living," Nappa growled. "Since you're so eager, let me help you out."
Nappa's sturdy body rushed at Kahn with incredible speed. His massive fist, larger than Kahn's head, aimed to strike him with terrifying force.
Boom!
As Nappa's fist approached, it generated powerful sonic booms.
"Brother Kahn, move out of the way now!" Goku shouted in panic. He knew Nappa's strength firsthand. While Kahn was strong, resisting Nappa's blow seemed nigh impossible.
"Relax," Kahn replied with a casual smile. Just before Nappa's fist could land, Kahn raised his right hand slightly and stopped his punch.
The next moment, Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha's eyes widened in disbelief. Nappa's pupils contracted as he gasped in shock.
"How is this possible?!"
Facing Nappa's powerful punch, Kahn effortlessly blocked it, his body remaining perfectly still.
"This is all you've got? Have you even been training? So weak." Kahn's eyelids lifted slightly, his tone flat and face emotionless, but the mocking edge in his words was unmistakable.
"How dare you underestimate me!" Nappa's forehead veins bulged, his rage intensifying. He was Vegeta's right-hand man, a formidable Saiyan warrior. And Kahn? Despite being a fellow Saiyan, Kahn was just a Saiyan raised on a low-level planet like Earth. The idea of being looked down upon by Kahn made Nappa's anger boil over. He raised his left hand high, forming a fist, and brought it down with force.
"I'll crush you!"
Shlick!
Nappa's furious roar echoed, followed by the sickening sound of a knife plunging into flesh. The world fell silent, as if time had stopped. Nappa, who had just been boasting about killing Kahn, froze. His left fist hovered in the air, unable to move. He stared at Kahn, his eyes losing their luster. He never imagined he'd meet his end at the hands of someone he so deeply despised.
Kahn withdrew his blade from Nappa's neck, disdain evident in his voice. "All that noise for this? I thought you were stronger. Turns out, you're just trash."
Thump!
Nappa's body collapsed like a felled tree. Even in death, his eyes remained open, filled with disbelief.
"One… one move!" Witnessing Kahn kill Nappa with a single strike made Krillin's scalp tingled as he gasped. Moments ago, all six of them had attacked together but failed to inflict any real damage on Nappa. Instead, Piccolo, Tien Shinhan, and Chiaotzu had all fallen to Nappa. The foe they thought nearly invincible was now dead at Kahn's hands.
"Gulp!" Yamcha swallowed hard, shock evident in his voice. "Kahn is incredibly strong! This is an enemy we couldn't defeat even when fighting together!"
Krillin and Yamcha were in disbelief. If they hadn't seen it, they wouldn't have believed it. Nappa, whom they couldn't defeat, was killed by Kahn in a single move.
"Kahn must have trained intensely these days," Son Goku marveled. "One year ago, he was just a bit weaker than me. Now, he's far ahead. I have to train harder, or I'll never catch up."
"Nappa…" Looking at Nappa's lifeless body, Raditz's fear of Kahn deepened. Based on his knowledge, Kahn's combat power was 5300. Nappa's was 4000, still formidable. However it was impossible for Kahn to kill him instantly… unless Kahn had grown even stronger in the past year.
"Hmph, what a waste," Vegeta remarked calmly. Despite fighting alongside Nappa since childhood, he felt no compassion for his death, only contempt.
"Vegeta, no…" Raditz sensed something was terribly wrong.
"Raditz, you worry too much." Vegeta dismissed Raditz's concerns, confident that Kahn's ability to kill Nappa was no surprise. If Kahn couldn't do it, he wasn't worthy of fighting Vegeta.
Stepping forward, Vegeta addressed Kahn. "You're Raditz's younger brother, Kahn. You did well just now. If you join us, I'll welcome you as my right-hand man. If you refuse, I'll be forced to kill you myself."
Kahn shook his head with a smile. "Do you realize how absurd that sounds? Like a mouse threatening a lion."
"Is that so?" Vegeta was amused. He thought he was bold, but Kahn was even bolder. It was clear Kahn wouldn't join him. In that case…
Vegeta extended his left thumb, pointing at himself arrogantly. "I am Prince Vegeta, the Saiyan elite. You're just a low-level saiyan warrior. How dare you speak like that to me? I'll show you my true power!"
With those words, Vegeta assumed a fighting stance. Kahn didn't respond, merely beckoning Vegeta with a finger, the provocation clear. Enraged, Vegeta's murderous intent flared.
"You'll regret underestimating me!" Vegeta shouted, launching an attack with ferocious speed.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Vegeta's punches and kicks rained down on Kahn like a storm, cutting off any retreat. However, Kahn didn't dodge, letting Vegeta's attacks land.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Vegeta's relentless assault continued, but Kahn remained unfazed. The muffled sounds of impacts filled the air, smoke and dust rising.
After a flurry of attacks, Vegeta stepped back, a smug smile on his face. "What an idiot, taking all my attacks."
"So what?" Kahn's voice emerged from the smoke, calm and steady.
"What?!" Vegeta was stunned. His attack, though not at full strength, should have been enough to injure any opponent. Yet, Kahn stood there, unscathed, not even a single scratch.
"Impossible! No one can take my attacks without a scratch!"
Vegeta pressed the combat power detector button on his left eye, scanning Kahn's power level. As the numbers changed, Vegeta's expression shifted from confusion to shock in mere seconds.
"50,000… 60,000…!"
"100,000!"
"This can't be happening! It's impossible!!"
As the numbers on the scouter surged past 100,000, it beeped wildly, struggling to keep up with Kahn's incredible power. His energy was beyond anything the device could measure.
Beep! Beep! Boom!
The scouter exploded, unable to handle Kahn's overwhelming power level. Vegeta stood there, stunned and in disbelief.
"How could a low-class Saiyan warrior possess a power level in the hundreds of thousands?"
The proud Saiyan prince, Vegeta, couldn't comprehend it. His own power level was a formidable 18,000, yet here was Kahn, a low-class warrior, displaying a power level that dwarfed his own. It defied all logic.
"There must've be a malfunction! This can't be real!" Vegeta's voice quivered as he tried to make sense of the situation.
But no matter how he rationalized it, the reality was clear. Kahn's power was undeniable, shattering Vegeta's understanding of the Saiyan hierarchy. The prince, once confident in his superiority, now faced a new and unsettling truth.
