Hotel
Emily felt hot all over, and she could not remember how she had got back to the hotel. In her dim consciousness it seemed as if some one was calling her name in her ear, and then she felt something cold and metallic against her breast, and then a stranger was talking to Klaus beside her.
She awoke briefly and went back to sleep, her consciousness always in a state of blur. Sometimes she would dream that she was walking alone in a deserted place, but such dreams soon ended, and were replaced by blank slates.
It was as if she had fallen into an illusory space where she could find no direction until a voice rang in her ears.
"Emily,Emily."
She stood in the void, searching vacantly for the source of the sound, but there was nothing around her but a white expanse, and yet the sound lingered in her ears.
