The door had barely clicked shut when Kai felt the atmosphere shift in the room.
It was subtle at first.
A lingering and loud silence that hung between him and Akira.
He tried to ignore it, pushing down the awkwardness creeping in now that Hina had left him alone with her.
He moved towards the couch and plopped down, trying to keep his mind occupied.
Akira, on the other hand, stood by the kitchen counter, her sharp eyes studying him, a faint smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
"You seem a little tense," Akira said, breaking the silence with her teasing voice. "Is there something wrong, Kai?" She asked.
Kai froze mid-reach for his phone.
He forced a smile, trying to play it cool.
"No, just… thinking about the mission. You know, Sabushi and all that… I don't know if I'll ever be ready to this kind of life… everything is so… scary." He said, while looking down on the floor.
Akira chuckled softly, her eyes gleaming with amusement.
"You're a terrible liar, Kai." She strolled over to the couch, her movements slow and deliberate, like a panther eyeing its prey.
Kai shifted uncomfortably, already sensing where this might be going.
She sat down next to him, much closer than he'd expected.
He could feel the heat of her body next to him with her chest pressing against his.
And this thing made him stiffen.
He wasn't sure if it was the weight of the upcoming mission or the fact that he was alone with Akira, Hina's dangerous yet alluring sister, that was making him more nervous.
Judging from Kai's reaction , it seemed like he was attracted to types like Akira.
In fact, she was similiar to Hina.
"So," Akira started, crossing her legs and resting her arm casually along the back of the couch, brushing just slightly against him. "You and Hina… for how long have you been together?" She asked with a low voice, locking his eyes into his.
Kai blinked, thrown off by the sudden change in conversation. "Uh, yeah… for a while now."
Her gaze sharpened, a mischievous smirk forming on her lips.
"Oh really? And how are things going between you two?" Her voice lowered just a touch, adding a playful edge to her words. "I mean… how close are you?"
Kai's heart skipped a beat.
He knew where this conversation was going and desperately wished he didn't.
His mouth felt dry as he scrambled for an answer, trying to remain calm.
"W-what do you mean?" he stammered, knowing full well what she meant but hoping to sidestep it.
Akira chuckled again, this time a bit louder, clearly enjoying his discomfort.
"Oh, come on, don't be shy. You clearly know what I'm talking about." She leaned in closer, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Have you two… you know… gotten intimate yet?"
She really asked it.
Kai's face turned a shade of crimson he didn't think was possible.
He was utterly unprepared for this kind of interrogation.
"I-I mean, well, that's… personal," he managed to say, doing his best to hold onto some dignity.
Akira's grin widened, her sharp eyes never leaving his.
She had her answer
She then leaned back, clearly entertained by his flustered reaction.
"You're so cute when you get all flustered, Kai." She laughed softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "But really, you can tell me. I won't judge. Hina can be… intense, after all. Has she made the first move yet?"
Kai rubbed the back of his neck, trying to think of a way to steer this conversation away from its current trajectory.
"Look, I… I don't think we should be talking about this," he said, his voice strained but firm.
Akira shrugged casually. "Relax, I'm just teasing. And there's nothing wrong about talking about these things despite a lot of people see this topic like a taboo."
Akira then caressed Kai's left leg.
Her touch was so delicate and soft in contrast to her appearance, and Kai felt it.
He felt a shiver down his spine and didn't reply.
For some reason, he couldn't reject Akira, probably because he knew that he couldn't do anything to counter her.
She was way stronger. In everything.
"So… did it feel good…? Who took the lead?" Akira asked, while still caressing his leg.
She clearly wanted to know the details.
"That's… not something I can say." Kai replied with a direct but also embarassed tone of voice , while avoiding to look into her eyes.
She then winked at him, clearly enjoying the game she was playing and his "adorable" reaction.
She then spoke with a more relaxed tone of voice , to calm the situation.
"Akira, please. Hina would kill us both if she sees us." Kai said, still looking away from her.
"You don't have to worry… I wouldn't dream of getting in the way between you and my dear sister. I mean…" She paused, her voice dropping just enough to make his skin tingle. "But I must say that she's a lucky girl, having you all to herself." Akira said with a lustful tone, while licking her lower lip.
Kai swallowed hard, not sure how to respond.
Every time he thought he had his composure under control, Akira would throw him off balance with another teasing comment or that playful smirk of hers.
It was like a cat toying with a mouse.
"Please sto-" Kai tried to speak.
"Anyway," Akira interrupted him, sitting back and stretching her arms over her head, which only accentuated her toned figure.
"I've always had a thing for younger guys." She glanced at him, her eyes half-lidded, a playful smirk still dancing on her lips.
"But don't worry, you're safe from me. I wouldn't cross that line, no matter how tempting it might be." She said, with a friendly smile on her face.
Kai felt like he was burning up. "Y-yeah… thanks for that," he muttered, trying to shift the conversation in a safer direction. "So, about the mission…"
But Akira wasn't done having her fun. "Come on, Kai," she said, her tone light and teasing again. "You don't have to be so stiff. You're a good-looking guy, and Hina's my sister. I just want to make sure you're… keeping her happy, that's all."
Kai cleared his throat, trying to will the blush away from his face. "I'm… doing my best."
Akira let out a soft laugh, clearly amused by his efforts to remain calm. "I bet you are."
For a moment, they sat in silence, the tension in the room shifting into something more playful, though Kai still felt like he was on edge.
Akira had this way of making him feel both flustered and strangely comfortable, all at once.
It was confusing, to say the least.
She stood up suddenly, stretching again.
"Alright, I'll stop teasing. You've had enough for one day." She gave him a wink as she started walking toward the kitchen. "But if you ever want advice about girls, feel free to ask. I'm an expert."
Kai let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding, grateful the teasing had finally come to an end. "Thanks… I guess."
As Akira busied herself in the kitchen, Kai leaned back on the couch, trying to relax, but his mind kept drifting back to her words.
He couldn't deny that Akira was attractive, and her teasing, while embarrassing, had gotten to him more than he wanted to admit.
But more than that, it had made him realize just how serious he was about Hina.
No matter how much Akira teased him, there was no question in his mind who his heart belonged to.
Still, the afternoon was far from over, and with Akira around, he knew it was going to be anything but dull.
"This guy… has something special… deep inside… a dark thing… that has attracted both me and Hina… he's probably even worse than her… and more than that… he surely is… big… judging from Hina's moans and words that night… Ah… It's becoming difficult to control my feelings…" That's what Akira thought while being in the other room, while a tingly feeling was starting to envelope her.
She hadn't been feeling these things since a lot of time, and it seemed like everything had returned just in time.
