"What?" Amelia asked, stunned by Isaac's sudden question. "I… I don't know, maybe a month or so ago. Why?"

"Is it usually consistent?" Isaac continued. "And how long is every cycle?"

"Mine is," she replied. "Maybe around twenty-eight days. Wait…" She squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head. "Why are you asking me this?"

"Is there a chance you might be…" Isaac trailed off, but there wasn't a need for him to finish his sentence. Amelia might've just woken up, but she wasn't daft.

"You can't possibly think that I'm…" she said, the last word hitching in her throat.

"Pregnant?" Isaac supplied. "Yeah, I think there's a chance you might be."

"No," Amelia said, almost laughing at how ludicrous this was. "That's not possible. We always―" She stopped short.
