It took a few hours of chatting before Artie began to feel like herself again. Her anger was gone, her sadness was gone, and whatever had awoken in her before had settled down again. Everyone around her had noticed as well, and the mood in the room had shifted into something more comfortable. The tension had left and it actually felt like a group having dinner in a private setting instead of a forced meal alone.

It was nice for Artie to be around everyone, including her handmaids, discussing something that felt silly, like rumours. It eased her mind, and thanks to that, she was calm enough that her mind didn't just to the worst when there was a knock at the door.
