[You have been challenged to a duel by RememberMe Lv. 78!]
A notification popped up in front of Broken, indicating that the warrior was challenging him to a duel.
"You fool!" RememberMe taunted, standing defiantly before him. "Don't tell me you're a coward who runs from a challenge. Do you think you're pretty tough, wandering around alone without any party members? Well, now's your chance to prove your strength."
"Level 78?" Broken muttered under his breath. He wasn't intimidated by the man in front of him. After all, this was just a duel, and there wouldn't be any penalties like when a player kills another player.
He was confident he could win despite his opponent's level. He had Polly, who was incredibly reliable in battle and higher level than him. He also possessed several skills that could be used in combos, dealing significant damage when executed perfectly.
But he wasn't interested in dueling. He didn't want to entertain those toxic players, he wouldn't gain anything from it.
"What a waste of time," he said, passing the man and continuing to walk away.
In Immortal Legacy, players can engage in a mini-game called dueling. This is available to everyone and allows players to fight against each other without the risk of death. This rule applies to all participants, whether they are individual players, parties, or guilds. After the duel, the losers do not suffer any consequences such as losing experience or levels. Additionally, before the fight begins, both parties can make bets if they both agree. These bets can include coins, weapons, or any other items that are mutually decided upon.
RememberMe continued to follow Broken as he strode away, growing irritated at being ignored.
"Accept my challenge to a duel, you fool!" he shouted. "It's pure foolishness to venture into the forest alone, isn't it? You won't survive a minute in there - there's a pack of level 80 monsters waiting."
Broken was taken aback by the man's words. "A level 80 monster?" he murmured. He hadn't expected the monsters in the area to be so high-level.
Monsters in this region used to range between levels 20 and 50, but perhaps the average level of players had increased, causing the monsters' levels to rise as well. Facing a few level 80 monsters might not be an issue for him, but encountering a large group would certainly be problematic.

The mage girl spoke up. "Hey, RememberMe, let him go. You should find a more worthy opponent, you know…"
The archer girl added, "His level can't be that high."
"But he's heading to an area with level 80 monsters. I just want to remind him how foolish he is."
Broken was becoming increasingly frustrated as the man kept pushing him to a duel. He stopped and faced the warrior, his voice stern as he asked, "Do you have anything that can make this duel more interesting for me?"
"What? Do you think you can dodge my challenge by being condescending? Is there something you'd be willing to risk to balance the bet? What do you have? Your clothes look so worn. Do you have any coins? Ha ha ha... You should be thankful I'm offering you this duel, so you can get a glimpse of how a high-level fighter fights." RememberMe replied, his voice dripping with arrogance.
Broken felt compelled to teach the warrior a lesson, especially since the two female players in the warrior's party did not seem to support his behavior. Broken even felt a strong urge to kill the warrior. However, he knew it was best to avoid getting involved in player killing at the moment, given that his level wasn't high enough and he didn't have the necessary equipment to defend himself effectively.
Playing it safe was the best strategy for survival and progression at this point.
Player killing was primarily favored by those wanting to snatch resources from other players. However, the more they killed, the more they would be recognized with a red flag, making them potential targets for attacks from other players without any penalty.
Broken drew his sword, gripping it firmly with his right hand. "I accept your duel challenge, and whoever loses will become the victor's slave for the next 24 hours, doing whatever the victor asks." He pointed at the two female players. "They will be witnesses to this agreement."
In duels, the reward for the winner could be declared as slavery, meaning the losing player would be penalized if they disobeyed their master's commands, as per the game's system. However, there were certain limitations, such as ensuring the commands were reasonable.
RememberMe took one look at Broken's sword and could barely contain his laughter.
"With a weapon like that, you had the audacity to accept my challenge. It seems that the contents of your head are as broken as your name," he replied confidently. "I didn't think that with your tattered weapon, you would arrogantly surrender yourself to be my slave, hahaha…"
"I'll buy him a sword, what do you think?" the mage girl suggested.
"I think that's a good idea. At least the duel will be fairer," the archer girl agreed.
"Ha! I could defeat him without using my armor," RememberMe scoffed.
The mage girl walked over to Broken, smiling at him. "Hey, are you sure you want to accept his challenge? He doesn't have any sense, and I can't imagine what he would do if you lost and became his slave for the next 24 hours," she said.
Broken returned the mage girl's smile. "Thanks for your concern, but I'll face him fairly."
"You don't need to show kindness to a stranger, PussyCat. This is so annoying. Come fight me, Broken!" RememberMe demanded.

Broken accepted the challenge from RememberMe, and a symbol of two clashing swords immediately appeared between them, indicating they were now in a duel mode.
At that moment, RememberMe noticed Broken's level from the system, "Level 26?" He turned to Broken with a smirk.
Broken muttered under his breath, "I forgot that he would find out my level."
RememberMe has no idea who he's dealing with!

RememberMe was about to burst into laughter upon seeing Broken's level. He initially just wanted to bully him, but now he felt like he might have gone too far. Broken's level was only 26. He could defeat him without using any armor or weapon
"I think there's something wrong with him. His level is only 26, yet he dared to accept my challenge," RememberMe laughed, turning to his friends.
PussyCat, the female mage, sighed. "Just let him go, RememberMe. You're going too far with this bullying. Look at him; he's just a poor player passing by."
"He doesn't look strong at all," the female archer added. "Though his Spirit Beast is adorable, I'm curious about it."
Broken stood with Polly waiting nearby, not yet in her Battle Form. He deliberately held Polly back, wanting to surprise the arrogant warrior.
RememberMe's level was quite high at 78. This could be advantageous for Broken. If the warrior followed him for the next 24 hours, he could help Broken hunt monsters and gather enough Monster Cores to feed Polly.
Polly, a level 97 Spirit Beast, would benefit significantly from Monster Cores of equal level, especially if they had the chance to obtain Monster Soul Stones. Broken's Bountiful Harvest skill increased the likelihood of such valuable drops.
RememberMe flung his sword to the ground and declared confidently, "I'll give you five seconds to unleash your most powerful attack on me. Take a good look," he said, discarding the armor he had been wearing on his top and letting it clatter to the ground. "I admire your bravery. Now, show me your best attack," he added.
"I'll defeat you without using any armor or weapons. It's only fair since fighting you at such a low level would be too easy with my high-quality gear. Hahaha." RememberMe flaunted his arrogance.
The female archer, Forev, grumbled, "I hope he doesn't regret underestimating his opponent. What a stupid asshole."
PussyCat giggled. "I feel sorry for that level 26 swordsman. He's going to become RememberMe's slave after this. There's no way he can win against him."
PussyCat then said with concern."RememberMe, are you sure of your decision? You are underestimating him too much,"
"Don't worry, he is only at level 26; what could I possibly fear? I'm merely entertaining myself," RememberMe responded confidently.
"But don't forget, he has a spirit beast," PussyCat reminded him.
"Do you think spirit beasts that choose a level 26 player are special ones? Just take a look at that spirit beast - it's just a little cute fox," he answered.
Broken charged towards RememberMe with a sword, and Polly transformed into five foxes, several times larger than before.
RememberMe was taken aback, unable to defend as Broken quickly got in front of him and unleashed an attack with his sword, causing him to fall to the ground instantly.
Broken then delivered several additional strikes, drastically depleting RememberMe's health.
Polly's fox forms also attacked, clawing and tearing at his body. The onslaught was rapid and relentless, leaving RememberMe no time to think about how to fight back.
"Kyaaaa.... Help me!" RememberMe yelled out in distress as his health bar plummeted rapidly.
Soon after, a loud siren blared, announcing that the duel had come to an abrupt conclusion in mere seconds.
RememberMe lay on the ground after he was badly defeated by Broken, he still couldn't accept the defeat, he was in shock.
PussyCat and Forev ran over, and it was clear from Forev's smirk that she was enjoying the situation. "I warned you," she said.
"Did you see this coming, Forev?" PussyCat asked.
"Nine-tailed Fox," Forev replied, nodding toward Polly, now perched in Broken's arms.
"Doesn't it have only three tails?" PussyCat remarked, puzzled.
"It will, after it evolves next time."
Forev continued, "I've studied Spirits and Spirit Beasts, so I knew this wasn't an ordinary Spirit Beast. I suspected its level was much higher than its master's."
RememberMe stood up, still visibly annoyed. "Damn it, why didn't you tell me earlier, Forev? This is really frustrating," he grumbled.
Broken gave the warrior a smug smile. "Now, you're my slave for the next 24 hours."
"Do we need to form a party?" RememberMe inquired.
Broken was still unsure how his Bountiful Harvest skill worked—whether being in a party with others would affect the rate. But he knew he needed to land the final hit on every monster they hunted to maximize the benefits of his skill.
Moreover, Broken had no interest in spending more time with the three players than necessary. So he wasn't keen on forming a party with them.
"I don't think so," Broken replied nonchalantly. "You just have to reduce the monsters' health bar to nearly empty, and I'll deliver the final blow—that way, all the bounty that drops from the monsters will be mine."
Broken then spun around and headed for the forest without pausing to hear the warrior's reply.
RememberMe sensed something was amiss about Broken.
"How are you so powerful when you're only level 26?" he called out, trying to catch up to Broken. Two of his companions rushed after him as well.
RememberMe, a male warrior, PussyCat, a female mage, and Forev, a female archer, knew each other outside the game. They had been playing Immortal Legacy for quite some time and had become quite intrigued by this increasingly popular game, which was being played by many people worldwide.
RememberMe was a tall and well-built man with blond hair. Standing at 1.8 meters (5.91 feet), he was well-suited to be a front-line warrior. PussyCat was a mage with a witch's hat and a blue robe. At 1.6 meters (5.25 feet) tall, her blond hair gave her an even more attractive appearance. The last player was Forev, an Asian girl who was 1.59 meters (5.22 feet) tall, had straight black hair and was wearing a dark gray archer's outfit.
RememberMe glanced at his two companions. "See, he is level 26, but his skill dealt so much damage. Did you see his stupid tattered sword? There is no way the skill came from the sword."
Forev responded, "That's because you didn't wear any armor, you idiot."
"I'm not that stupid; I can do the math. I'm sure he has a skill with high damage. He is only level 26; his stats can't be that high," RememberMe insisted.
The three of them walked, following Broken while chatting with each other.
"Let me follow him; you two go on ahead," he said, sighing.
"No, it's okay; we'll keep you company. I think making new friends in this game will be interesting," PussyCat replied with a wide smile.
"Yes, I'm also curious about his spirit beast," Forev added.
RememberMe then ran to catch up to Broken and walked beside him. "Hahaha, Master… tell me, where did you get that skill? The damage is so high, it's like a magic skill."
Broken, meanwhile, checked the durability of his sword, which was almost completely worn out. A few more uses and it would break entirely.
"I'll lend you a new sword, Master…" RememberMe offered. "I have a level 25 sword. Interested? But tell me about the skill you used to kill me, hahaha."
But let’s be real, what would you make a player do if they had to be your slave for 24 hours in a game?
