"You lost your memory? When! And how! This is…I don't even know what to say to that. And what about you being an omega? When did that happen? Did you try to fool us all this time?"

The landlady's expression was complicated. It seemed as if she did not know what to say anymore to Rika.

Seeing her struggling made Rika feel sorry for her, too. But she was unsure what she was supposed to feel sorry for.

Having no memory made this all too complicated for Rika. It made her feel half-competent, and she struggled to understand what to do next.

"I don't think Rika intentionally caused trouble or fooled you either. She had a condition where she mainly was beta, but she was beginning to develop as an omega. 

I am sure Rika was a beta for the duration she lived with you. So please don't think that she fooled you or anything."

Emily was quick to assure, but it was difficult for the landlady to feel 100% confident about this.
