Uchiha Compound
Fugaku took out Hizashi's letter and read it.
He turned to Hyuga Yuto and said, "Thank you for your efforts. Please inform Hizashi that I understand."
Yuto, relieved to have safely delivered the letter, felt like a great storm was brewing between the Uchiha and Hyuga clans. As a regular branch family member, this was the most he could do for Hizashi.
...
After Yuto left, Fugaku immediately called for the Fourth Elder, Uchiha Yōhei, and handed him Hizashi's letter.
"Yōhei, what do you think?" Fugaku asked.
Yōhei stroked his beard thoughtfully, "Vice Leader Natsuki seemed to have anticipated this situation before he left."
Fugaku sighed, "Natsuki is always a step ahead. He planned for this, predicting that the branch family led by Hizashi would take over the police force, while any treacherous intent from the Hyuga main family would bypass Hizashi."
"I called you here to ask about the progress of the evacuation plan," Fugaku continued.
Yōhei nodded, "Rest assured, Fugaku. After our compound was rebuilt, I feared something might happen, so we quietly prepared that street a long time ago."
"And the transport vehicles?" Fugaku inquired.
"Thanks to the compensation from the Cloud Village, we've been able to produce ten vehicles. They are ready for use," Yōhei reported.
Fugaku clapped his hands, "Good. No time to waste. Call everyone back tonight and execute the evacuation plan."
"Yes, Fugaku!"
...
Konoha Eighth Street
As usual, the street was bustling with activity. Shops typically stayed open until 10 PM, making the night market lively. Many residents nearby were used to eating out in the evening.
However, tonight, they found that all Uchiha shops had closed by 8 PM, causing a stir among the villagers.
"Why did the Uchiha close their shops again? There aren't any Root members in the police force now," they wondered.
Inside the Uchiha shops, a flurry of activity ensued as owners and employees packed up equipment and supplies, storing them in storage scrolls provided by the clan for quick asset relocation.
Curious regulars knocked on doors, asking why the shops closed early. Uchiha shop owners uniformly replied, "We're closing early for training and developing new dishes. We'll be open as usual tomorrow."
Disappointed, the regulars left while the Uchiha members continued their work.
Meanwhile, the Hyuga spies were frantic. Watching the Uchiha pack up everything, they wondered, "What are they planning? We haven't fully observed their cooking methods yet."
Daisuke and Kaizaki rushed to report everything to Hyuga Haito.
Pacing back and forth, now fully healed, Haito found great pleasure walking. Seeing the Uchiha pack up made him suspicious. "Are they planning to stop their profitable business?"
Unable to intervene directly, Haito ordered, "Keep an eye on them. Report any new developments."
Daisuke and Kaizaki continued their covert observations with their Byakugan.
Later that night, all packed items were stored in scrolls, and the Uchiha members returned to their compound as usual, carrying the scrolls with them.
...
Konoha Eighth Street
At dawn, the police force was abuzz with activity. All Uchiha police members had submitted their resignations, leaving Hizashi to reorganise and redistribute the remaining troops to cover the vacancies and continue patrols.
To their surprise, when the Hyuga patrol started, they found all Uchiha shops closed at opening time. Inside, the shops were empty, with all equipment and supplies gone.
The patrol quickly reported this to Hizashi, who, like Fugaku, couldn't understand why the Uchiha would abandon such lucrative businesses.
...
These developments quickly reached the Third Hokage. Reading the reports, he was stunned. "Why would they stop making money?"
He sent someone to inquire with the Uchiha.
The Uchiha responded by distributing flyers on Eighth Street. The ANBU brought one back to the Hokage. The flyer explained that the Uchiha were consolidating their scattered shops into a dedicated food street outside their compound, with shuttles available from the village's north gate.
The Hokage, caught off guard, dispatched Kakashi to investigate. The north gate was near Eighth Street, formerly occupied by the Uchiha.
Kakashi saw ten vehicles lined up, the same model as the sightseeing cars Natsuki had seen before. Each vehicle could carry 25 people. Fully loaded, they swiftly transport people back and forth, forming a continuous loop.
Joining curious villagers on one of the rides, Kakashi noticed the drivers were former Uchiha patrol members, indicating long-term planning.
Upon arrival, Kakashi found that the Uchiha had built an entire street at the border between their compound and the village, unnoticed by Konoha.
The uniform buildings on either side formed a U-shaped path. The shops, now labeled and bustling, appeared as neat and aesthetically pleasing modular structures.
At the entrance, a Uchiha member was selling "Snack Street Membership Cards." Kakashi saw that members received a 10% discount on purchases for just ten ryō, practically giving them away.
Kakashi bought a card, noting that the member recognised him but processed it without issue. The card explicitly stated that no jutsu was allowed on the street, and violators were banned.
