Since he had already made up his mind, Lynn, known for his decisive actions, nudged Klein, who was choosing between two mystical items, and whispered, "Choose the Master Key. I sense something familiar about it. It might be connected to someone I know. I will buy it from you..."
Klein was momentarily stunned but quickly decided to take the Master Key. He then told Father Utravsky, "Father, I'll take the Master Key. As for the Apothecary formula, I would like to receive its equivalent value in gold pounds..."
Unlike in the original story where he wanted to nurture an Apothecary teammate, Klein no longer had such thoughts and didn't need the Apothecary formula. The key point was that Lynn had the formula, so if Klein needed it later, he could buy it from Lynn.
"Alright," Father Utravsky agreed, handing Klein the Master Key and counting out 220 gold pounds, the typical price for a Sequence 9 potion formula.
Klein took the Master Key and the gold pounds, instinctively examining the small, brass-colored key without noticing anything unusual before handing it to Lynn.
Lynn took the Master Key, holding it by the end, and didn't immediately make a call. Instead, he showed a slightly confused expression, as if trying to recall something.
After a brief moment of acting, Lynn sighed, looked at Father Utravsky, and asked, "Father, do you know the origin of this mystical item? It might be related to someone important to me, although I can't remember anything now..."
Lynn's friend Bethel was important to him, although not as significant as Klein, Medici, or Sasrir.
"You might need to ask Mr. Emlyn about this," Father Utravsky replied frankly. "He was the previous owner of the Master Key and wandered into the church because of it."
Lynn and Klein's expressions changed slightly. Lynn continued acting, while Klein realized that the Master Key's negative effects were more severe than he had thought. The key might not just cause its owner to get lost but also encounter danger while lost.
Klein wondered if their visit to Harvest Church had been anticipated by someone, given how perfectly things aligned with prophecies.
"It's probably best to ask Emlyn then..." Lynn said, rubbing his temples and looking towards the living area. "Father Utravsky, since your issue is resolved, can you release Emlyn? I still need to ask him about the Master Key..."
"Of course, but please wait a moment. I need to use a bit of time to place a constraint on the sanguine to ensure he comes to the church for volunteer work," Father Utravsky replied, taking the Nightmare Candle to the living area, likely heading to the basement.
"It seems Father Utravsky intends to use the Mental Terror Candle to plant a psychological suggestion on Emlyn," Klein remarked. He didn't think the method was wrong, given that it was the best way to ensure Emlyn kept his promise.
"Let's hope the suggestion is only about volunteer work..." Lynn hinted, deliberately misleading Klein while gazing at the Master Key in confusion.
"Uh, I hope the Father doesn't try to force a change in faith..." Klein replied uncertainly, not knowing Father Utravsky well enough to be sure.
Seeing Lynn's puzzled look, Klein suggested, "You'll remember eventually. Feeling familiar with this key is proof. If you can't, you can ask the Angel of Secrets. He treat you differently and might reveal something after a few tries."
"Don't mention it. He only shares what he wants. If he cares so much, he could show me the script in advance!" Lynn complained, then added, "I'm not afraid of forgetting. I'm just suddenly feeling sad... This key, or its attached aura, gives me a bad feeling."
Klein's heart sank at Lynn's words, fearing the familiar might be in a dire state. Thinking of the fallen Angel of War and Sasrir, Klein hoped Lynn's acquaintance hadn't truly fallen.
He could only hope they haven't fallen.
