ASHLEY’s POV

“Ashley!” Mark shouted. “Get inside the car! Why are you walking in the rain?”

I ignored him and continued walking. What was this guy doing here? What did he want from me?

“Where’s your car?” he asked again, following me with his car.

What about him? Where did he get his car? I thought he didn’t have a driver’s license to use here in New York. I shook that question out of my mind. It was easy to get one and maybe he’s planning to stay here a little longer.

My brain was still processing the information while my body was too numb to do what he told me. Was he trying to give me a ride? But why? We’re not even friends.

“I’m fine, Mark. I’m o-okay…” I stuttered while the coldness on my body was getting unbearable.

“Just get inside my car!” he shouted again. “I’ll drive you home!”
