บท 2: Chapter 2: A New Beginnig At...

Waking up, I found myself not in my usual room but in a completely different place. The last thing I remembered was a blinding light and an enormous pressure in my chest. I heard a shout from downstairs, "Josh, come down, breakfast is ready." Still not understanding my current situation, I decided to follow the voice.

But I noticed something different—I had smaller hands than I remembered. I looked in the mirror and saw a child's reflection. Instantly, a headache started pounding in my head, and I saw several images flash rapidly, like scenes from a movie.

Letting out a sigh and wiping the sweat from my forehead due to the mental stress, I realized that I had reincarnated into a world similar to the one I lived in before. How did I deduce I had reincarnated? First, I was a child with new memories. Second, I had been a 24-year-old man in 2024, and now I was a 4-year-old in 1983.

Although I was incredulous that the stories I had read could happen to me, I was also excited about this opportunity. However, I was disappointed to be in a seemingly normal life, possibly destined to become a corporate slave. The only advantage I had was the potential to become a millionaire with my future knowledge. I just needed to investigate to ensure this was a normal world or if it had anything extraordinary.

Now that I think about it, I haven't mentioned my background as a reincarnate. I was born into a wealthy and prominent family in the medical field. My parents were renowned surgeons at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, thus generating high expectations for me.

My father, Dr. Alexander Whitman, was a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon, while my mother, Dr. Emily Whitman, specialized in neurosurgery. Since I was little, my days were filled with conversations about complex surgeries, interesting medical cases, and life at the hospital. Although I enjoyed listening to my parents, I never imagined I would follow in their footsteps so closely.

After a somewhat uncomfortable breakfast with my new parents, I came to accept my new reality. I also noted that they weren't bad parents, just a bit work-addicted. As a result, my new life involved constant visits to the hospital, not for my health, but because my parents sometimes couldn't look after me during their shifts and left me with their residents.

Meanwhile, I conducted my studies to determine if this truly was a normal world. I searched for news like "Captain America," "Nevermore Academy," "Michael Myers," "Places to Visit in Sunnydale," "Mystic Falls," and "Hawkins, Indiana." All with no apparent results, concluding that this was a normal world.

Over time, I became fascinated with the hustle and bustle of the hospital, the rapid conversations between doctors and nurses, and the feeling of being at the center of something important. A couple of years later, at ten years old, I had already decided that I wanted to be a surgeon, inspired by the stories my mother told about her patients and the miracles she and her team performed in the operating room.

To resume my background, my family lived in a spacious house on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, an exclusive neighborhood reflecting our social and economic position. My education was strict and rigorous, attending the best private schools where my parents expected me to excel both academically and extracurricularly. They wanted me to have a well-rounded education, so besides my studies, they enrolled me in piano and equestrian classes. Although I enjoyed these activities, I always knew my true interest lay in medicine.

After finishing high school, I applied to several universities, but my first choice was always Harvard. Not only for its prestige but also because my grandfather, also a doctor, had been a professor there. Being accepted into Harvard University was one of the happiest and most terrifying moments of my life.

Something I could never have imagined in my previous life, being from a Central American country. I knew the competition would be fierce, but I was determined to prove that I could live up to my family's expectations.

During my years at Harvard, I immersed myself completely in my studies. Excelling in cellular and molecular biology allowed me to understand the most intricate aspects of medicine. I spent hours in laboratories, researching and learning. Despite the academic load, I also found time to participate in student clubs and extracurricular activities, which helped me develop leadership and teamwork skills.

My passion for medicine solidified when I began participating in clinical research under the mentorship of renowned professors. One of the most significant projects I worked on was the use of stem cells in cardiac tissue regeneration, a line of research that had the potential to revolutionize cardiothoracic surgery studies.

This experience not only provided me with a deep knowledge of regenerative medicine but also allowed me to publish my first article in a scientific journal, an achievement my parents were particularly proud of. The article, titled "Innovations in Cardiac Regeneration through Stem Cells," was published in the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.

After graduating with honors from Harvard, I received several invitations for my internship, but one stood out as if it called to me or sounded familiar. Making my decision, I even turned down the prestigious New York Presbyterian Hospital, the same place where my parents worked. I headed to Seattle, Washington. During the flight, I confirmed my desire to follow in my father's footsteps and specialize in cardiothoracic surgery.

After looking for a spacious house with the income I had generated from my investments in various companies like Apple, Google, Nvidia, Kingston, Subway, Naughty Dog, Rockstar Games, Blizzard, Netflix, and Steam, I managed to acquire a house. I also bought an animation studio, the most risky investment so far because I didn't know which studio to buy but could provide guidance on what shows to produce.

Setting aside the above, which would be any reincarnate's pride of becoming a millionaire with future knowledge, I headed to the hospital where I would do my internship. However, my life took an unexpected turn at the end of my internship at "Seattle Grace Hospital."

It was at that moment I knew which universe I was in—"Grey's Anatomy," a TV show I used to watch occasionally during my university years in my past life. I was in the same hospital where the main plot of the series would unfold.

Eagerly, I entered the hospital, encountering several residents and looking among them to see if I happened to spot any of the main characters. But unfortunately, I didn't see any, leaving me with two possibilities: I had arrived before or after the start of the original story.

Shortly after, I concluded that I had arrived a year before. A year before the series began, I started working at Seattle Grace as a resident under the supervision of Dr. Richard Webber. This hospital, though not as large as New York Presbyterian, had a unique and vibrant energy.

I quickly befriended other residents and doctors, not to mention recognizing many of them from the episodes I had seen. However, I never let on that I knew their stories and futures, as doing so could alter the natural course of events.

One day, shortly before the series began, a particularly complex case was assigned to me, under Dr. Webber's supervision. A man in his forties named John was admitted to the hospital with acute chest pain and difficulty breathing. Upon arriving at the emergency room, Dr. Webber gave me the responsibility of leading the initial diagnosis.

"Whitman, this is your patient. Tell me what you think and how you would proceed," said Dr. Webber, observing me with his penetrating eyes.

"Yes, Dr. Webber," I replied confidently. I approached John and began asking detailed questions about his symptoms. "John, can you describe the pain? Is it sharp, oppressive? Does it radiate anywhere?"

"It's like a heavy pressure, right here," John said, pointing to the center of his chest. "And I also feel short of breath."

"I see," I responded. "Have you had any history of heart problems before?"

"No, never," John said, trying not to sound worried.

After a quick physical exam, I asked a nurse to order an electrocardiogram and blood tests to measure troponin levels. I also decided to do a chest X-ray to rule out any pulmonary issues.

While waiting for the results, Dr. Webber approached and asked, "What are your thoughts so far?"

"It could be a myocardial infarction, but I also want to rule out a pulmonary embolism," I replied. "The symptoms fit both diagnoses."

Soon after, the electrocardiogram results showed signs of ischemia, and the troponin levels were elevated, confirming a myocardial infarction.

"Well done, Whitman," said Dr. Webber. "Now, what's the next step?"

"We need to take him to the cath lab for an angiography and possibly an angioplasty to clear the blockage," I suggested.

With Dr. Webber's approval, we took John to the cath lab. During the procedure, we found a completely blocked coronary artery. Carefully, I inserted a stent to restore blood flow.

"It's going well, John. Just a bit more," I told him as we finished the procedure.

Once we were done, we took John to the intensive care unit for his recovery. Dr. Webber patted me on the shoulder.

"Good job, Whitman. You handled this with great skill and composure. Keep it up," he said, smiling slightly.

Throughout the year, I formed close bonds with several residents. I became friends with Miranda Bailey, whose firmness and dedication made her a natural leader. I also got along well with Preston Burke, a brilliant and ambitious cardiothoracic surgeon.

One night, after an exhausting shift, I was in the residents' lounge reviewing some cases when I realized the date coincided with the eve of the first episode of "Grey's Anatomy." The sensation of being on the edge of something big was palpable. I knew that the next day, Meredith Grey, the show's protagonist, would start her internship at the hospital. My heart raced as I thought about how events would unfold and how my presence could influence the plot.

That night, I went to bed early, anticipating what was to come. Like anyone else, I had some naughty thoughts, knowing that in my past life, many of the actresses who appear in this show or my new reality were beautiful, with one of my favorites being Izzie.

Although I'm not a saint, I would try to start something romantic or occasional with Izzie, depending on her. After all, in the show, almost everyone had relationships with each other. I would also do everything possible to be the best surgeon I could and, at the same time, protect those I knew would face difficulties.

The next morning would mark the beginning of a new chapter in my life. And so, with a mix of excitement and nervousness, I prepared to face whatever lay ahead at Seattle Grace Hospital.

Feeling as if something was lifting me to an unknown place, I was scared, unable to open my eyes. When the sensation stopped, I opened my eyes. Looking around, I saw nothing but fog. In the center was a round table, and around it were two figures. The first was a burly man with a spear and shield, a true warrior. Looking at the other figure...

Here is the second chapter of the series. It might seem a bit early, but I was eager to write. I plan to write one chapter per week. By now, you should have an idea of where the story is headed, at least for the next three or four chapters. If you want to recommend any cinematic universes, comics, or cartoons, you can leave them in the comments. First, I will write the book's synopsis before chapter 3. See you then!
