บท 3: Game Begins: Maritime Banquet 3

Wen Nannan looked at them when someone called her from behind. "What are you still standing there for? Get on the ship!" The middle-aged man he had seen before shouted from the gangway. "If it weren't for your father pleading with me, I wouldn't have let you board the ship."

On the gangway, there was a group of people getting ready to the ship. Upon hearing the man's words, several of them instinctively turned their gaze towards Wen Nannan. Seeing the man yelling, one redheaded woman shook her head, "It's not her." Then, they all casually looked away.

After all, cargo ships mainly transport cargo, despite its size, most of the space was for cargo, with only the lower deck being their living area. Wen Nannan's job was to clean. With over forty crew members on the cargo ship, she only needed to clean a portion of the public areas each day, leaving her with plenty of free time.

Wen Nannan didn't like interacting with others and would return to her room after work.

She spent four days calmly like this. But not knowing the rules of the game, Wen Nannan always felt a sense of uncertainty lingering.

Passing the time in the room felt particularly long and tedious.

"Just sitting around won't do. From now on, help out in the cafeteria," the pseudo-uncle said, looking at her. "Today Xiao Li isn't feeling well, go replace him."

"Got it."

Wen Nannan nodded. The pseudo-uncle seemed to have some opinions about his imaginary brother, to the point where he wasn't particularly fond of Wen Nannan.

The kitchen of the cargo ship was at the end of this deck. Wen Nannan pushed the door open, just in time for lunch, with the cafeteria bustling with people. The head chef, Chef Zhu, glanced at her. "Why are you only here now? Go and deliver food to everyone."

"Okay."

Wen Nannan walked over, her gaze was drawn to one person. Although there were many chefs around, one person caught her attention. He stood there, silent, yet able to attract everyone's gaze.

With his handsome nose and cascading eyelashes, his profile appeared particularly charming in the backlight. His slender fingers were carving a carrot flower. Though his carving skills were mediocre, his hands were exceptionally good-looking. Well-defined joints and fair, slender, they resembled a work of art.

This chef had a top-notch appearance, but unfortunately, his skills didn't match up, such a pity for those good-looking hands.

Wen Nannan averted her gaze and placed the food on the small cart.

"Wen Nannan, a storm is coming soon, and today the sailors need to work on the deck. Take the food up there," Chef Zhu said as he cooked. "Also, Xiao Li's health is getting worse, so bring him some food first."

"Okay."

Wen Nannan nodded, lifting the heavy bucket onto the small cart.

"Chef Zhu, when is the storm coming? Is it going to be severe?" Wen Nannan asked. Was this survival game really going to involve a shipwreck?

"The rain may be a bit heavy, but it'll be fine," Chef Zhu shook his head. "Our cargo ship has a large displacement, so the chances of anything happening are low."

Hearing this, Wen Nannan's lips twitched. She hated this kind of foreshadowing the most.
