บท 17: Chapter 4: Part 3 - Mixed Messages
I looked around the apartment to see just how big it was and how much I had to clean. There was Chris' room, the guest room, the living room, a study, the kitchen and two bathrooms, one that was ensuite to Chris' room and another that was located through the kitchen. It was doable, if I put in about 6 to 8 hours…. But then when was I going to go job hunting?
'Lol at this rate I might just end up homeless. I better get a new job soon, I can't live on my savings forever' I reminded myself.
"Sarah dinner" Chris said as she passed by me from the kitchen and started setting up on the coffee table in the living room.
Chris turned on the lights, eliminating the cosy space.
The smell was so good I sort of forgot that I was upset at Chris, and drifted over happily, sitting down and waiting for Chris to bring out cutlery so that we could eat!
"Come Sarah, help me get the cutlery and the cups. You live here now, so you should help out" Chris said from the kitchen, as if she knew I was just sitting on the couch dutifully waiting for her.
I bounced up and joined Chris in the kitchen, "Ok! Where do you keep everything?" I asked as I looked around at the drawers all over her kitchen.
I felt Chris' hand on my back and a sharp tug brought me hard against her lean frame.
"You see, if it was anyone other than me, this could get bad real fast" Christ said in a low voice.
I felt my whole body tense up involuntarily. Did Chris mean to do something to me, just before we ate? I mean is this what it meant, to do…smexy things as FWB?
However Chris just reached around me and pulled a drawer open that was on my right side.
"See, cleaning and cooking is also about respecting other people's space, knowing where everything is. How are you going to do those things without learning about the environment you are in?" she asked as she should me, from behind me, the cutlery drawer.
To be fair, had I still been standing where I was when she opened the drawer, it would have hit me in my waist and that would have hurt a lot.
All the cutlery was there and before I could reply, Chris patted me on the head and told me to get a set for each of us and left.
I stood there for a moment. Horrified. Chris patted me on the head.
Chris patted me on the head!!!
'Was I now officially, pet-material? Have I dropped into an even lower class than friend? Or was that a higher class? What was our relationship status really?' I thought to myself, confused.
I gathered the cutlery fighting back angry tears. 'I will make you fall for me somehow Chris, if it's the last thing I do~!!'
I had great luck with most of the people I had ever tried to pursue, why was Chris so hard to get through to?
