บท 120: Chapter 123: Uninvited Guest

In the world, there are always some people with simple minds.

No matter the situation, they speak directly.

Professor Newt Scamander is such a simple person. When he saw a fairy dancing on Wilson's hand, he immediately pointed out that it was terrified of Wilson!

These magical creatures aren't very intelligent. They show signs of liking or fearing something. As a magizoologist, Professor Scamander can easily tell the difference.

"When a fairy likes someone, it clings to their hair. They see themselves as ornaments that make wizards look beautiful," Professor Scamander explained while looking at the fairy on Wilson's hand. His expression turned serious. "When they are afraid, they dance for the creature they fear."

The students watching had strange looks on their faces.

He continued softly, "They use this beautiful dance, hoping the creature sees them as useful."

Wilson remained calm.

Why, from Newt's words, did he seem like a dark wizard feared by magical creatures, when he merely caught one by chance?

Honestly, if Wilson hadn't met Luna over the summer and guessed some truths from that simple girl, he might now be frantically trying to come up with an excuse.

Fortunately, he had prepared for this.

Wilson had his reasons ready. It didn't matter that Newt revealed it now because it would come out in the third year anyway.

Of course, Wilson's mood wasn't great. He had been somewhat happy, thinking magical creatures liked him, but now it seemed like a problem.

"I always thought they liked me..." Wilson gazed at the fairy on his hand, waved it away, and showed a touch of sadness. "Many small animals like to be around me. Mr. Crouch told me I must be a Hufflepuff."

"Maybe some do like you," Professor Scamander quickly responded.

Honest people are always kind. He realized his words might have hurt a student's feelings and hurried to explain.

"But most are probably scared," Professor Scamander added truthfully. "Fairies aren't afraid of humans. They have little intelligence and act on instinct."

But, that's the problem with honest people. They tell uncomfortable truths.

Professor Scamander tried to make up for it. "Maybe other animals marked you. Hagrid told me you have an Ice Phoenix, which is at least XXXX dangerous."

Professor Scamander sincerely continued, "Phoenixes are very loyal to their owners or partners. Some may demand the same loyalty from their owners, scaring other animals away."

"Maybe," Wilson frowned slightly. "Mr. Crouch also got me an owl, but Avinia wouldn't let it deliver my letters..."

Wilson had been thinking of mentioning this, but Newt brought it up first, even blaming Avinia.

"Exactly," Professor Scamander nodded earnestly. "Having a loyal companion is lucky. It might cost you, but it brings joy too."

Professor Scamander didn't want to dwell on it. He planned to discuss it later when he saw the Ice Phoenix. "Maybe we can talk about it later. Let's continue our lesson."

Yes, the lesson was important.

This class was short, and it would take time for the Hufflepuffs to drive out the ghoul. If any student got scared, it might disrupt the lesson.

Professor Scamander gathered the students at his hut's door, having them line up to drive the ghoul out.

Wilson watched Newt and the magical creatures in his suitcase, narrowing his eyes.

This Defense Against the Dark Arts professor seemed a bit dangerous.

The simple magizoologist felt like his nemesis, barely fooled for now. If the Ice Phoenix didn't scare the creatures, it would mean Wilson was the one they feared.

No, the Ice Phoenix couldn't return to Hogwarts. It should stay with Crouch Sr.

Wilson needed to stay away from Newt and his suitcase. Who knew what else he might discover?

Even if magical creatures could be profitable for Wilson, it was better to keep a distance for now.

Unfortunately, Newt was particularly interested in Wilson.

The old man, unaware of the danger, even invited Wilson to help care for the creatures after class.

"Some little guys don't like to eat, and some like to fight. Maybe we can make them behave," Professor Scamander suggested, offering a reward. "I can give you rare materials not found in Diagon Alley or anywhere."

Professor Scamander added, "I can't award points to Hufflepuff for this. It's not part of Defense Against the Dark Arts."

Wilson's face soured. Was Newt using him to scare animals?

As a master potioneer with legendary recipes, Wilson wasn't interested in rare materials. Did Newt think he could be bought?

"Alright, I'll help," Wilson agreed.

Newt's suitcase housed many magical creatures, more than Cedric's family owned.

This job made other Hufflepuffs envious.

For Wilson, this school year was starting well, with rewards coming without much effort.

Except for some minor troubles.

Wilson and Newt often cared for the creatures together, discussing their characteristics.

Halfway through the year, nothing newsworthy happened at Hogwarts.

Only Ravenclaw's first-year, Cho Chang, caught attention. This girl started becoming attractive, drawing many boys' eyes.

Teenage hormones often heighten feelings for the opposite sex.

Hogwarts students were no different. Some boys, infatuated with the same girl, caused trouble, forgetting certain threats.

On the Quidditch field, Gryffindor and Ravenclaw players fought.

Cho, a Quidditch fan, often watched practices, drawing other students.

But Ravenclaw's Quidditch team wasn't strong. Gryffindor players, trying to impress, sparked a conflict.

No one wanted to back down in front of the girls.

Wilson was in Newt's office when he heard, him putting down his spoon. "Excuse me, Professor, I need to handle this."

"Hmm?" Professor Scamander didn't understand. Shouldn't the heads of houses handle this? Did Hufflepuffs still like to mediate?

Wilson's method was different.

Arriving with other Hufflepuffs, Wilson used magic to hang all the fighters on the Quidditch stands.

"Let them hang for a day," Wilson ordered. "Have your prefects get them down at dinner."

New students watched, stunned.

What a strange way to handle things!

From a tower in Hogwarts, a white-haired man watched and chuckled. "Dumbledore, do you have such unique students at Hogwarts?"
