The following morning, Fiona was still cuddled up in the cozy little couch, when Liam walked in since he had a spare key.
He couldn't say he wasn't amused when he entered the room and found the bed empty while she was folded on the couch. Although it still seemed as if she was comfortable, he knew she wasn't.
It was all his fault. He mused as he slowly and quietly walked up to her and stooped down to gaze at her face.
A fond smile played on his lips as he gazed down at her peaceful face. A stark contrast to the anger she had displayed the night before.
He reached out to tuck a stray strand of hair away from her face, causing her to stir. He quickly straightened up, thinking she was about to wake up but when she mumbled some incoherent words, he chuckled and bent down again, taking calm from her peaceful face.
When she stirred again, he decided to take her to bed so she could sleep even more peacefully.
Just as he carried her off the couch and headed to the bed, Fiona's eyes fluttered open when from her sleep, she felt like she was floating and at the same time moving.
"Ahhh....." Fiona screamed fiercely when she opened her eyes and the first thing her brain registered was that she was indeed floating as she had thought causing Liam who had not known she was now awake except for her scream to stop and look down at her.
Shutting her eyes back, she slowly began to take in the situation when she felt a masculine hand under her back and waist. A solid chest pressing against her side and her head, resting on a firm arm.
She wasn't floating but was being carried by a man to somewhere. Who could it be and where was he taking her? She mused as it occurred to her she was still at Liam's place and he had to be the one carrying her.
Did he want to have his way with her while she was asleep? She mused and without thinking further, began to hit him. "You scum! Where are you taking me?" she asked as she continuously hit him.
Liam, who couldn't take it anymore dropped her on the bed without notice and Fiona's heart skipped when she felt herself falling downward.
She sighed in relief when she realized he had dropped her on the bed but just then, her eyes widened in surprise. "What do you want to do?" she asked in alarm.
"What does it look like I'm doing?" Liam asked grudgingly.
"You tell me," she said protecting her body with her hands.
"You look like you're about to do something I obviously don't want."
"What? I'll never do that. I'll never have a lady without her consent," he said and Fiona rolled her eyes.
"But you'll offer them money," she murmured grudgingly.
"I was only trying to help you sleep more comfortably," he said with a sigh and when Fiona merely got off the bed without another word to him, he frowned.
"After hitting me the way you did, you couldn't even say sorry when you realized I was only helping." Liam eyed her with displeasure and she shrugged.
"Well, I didn't ask for your help. I never told you I wanted you to carry me to the bed," she said and Liam looked at her unbelievable attitude.
"What?" he asked incredulously.
"Yeah. I didn't ask and besides, what were you doing here while I was asleep?"
"This is my room for crying out loud...."
"Which I asked you to leave from last night. I don't want you here and you know it. So, why bother?" she asked and Liam sighed.
"Well, I just wanted to apologize for yesterday," he confessed and Fiona raised a brow as she crossed both her hands in front of her.
"What are you apologizing for exactly?" she asked and Liam shrugged.
"For offering you money?" he asked and she shook her head.
"You disrespected me, Liam. You think coming in here to offer an apology would automatically make everything you said last night go away?" she asked and he shrugged.
"I know it won't change anything but I still have to apologize. It was very wrong of me to just offer you money or make it seem as though my sexual satisfaction was your responsibilty. I disrespected you and i'm sorry," he said and Fiona narrowed her eyes as she looked at him.
Did he really mean his apology? Was he sorry? Or he was just apologizing for the sake of it?
"It's fine. I'm only spending the night tonight and after I meet with your mom, I'm leaving so it doesn't matter," she said and Liam nodded.
"Does that mean we're cool?" he asked and she looked at him, thoughtfully.
"No, we're not. I don't think we have to be cool for me to do my job," she said and Liam shook his head.
"Are you sure your grudge won't affect the job?" he asked and she looked at him as she wondered if he had really meant his apology.
How could he say she was holding a grudge when he had annoyed her and hadn't done enough in seeking her forgiveness?
"Mr. Parker, you don't have to worry about that. I've been doing this long enough to know very well how to keep my emotions in check. I can very well do my job whether I like you or not," she said and they both turned to the door when a knock sounded.
"Yes?" Liam called out to whoever was behind the door.
"Your breakfast is ready, sir," Mary, who had come to get them for breakfast called out and Liam turned to Fiona after dismissing Mary, letting her know they would be downstairs in a bit.
"Since you think you can play your role perfectly well even when you hate me, how about you go show me how true that is?" he said opening his arm for her but she slapped it off.
"I can do so without holding on to you. Besides, I need to shower. You can go down first," she said and headed to the bathroom to shower first.
